"I Don't Care" Preview

sorcerer999 08-29-2014 12:32 PM

Hmmm…well, my first impression is…LOVE the music! LOVE her vocal! It’s the lyrics that I’m not sure about. But, yet again, here we have only 10 seconds to go by. Like everything else, reserving judgment for the first listen of the FULL ALBUM!

welcomechris 08-29-2014 12:34 PM

Another "I Don't Care" snippet! This sounds great!

Johnny Stew 08-29-2014 12:36 PM

If Stevie had released this back when she originally wrote it, she would have rendered that Backstreet Boys song redundant by 10 or 12 years. ;)

"I don't care who you are, where you're from, what you did -- as long as you love me."

I guess we can safely say that this isn't a "re-titled" old demo that we've heard previously.

UNLESS...both the old and new "snippits" are just added words to an old demo, a la "Moonlight".

Jondalar 08-29-2014 12:49 PM

I like this a lot. It's a little Led Zeppelin.

louielouie2000 08-29-2014 12:49 PM

I'm just glad we finally have a rocking clip.

"Belle Fleur" was a rocking clip!

That was countryish.

There are a bunch negative comments about this clip on Facebook which is surprising. Think people forget she is a rock artist.

ONCE AGAIN, that's your opinion. In MY opinion, it's a fast moving ROCK song.

Yeah and there are plenty negatives over this. Maybe she should of released a different part of the song. The lyrics are generic.

Rod~A~Little 08-29-2014 01:17 PM

The clip I've been waiting on! Stevie is singing as if she's kicking and screaming. Love the attitude...it reminds me of the way she sang on Smile At You..the angry version. Can't wait to hear the whole thing! This just made my Friday so much better!!!

being who she is , she probably heard or read it all ....until she hired Madonna's publicist she was the joke of the music industry , with Liz she bought respect .

I could care less what people think My husband can't stand her so what

markolas 08-29-2014 01:56 PM

Most of the people commenting on her FB page appear to be functionally illiterate. That makes it difficult to take their opinions seriously.

This sounds very interesting, and I like it a lot.

APerfectLie 08-29-2014 01:59 PM

Not really liking this part of the song, but I loved loved loved the first clip we heard of it. Maybe it will turn out like Everybody Loves You, which also had a lot of hate based on the intial snippet.

jkmaletic 08-29-2014 02:20 PM

I like this a lot. I love the attitude, as someone else mentioned. Although the 15 second clips can be frustrating, it is nice that they're doing this. Better than nothing.

Jamie

"ELY" was my 2nd fav song on IYD. And I HATED the first snippit of it. We can only hope this will be the same. Not that I'm disappointed with it, but the lyrics just seem so...I don't know...done a million times before?

The music and vocals are awesome. It's just those lyrics, man!

BlueDenimLamp 08-29-2014 03:10 PM

Well this is different from the clip Dave posted..."I Don't care"

Judging by the clips it is a rocking song indeed...

MoonSister75 08-29-2014 03:17 PM

This is my least favourite clip so far - just personal taste on the style of song though. The song sounds good and the vocals are excellent. It will probably be one of those that grows on me when I can listen to the whole thing. I'm glad it's a change in music style from the other clips, variety on an album is so important to keep it interesting. Stevie's always liked her rockers so it's good to see one here :)

Johnny Stew 08-29-2014 03:17 PM

I like the guy who said, "Come on Stevie we need another scorcerer or rihanna."

Yes, I really do wish she would write another "Rihanna." That's my favorite song of hers. "Scorcerer" ain't half bad either.

Yep I prefer this clip. Looks like Stevie's enjoying it - go for it Stevie!! :blob2:

editme2 08-29-2014 03:37 PM

Yikes! The people on Facebook are being so cruel. All this hate for a 15-second clip.

I will say this clip isn't my favorite of the bunch released so far, but it's not bad. It sounds like a slow-burning blues/rock track that (based on Dave's earlier clip) picks up momentum as it goes along. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the entire (6-minute-long!) version.

It's funny how people just cling so desperately to the young version of Stevie and have a hard time accepting that she's a 66-year-old woman who's voice has changed, who's look has evolved, yet who's passion and commitment to music and her fans is as strong as ever. I'm glad Stevie doesn't check her Facebook page, especially today!

Yep, and they expect every song to sound like "Silver Springs" or "Landslide."

Or "Rihanna" and "Scorcerer."

I know, just brilliant

Machu 08-29-2014 06:04 PM

I like it a lot. I also love that it is clearly going to build from a slow rocker to an all-out head banger.

So far, my ranking of the snippets (not including the two full songs we have):

01. Belle Fleur
02. Mabel Normand
03. I Don't Care
04. If You Were My Love
05. All The Beautiful Worlds

What I think is going to be so great about this album is that the songs sound so diverse that everybody's favorites are likely going to be dramatically different. I can see why people would dislike "I Don't Care" if they are fans of the 'airy-fairy' Stevie but I remember many comments from people wishing there was more rock on In Your Dreams and this is definitely ROCK. Luckily, I like both!

It's that kind of illiterate hilarity that keeps me from being too upset at the exceptionally rude commentary. I wish she or her team would go on Facebook and tell some of these people to go f@c& off. :sorry:

Edit: Actually I wish she'd pretend to be a witch and tell them they're cursed or something.

Mine would be:

1. All The Beautiful Worlds
2. Mabel Normand
3. Belle Fleur
4. If You Were My Love
5. I Don't Care

But I've liked everything, including "The Dealer" and "Lady".

wheart 08-29-2014 07:36 PM

LOVE IT!! The sound caught me by surprise since everything we've heard so far has been somewhat sedate in terms of production. Her vocal on this sounds killer also. This is the first snippet that made me really want to hear the entire song.

tabruns 08-29-2014 08:19 PM

I like it, and I think the snippets have shown a good diversity of music. So whoever it was that said "It all sounds the same" needs a head check.

BombaySapphire3 08-29-2014 08:51 PM

I'm with the people who like the vocals and sound of the song but feel that the lyrics are a bit pedestrian .I noticed that this song is so far the longest on the album that has a time posted .So just hoping it isn't nearly 6 minutes of "I Don't Care" repeated interminably.

sorcerer999 08-29-2014 09:35 PM

Tell me if anyone had the same experience upon listening to this clip for the first time...

She sings the first two lines...

"I don't care where you go
I don't care what you do..."

(I start bobbing my head and groovin' out to the music and the rhythm)

She sings the next line...

"I don't care what you said..."

(still bobbing the head and groovin' and waiting for a good line and word that rhymes with "do")

and then she sings...

"I just care that you love me!!!"

HUH? (double take) Well...THAT was a bit unexpected.

Anyone else put off by this, just a little bit? Like I said before, it's only 15 seconds of a sample, and I'm sure there is a hell of a lot more going on in this song (as evidenced by Dave Stewart's FIRST video snippit many months ago) but I just found it odd that they decided to post this portion of the song.

WatchChain 08-29-2014 09:49 PM

It's hard to tell what anything will sound like with only a 10 second snippet. However, I must say that I'm unimpressed by "I Don't Care" thus far. This is the first track what I'm not really excited about.

The lyrics in the snippet are not impressive but the music is good. The snippet backfired.
