Stevie sang Rhiannon at midnight
Stevie shocked the capacity crowd at the Brooklyn Bowl last night, walking on stage at 12:01. Deer Tick tore into a killer version of Rhiannon and Stevie absolutely rocked the house, 40 years to the day after joining Fleetwood Mac.
Happy New Year indeed. |

so much for "resting" during the tour break. I love it. Keep on rocking Stevie!

I have a feeling it's not so much Stevie keeping busy as Stevie keeping an eye on Vanessa as I think she's due to deliver Stevie another Godchild any day now.

God this reminds me SO much of the movie "The Rose"- great movie if anyone is interested.Rose couldn't hang out anywhere whether with a friend or a "squeeze" without eventually ending up on the stage performing.Like a need or addiction.Like she couldn't just "be there"- she had to to tell everybody"I AM HERE!".Awesome for the audience,a little pitiful for her IMO..It saddens me to think about what she's going to go through after her final curtain call. She says she'll turn to art,but if it's not on a stage front and center,it'll never do:sorry:

That's pretty exciting and the fact that it was an alternative music band makes it seem like Stevie is still staying relevant and looking for new ideas, even if the truth is Vanessa got her to go there.
The pictures of her singing are fantastic. Michele |

Fantastic videos! Nothing more inspiring than seeing Stevie rocking out in a more informal setting. Thanks for posting these Nicole and Happy New Year to you!

http://www.jambands.com/news/2015/01...-brooklyn-bowl As Deer Tick’s tenth anniversary run at the Brooklyn Bowl came to a close last night, the band had one more surprise in the fold as Stevie Nicks shared the stage with the band. Nicks, who actually officiated the wedding of Deer Tick’s John McCauley and singer Vanessa Carlton in 2013, jumped on stage for a closing take on Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon.” Over the course of the run, Deer Tick paid homage to past musicians and artists who influenced them by performing albums in their entirety including records from Devo, The Beatles, Elvis Costello, NRBQ and more. The band was also joined by special guests throughout such as The Felice Brothers, Taylor Goldsmith, Tommy Stinson of The Replacements and Vanessa Carlton. |

Very cool. Thank you for the video, Nicole! Happy New Year, Ledgies. Thank you for your kindness and guidance throughout 2014!

How fun! Remember the TISL era when Stevie was petrified to get onstage? That ghost is clearly gone. And to good end. The band is clearly thrilled to have her there and she is looking and singing great. Go Mama! Happy New Year to you too Stevie.

Here is an article from the Daily Beast in which John McCauley talks about how Stevie's New Year's Eve performance came about:
http://thebea.st/1yfMFXz Deer Tick's John McCauley on Ten Years in Rock and Roll At the end of the night, Stevie Nicks just kept saying, ‘I’m so glad that you guys don’t suck, John.’ You had some pretty amazing special guests, from members of the Replacements to Stevie Nicks. How did you come up with them? Everybody that came out we knew or had played with before. The only exception being Marshall Crenshaw, who we just threw out there to our management to see if he’d be interested in playing with us. That worked out really well, Marshall’s a great guy and we’d be excited to do something with him again in the future. So Stevie Nicks, she also officiated your wedding, right? How do you know her? Through my wife [McCauley is married to singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton]. They’ve been friends for years. She was gonna be in New York and wanted to hang around for New Years and hopefully be able to stay long enough to meet our baby. My wife was talking to her on the phone, and I just kinda found the courage to ask her. And she said yes. So we picked out the song (“Rhiannon,” click here for video), and Deer Tick learned it. She came to sound check, that was the first time we ever performed it, and it was really cool. She actually had never been to a Deer Tick show before, but she liked it a lot. At the end of the night she just kept saying “I’m so glad that guys don’t suck, John. I’m so glad.” [Laughs] |
