Starshine

Starshine was played this morning by Ken Bruce on his BBC Radio 2 programme.

At about 2.22.00-ish. Recording now then will edit and upload soon once I've gotten my sister to go back to bed, lol.

And... I've left the intro and outro in from Ken. Hopefully will have the proper iTunes track in a couple of hours.

Thanks! How exciting!! :]:] A good bouncy rocker for the radio :)

I'm quite impressed with the radio publicity so far in the UK. Many artists don't get any exposure on major radio stations.

Jondalar 09-15-2014 08:19 AM

I eat my words. That is about 100x better than the demo and I really like it a lot. They turned into a real song- a bouncy throwback to the 70s. :)

pattyfan 09-15-2014 08:20 AM

Awesome. Thanks so much. I really like it. I think this CD is going to be right up there with Bella Donna and The Wild Heart. :)

BTW, how did you find that???? I assume you didn't just happen to listen to the BBC radio station on line and it just came on. Anyway, I'm impressed. :)

I assume the original poster just heard it on the regular radio as they went about their day, seeing as they seem to be from Berkshire. I actually DO often just randomly listen to BBC R1, R2 and 6 Music online but not today. Just searched for the programme once I saw this thread, lol.

louielouie2000 09-15-2014 08:27 AM

What a fun little song! By far my favorite of the full tracks we've gotten. Stevie's voice really impresses me here. What a perfect foot-tapping way to open up an album!

Can't believe I like this song but I do! Very fun!

On Ice 09-15-2014 08:37 AM

Smokin' little tune, great pace and perfectly sung. We're in for a real treat here folks.

Danielle 09-15-2014 08:42 AM

Nicole, again, thank you!
This song is just amazing! I am so happy that I actually love the three songs so far. :]

I am indeed an avid listener to BBC Radio 2 and especially Mr Ken Bruce.......I find he helps with the Monday morning ironing....
And Stevie certainly helped....

BombaySapphire3 09-15-2014 09:00 AM

Wow ! fully fleshed out and much improved over the demo.Things are looking up for 24KG!

shackin'up 09-15-2014 09:37 AM

Although she sounds a little like a monkey on helium on this one, I like the bouncyness of it. Nice.

sorcerer999 09-15-2014 09:39 AM

Thank you so very much, Nicole!!'

This is crazy good!!! Once again, Stevie manages to take one of my least favorite demos and turn it into a great great GREAT SONG!

I love everything about this! Got a huge smile on my face when I heard that she added the "runaway now...down, down baby...told you what to do with your life but you could not save me..." part from demo vocal take 4!!!

The musicianship is superb! I will be listening to this one 1000 times today! :D

mitzo 09-15-2014 09:49 AM

To me it sounds great for its genre, considering this is not my type of Stevie song. At all.

Well I guess a backhanded compliment is better than none at all.

sorcerer999 09-15-2014 09:55 AM

Definitely the most rocking, up-tempo track opener since "I Can't Wait"! I love the final "vocal run" (Olympics :D) that she does on the final "Starshine" to end the song!

markolas 09-15-2014 09:55 AM

Love it. I always thought the demo had potential, and they really brought out the greatness in it. She could use this as a concert opener, like Enchanted.

BombaySapphire3 09-15-2014 10:00 AM

This song just sounds so great even on tiny and tinny computer speakers..I can't wait until 9pm PST to get the MP3 and play it on some better speakers:blob2:

vivfox 09-15-2014 10:02 AM

Once again Nicole you are the first to bring us something new and exciting. Thank you!!! I love this song. It is sooo nice to hear a good rock song of hers played on the radio. My fave part was the vocal ending and I really love the musical bridge in mid song.

Lisa W 09-15-2014 10:38 AM

Wow - I love this track! What a great way to open the album.

x infinity!!! If not for you, those of us in other parts of the world wouldn't have gotten a sneak peak at the tracklist before it was released!

I think I can speak for ALL OF US on this forum when I say we EXTREMELY APPRECIATE you keeping us updated and sharing everything that you get so early (first sunrise) in your part of the world! Cheers!!! :xoxo:

sorcerer999 09-15-2014 11:39 AM

The Instagram snippet is up, by the way! :)

BlueDenimLamp 09-15-2014 11:51 AM

Better late than never...

I'm liking the fact that Stevie has revived a lot of the little bits from long ago (Keyboards/ Percussion / Vocal ad libs ) And I think this combination of Stevie , Dave and Waddy works quite well...Maybe they should write some songs and make a record as a band instead of "Stevie Nicks"...Go back to Nashville write and record 10 songs on the fly and put out a album...The only question is what will they call themselves???

YES! Thank you, thank you, Nicole!

I CANNOT stop listening to this song - it far exceeds my expectations (and that's saying something!). Love.

Well, in this case the Brits actually got it before us, lol. Again, it took until 3am for it to appear on the Australian iTunes Store.

Happy to help though. Turned out far better than I thought it would, honestly.

I think that's caused by maybe the tumber player, because it doesn't sound that way on the Instagram clip at all.

I LOVE it!!!

Please also accept my thanks Nicole. Hearing this track has put me in such a good mood and is a great start to my week!

GREAT VERSION. ..LOVE IT!

blinker12 09-15-2014 01:02 PM

Nice! What a fun track.

It has a very "Angel-live-on-the-White-Winged-Dove-tour" vibe to it -- one of my favorite of her live performances.

Oh my god I LOVE THIS! This is great

Firstly, I AM VERY HAPPY THAT SO MANY PEOPLE LIKE THIS TRACK. I truly am.

This is one of those instances where I feel like I wrote down the wrong address to the party or took a seat in the wrong classroom. This track just doesn't do it for me.

Don't feel alone in this. I have to say that it doesn't really grab me either. I did only hear the short snippet though, so maybe I will like the full product better, or at least maybe it will grow on me.

Just give it a chance when you can listen to it from ITunes or Amazon and on some good speakers...the sound quality on the BBC feed is terrible..I had some trepidations about this one but I just don't see how the final product could be any better.

I'm not feeling it, either. I love all the snippets and singles we've gotten, but not this one. It's too "choppy" for me (not "smooth", if you know what I mean). But that's the same reason I don't like the demo jams either. And I don't really hear 1970's as some have commented; to me, this is more 1980's sounding, you know, that "choppy", unsmooth 80's sound.
