she is facing some strong competition
Annie Lennox is releasing. Nostalgia. And you+i (p!nk and dallas green) are releasing rose ave
|
I didn't know about the new P!nk music! So excited to hear all 3 of those cds!!
|
Stevie will hold her own, especially among other artists of her generation.
Off topic: I just found out Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga have a duet album coming out. I'm going to get it; my first Gaga purchase! |
More uplifting news.
|
I dont know about Pinks tunes .I'm not into her tunes but its nice to see Annie is coming out with a new album.
Wow.Tony Bennett. He is my parents favorite.I enjoy his tunes too.Its very interesting to see Lady Gaga is with him.I wish that Stevie record some classic tunes with Tony and other artists of his generation before its to late in the game. |
I believe Jackson Browne also has an album release on 10/7. It won't sell as much as the others referenced, but I'll be buying it.

I don't think Lennox will come close to any "competition". Her album is a bunch of jazz standards. Besides I don't think I have ever heard anyone bring her name up in like 15 years.
Lots of albums are dropping for the final quarter going into holiday season. I think the biggest album drop will be Adele in November. But don't forget the ruckus that will be Pink Floyd in October, their first album in 20 years. Some other artists (new and old) coming in Sept and Oct: Melissa Etheridge Billy Idol Taylor Swift John Mellencamp Bryan Adams Lauren Hill (rumored) Prince (not one, but two albums dropping) |

Lucinda Williams too. And if any of you are Lu fans, it's a double CD. They have previewed a few tracks and I like the two that I heard a lot. Believe it or not, she has already recoded a 3rd CD and will release it probably next year. :)

Well, like Stevie & Lindsey, Annie is Dave's "other half". They had a million hits in the 80's with a band called Eurythmics before Annie went solo in the 90's. |

Also, I LOVE Annie's music and image. My introduction to her music (bar The Eurythmics, which I already knew), however, was kind of solely because at age 15 I was in love with Hugh Laurie and he appears in one of her music videos... |

Barbra Streisand has one dropping tomorrow, which I ordered. It's called 'Partners" and it has duets with big names like Billy Joel, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder among others.
She's on Jimmy Fallon tonight and I think they're going to do a funny duet like the one he did with Ms. Nicks. |

Streisand is promoting her album in a way I never thought she would, really good job.
I've heard the album and even though I think she has the world's most beautiful voice, I wasn't too thrilled to listen to the same songs now sung with a bunch of male singers I don't care about, still, I have no doubt she's going to sell very well due to good publicity mostly. I have to say it took the Nicks/Stewart partnership to remind me of how amazing Annie Lennox is and I'll certainly buy her album. :) |

That said, I was really surprised when I saw Fleetwood Mac on their previous tour. The majority of the audience was probably 35-65 in age( lot of gray heads), but there were more 20 -somethings than I expected -- a small demographic of smart "youngsters" who appreciate the older bands and music many generations behind them. |
I can't think of a WORSE idea than Stevie collaborating with Tony Bennett or doing an album of standards. Boo! Just my humble opinion, as always.
Stick to Rock & Roll, Stevie! Keep writing your own stuff! |

Don't get me started on Patty Griffin.....she is just an angel !!!!! |

I guess I was referencing Tony Bennett's duet with Amy Winehouse (one of the last things she did before dying). But she was in an entirely different musical wheelhouse than Stevie. |

My sister had two of her albums that I listened to for a while, then completely lost interest; it just wasn't the style of music I gravitated to. I remember only her Superman album cover. I listened to that album for a while, but now can't recall any of the songs! I know she's had a prolific career, with dozens of albums. By chance, Jimmy actually held up the Superman album, I couldn't believe it! |
Great! Another 2001 matchup. And the Grammy goes to Lucinda... She would have to release an album this year. Critics and Grammy darling.

Just my opinion. |

She would be great with Tony.My mom loved Tony Bennett and she went to his concerts over the years when he came to the Oakdale theater here. Hahaha I was one of those grayheads .LOL.I did notice there was some of the young crowd in the audience of FM and Stevie's solo shows.Good for them and welcome aboard. My nephew which he is age 25 loves classic rock and top 40 music and loves FM and Stevie tunes as my other nephew which is 29 years old enjoys rap and other current rock tunes .My niece which is 24 likes the easy listening music in likes of Celine Dion. |

I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole release yet, but I will tomorrow. (Kevin wanted to know my opinion.) Jamie |

Itunes has it for 7.99 - definitely a bargain. |

What's Up Doc? One of my favorite movies of ALL time. She was great on Fallon - looser than I'd expect - which was in her favor. Sounds great, still. And does Richard really think no one has mentioned Annie's name in 15 years?!? By the looks of her album trailer - Nostalgia is going to be one hell of an album. My biggest expectation for this fall - well, of course a tie with Stevie... |

I heard her duet with Stevie Wonder on the radio and thought it was awful. Not for me thanks.

Speaking of Lucinda Williams

"24 Karat Gold". Although Stevie will get my first listen, the new Lu is one of the best records (and double at that) that I've heard in a long while. |
