Your dream On With The Show setlist

Hi everyone,
I like the set list for this tour. I know they feel compelled to play the hits. If you could hire Fleetwood Mac for a private show what 25 songs would you have them play this tour. 25 songs only.
Here is my dream set list:

Chain
You make loving fun
Straight back
Why
Storms
Crystal
Love in store
Everybody finds out
Brown eyes
Spare me a little
Tango in the night
Just crazy love
Silver springs
Everywhere
Second hand news
Oh Daddy
Landslide
Wish you were here
Go your own way
Isn't it midnight
Nights in Estoril
Over and over
Beautiful child
Save me a place
Don't Stop

shackin'up 10-05-2014 08:15 AM

Tusk in it's entirety,

+

Go Your Own Way
Why
Love in Store
Oh Well
And ofcourse a new, buckinghamproduced FM song from Stevie Nicks, including threeway harmonies.

Steviegirl 10-05-2014 08:35 AM

I had never heard of "Nights in Estoril." Good GRIEF, that's a beautiful song...and Christine's voice! Does Lindsey sing on it?

No, .... Nights in Estoril is from 1995's Time album that sold about 500 copies. Estoril is a city in Portugal and is a rocking love song obviously about Chris's Portuguese husband Eddy Quintela. No Lindsey does not sing on it. This was the time that Stevie and Lindsey left and Chris was no longer touring with the band but agreed to record with them.

Here is the song. It would be a killer live. Romantic but rocking.

Well, I was thinking about how the setlist could be improved, since that is fun for me. Maybe a part of me wishes I was part of the band's management and could make suggestions. I think Over My Head is fine, but really should move to much earlier in the set. Toward the end, it takes out a lot of the momentum. It's probably too late now, but they could have spoken before Over My Head and said they wanted to take us through their albums together. Over My Head was the first single--thus, that would mark the beginning of this musical journey, starting with the White Album. This is what I came up with...maybe it would change up the pacing for the better? For my own dream setlist, it would be quite different than this, which is just playing around with what they already have.

This would be mine too, but instead of Beautiful Child it would be Sara, instead of Think About Me it would be Brown Eyes or Over and Over and instead of What Makes You Think You're The One, it would be Not That Funny, closer to how they did it in 1979-1980 where Christine's piano has a more prominent role.

bethelblues 10-05-2014 09:23 AM

I think that set above would do very well with presenting the catalogue of the Nicks-McVie-Buckingham era of FM in a very logical and meaningful way.

I also wonder what ever happened with Brown Eyes. Christine told Darren Haynes it would be included. Very strange it was never rehearsed...or maybe that's just what Mick said?

jcalzaretta 10-05-2014 09:27 AM

I would have made the following changes to the setlist.

I liked their selection being about the 3 part harmony. I just don't find Tusk that great without the USC marching band. Big Love is boring to me. I used Say Goodbye and Bleed to Love Her instead.

I don't like Everywhere - and replaced it with Hold Me, which is stellar.

And I know it slows down the encore a bit. I don't think Don't Stop should be encore. And I think Landslide is one of their most popular and it should be in the encore.

Anyway - I am flexible with moving songs around but other than 3 songs, I loved the set list for this tour.

FM77 10-05-2014 09:33 AM

The crowd response for the two shows I have seen should solidify no setlist changes. Unless someone decides they can't sing/play something, this is it kids.

glad to hear. although my dream setlist would look very different, i want to hear this one in person... hope it holds up!

i can't wait to experience Tusk in person with Christine and her harmonica upfront! and you'd take away Tusk now that she's back??

i love Bleed to Love Her and it does have some very intricate guitar parts, although nowhere near Big Love. it's definitely more suitable than some other suggestions who want to replace Big Love with Crystal or some such nonsensical change, but if you want to replace it with equivalent piece showcasing LB's incredible guitar skills, there is probably only one song that can come somewhat close to it:

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=756226837772359

(a part of the whole soundcheck video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQjTJeaIQTo )

Don't Stop is huge (thanks to Clinton!), and more so than Landslide, although yeah Landslide and GYOW are getting close. so i'm not really sure how your logic about popularity and encores works.

Thank you for the Red Rover video! That was something else...lovely!

I'd also have them doing medleys but they don't seem to like that:
Lindsey Tusk Medley: What Makes You Think You're the One/Walk a Thin Line/The Ledge

Tribute to Fleetwood Mac: Albatross/Black Magic Woman/Oh Well

They need more songs where they're singing together: Think About Me, Angel, Crystal, I Don't Want to Know, Hold Me, etc.

I'd like to hear "Crystal" played live one day. Christine playing a few of her early Mac songs would be cool too. I wonder if she doesn't think those songs are ones to be proud of? I know she's dissed the work she did on the Legendary Christine Perfect Album. When the new album comes out there's even a lesser chance of hearing some of the deep cuts. I'm really just happy they are playing together at all though.

I'm still going with a 28 song setlist. Of all the recent Fleetwood Mac tours, "On With The Show" certainly warrants a 3 hour show - many other major rock groups do this (it's really only a few more songs, anyways)...

01. The Chain

Here's a dream that would be worth everything to see in person. Clearly not gonna happen....29 songs (with medleys)

Tusk (fast 2004 version...not with a slow, angst-ridden open like LB does now for this one and Never Going Back Again)
You Make Loving Fun
Dreams
Second Hand News
Hold Me (or Over My Head, if you want to introduce the Rumours band's first ever hit single and begin a musical journey)
Angel (or Sara)
LB Tusk Medley (shortened length for each one...counts as 1 song): What Makes You Think You're the One/Walk a Thin Line/The Ledge
Brown Eyes
Beautiful Child
Love In Store (OR Say You Love Me--OR--Think About Me, if Sara instead of Angel)
-----
ACOUSTIC SET (Choose 1 Lindsey, 1 Chris, with Gypsy and Crystal = 4 total)
Big Love
Red Rover
Oh Daddy
Honey Hi
Gypsy
Crystal
-----
Fireflies
Fleetwood Mac Peter Green Tribute Medley: Albatross/Black Magic Woman (sung by Christine)/Oh Well
Why
Rhiannon
Isn't It Midnight
Tango in the Night (or I'm So Afraid--guitar solo)
Little Lies
Gold Dust Woman
Don't Stop

Hmmm, not sure I see how that's any different than you wanting "Sara" gone, despite all those who wanted to hear Christine playing on it again after all these years. If a song doesn't do it for you, it just doesn't do it for you. ;) :wavey:

I really would have liked a few new songs in the set, just two or three. We know Christine and Lindsey have new material they could have played.

Isn't It Midnight
Gold Dust Woman
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Brown Eyes
Rhiannon
Tango in the Night
Gypsy

For the current set list I would just take out Over my Head and Silver Springs and add Hold Me and Sara in their places and add Blue Letter as an encore.

I can definitely see what you are saying about the smoothness of her voice fitting it. Never really considered Lindsey as having an inappropriate voice for it- I just pictured it delivered as a 'breathy' (Save Me a Place) type of effort.

Montclare 10-06-2014 07:14 PM

It doesn't have to be in this order, but-

The Chain
Spare Me a Little

Never Make Me Cry
Storms
Never Going Back Again (original version, not the slowed down one)
Little Lies (wasn't an original choice for me, but it was really good at the concert)

I Know I'm Not Wrong
Angel
Big Love
Why
Landslide
Tusk
Fireflies
I'm So Afraid

If I were cheating, I'd add Gold Dust Woman, Sisters of the Moon, and Eyes of the World.

I love the thought of hearing NYLSB live with Christine singing lead! It's one of my favorites and it'd be nice to see an older song brushed off. I wonder why Mick and John don't push for something like this.

I just don't get why they never dust off this song and bring it back. Can you imagine how much more effective it would be with Stevie dancing and twirling, "playing" the Black Magic Woman? They bring back Oh Well occasionally. I think BMW is one of the band's greatest songs...they should reclaim it as originally Fleetwood Mac's.

Interesting question. She only performed her earlier songs circa 1975-1976.

As soon the Rumours era band began to gain momentum, the new songs took the place of the ones that came before, especially because she was on a roll with an impressive string of hits. Christine doesn't seem to have too much of a sentimental attachment to her songs.

I love all of her Fleetwood Mac songs circa 1971-1974, as well as her overlooked songs featured on the Time album.

I suppose the only time you would hear her early Mac songs these days is if she would go on a solo tour(fat chance) or does a one off performance with the likes of a Mick's garage band. Even then I suppose they would be few and far between. I too really enjoy all those Middle Mac songs. Oh Christine, why do you write so many awesome songs?!

michelej1 10-07-2014 07:57 PM

Too bad Christine can't find something like Crossroads where she could appear without Fleetwood Mac and showcase some of her songs in another setting.

This is a dream set-list to me -- it gets rid of dreary and/or overlong live tracks like "I'm So Afraid," "Over My Head," and "Sisters of the Moon." Each songwriter has at least one track from all five albums, too -- which I think is a better representative of their work as a whole. Also, I'm dying to hear "Think About Me" and "Hold Me" live.

All in all, we've got 8 Rumours tracks, 5 Fleetwood Mac tracks, 4 Tango in the Night tracks, 4 Tusk tracks, 3 Mirage tracks, and 1 unfortunate b-side.

Something tells me that even if we were billionaires and could afford to book them, the setlist would still ultimately be in the hands of the band. They'd have to rehearse for a month...maybe they'd take 1 or 2 special requests, with a price of course?
