Belle Fleur Preivew

It's up! :D

louielouie2000 08-19-2014 12:51 PM

I'm digging the more rocking sound! :D

sorcerer999 08-19-2014 12:51 PM

Kick ASS!!! WOW!!! I'm getting more and more excited about this album every time they release a snippit ~ as much of a "tease" as they are!

Loving that it's a fast song! Loving her voice!

Christopher 08-19-2014 12:51 PM

On first listen Belle Fleur really reminds me of Annabel Lee musically

Same here. That guitar is crunchy, and I like it a lot.

KarmaContestant 08-19-2014 12:58 PM

Anmazing how close to the demos Stevie is staying with all of these songs so far.

loverly13 08-19-2014 12:58 PM

Love the sound, but I still don't understand why the only pictures we're getting are RAL era ones.

BlueLight 08-19-2014 01:00 PM

Love this and love the sound. Production sounds solid, and loving Stevie's voice! So excited for one of my fav demos to finally receive the attention it deserves! :D

Her voice seems like it's pretty prominent on this album. And it's strong, too - I'm really pleased so far, and even more excited for the record (if that's possible, lol). :]

Agreed. This could either work favorably for a particular song, or work against another. I'm really digging what we've heard so far, though! 42 MORE DAYS!!!

Agreed! I really love The Dealer, but from what we've heard so far, these other tracks blow it out of the water!

I Agree. It would all but seem that "24 Karat Gold" is turning out to be Stevie Nicks' bona fide rock record out of her entire solo catalog & career! Sprinkeled with a few ballads - If You Were My Love, Blue Water, She Loves Him Still, (and perhaps, "Lady".)

This new version of "Belle" sounds slightly faster, unquestionably bigger, and more piercing than the full band outtake recording of Belle Fluer during the Wild Heart session by far. Which is the opposite effect they went for on "The Dealer", which is more sparse and subdued musically, until the rollicking final chorus kicks it up a notch.

I'm struck by the raw musical aesthetic of these snippets (esp. "Belle" , Mabel" & "I Don't Care) which sound Petty-esque, moreso than anything Stevie has done before, including Bella Donna. I wouldn't be surprised that Stevie rallied for a more straight forward rocking record with much less polish and overdubs. So far, each song teaser is far from the production sheen of TISL and IYD.

Rod~A~Little 08-19-2014 01:20 PM

I have to agree with Christopher. It reminds me a lot of Annabel Lee. She sounds great though! Love how they are keeping her voice as the prominent instrument that it should be!

Also glad the people around her have finally got her utilizing the social media such as FB, Instagram, YouTube, etc. looks like its already paying off!

Just my guess - there are probably *so many* photos from the era we haven't seen.

I'm actually LOVING all these newly discovered (to us, at least) "Rock A Little" era photos! When it comes to the way she dressed, wore her hair, and set up the backgrounds for her photo shoots and selfies, RAL is my favorite era. This photo book is one big BONUS and I bet it will turn out to be something "exquisite" (no pun intended).

Hawkeye 08-19-2014 01:57 PM

I like it. Not as mind blowing as MD but I'll need to hear more .

And I was really hoping for one of the mystery titles to get this weeks clip. Oh well

Hopefully we'll continue to get 2 tracks per week, so it's still possible!

Rachelclaire 08-19-2014 02:12 PM

I am one happy camper today, I am getting so excited for this album. Personally I think this could be one of the best albums Stevie has ever done.

louielouie2000 08-19-2014 02:18 PM

This has quickly become my favorite snippet so far. Which is unexpected for me, it really wasn't one of the demos that captured my heart. But this finished clip is a real foot tapper- I could easily see this making a splash on the country charts. I wonder if this is something Camp Stevie has ever considered venturing into?

I know I've said it before, but I can't get over how 100% classic every single one of these songs is sounding. This might just shape up to be the most critically acclaimed album of Stevie's career.

Rod~A~Little 08-19-2014 02:22 PM

I loved the RAL era/album as well. I love seeing her "selfies" during that time period. I think it was a brilliant move to record these demos and turn them into an album. There are a few demos I would have loved to seen make the album, but I'm not complaining at all. I figured it was going to be another 10 years after IYDs before another album surfaced. And, I believe her when she sings, "I sing for the things money can't buy."

I would guess that we'll get "Lady" on Friday, since it'll supposably be available for download Monday 8/25
I'm real curious about what song this is? Is it a demo we've not heard? Or a reworked title of "China Doll", "Rich Old Lady", or most likely to be "Knocking On Doors!?? In my dreams, it's "Chanel, Chanel" (Lady traveler) - yeah, that's likely wishful thinking, but it sure would fit with "Mabel", & "Belle Fleur's"current sound & style.;)

Ooo! Love that idea.

jkmaletic 08-19-2014 02:50 PM

ANOTHER home run clip!

I'm so excited about these songs and the upcoming album. I know this is going to sound kinda weird, but 24K is sort of bittersweet for me because it truly marks the end of In Your Dreams, which I loved, and love, so much. So far, it feels like 24K is going to be just as good as IYD, musically. As discussed on other boards, the only unfortunate thing about 24K is the timing of it's release. Would have been more ideal if it coincided with a solo tour, but I get why she wanted to get it out now.

And yes, PROPS to her people for finally using social media networks!!

Jamie

I really think (based on what little we've heard, mind you) that you could be right! Perhaps some Grammy nods and (finally) a RRHOF induction? It's sounding too good not to make a huge splash on the media radar, whether that be radio (who hasn't been playing her stuff for over a decade now), print, film (soundtracks), etc. And if it DOES turn out to be the most "critically acclaimed" of her career, how ironic would that be, seeing as how all these tracks were basically "castaways" (again, no pun intended) from previous efforts.

Agreed. In MY dreams, though, it's a proper version of "Lady From the Mountain"...but that's MY "wishful thinking", which is even more farfetched at this point.

I'm feeling that way too, like this album could 1) blow up, and 2) leave a mark when it does. I'm cautiously hopeful on that. There are some really (IMO) great albums out there that got next to no attention.

Machu 08-19-2014 05:43 PM

Belle Fleur is one demo I've always loved listening to. This sounds FANTASTIC!! Like everything I knew the song could be and more.

pwyll 08-19-2014 05:43 PM

Maybe it's me, but all of the tracks seem a wee bit too slow. Anyone else think this too?

James89 08-19-2014 05:48 PM

Love the demo. From my workings out, I reckon we'll be getting a preview of All The Beautiful Worlds on Friday.

I'll share in your dream because "Chanel, Chanel" is one of my favorites.

Not really. Stevie has been in a mid-tempo groove pretty much all her career with few exceptions. The fastest tempo song she's EVER released was "Fall From Grace" or "Enchanted"

"In Your Dreams" "Ghosts Are Gone" are fast songs as well...

SameGlassTable 08-19-2014 06:27 PM

I love it !
I think the mid tempo groove is totally Stevie
Gypsy , Dreams , Sara , Secret Love .etc
All have a similar BPM's
Coincidentally (or not ) it is very similar to the average resting. human heart beat .

PenguinHead 08-19-2014 06:45 PM

We are getting a very distinct kind of album from Stevie. As others have mentioned, it's more straight forward rock and roll; less sheen and more grit.

I think this is the result of the atypical way she and Dave made the album; recorded in record time, so there was no room for tinkering -- they just banged the songs out, since the templates for them were already there. This process has served them well.

I endorse this statement.

bombaysaffires 08-19-2014 07:21 PM

It does seem though that there are very few if any piano/keyboards on these versions… which was kind of the hallmark of so many of the demos. Am curious if it really will be an overwhelmingly guitar-based bunch of songs. Sounds like it from the snippets, but who can tell.

oi, what are you doing in MY dreams? lol
that is my wish too
and a grammy for Stevie ... bloody hell
that might inspire her to do another record
i love everything off the album so far, snippet wise
i didn't think i would tbh

BombaySapphire3 08-19-2014 07:33 PM

Another great snippet .Love the production here.Belle Fleur had a strong melody to begin with so it didn't need much tampering with.I am anxious to hear what they did with some of the ones where the melody wasn't so strong.

Yeah. Listening to both "The Dealer" and the other 4 snippits thus far, it seems like they didn't do very many overdubs.

I agree that this is most probably the case, primarily due to time constraints, but it suits me rather well. There is much to admire on both TISL and IYD, but they do suffer from being over-produced in part. I imagine some fans will not respond well to the more stripped back production of 24KG if the response to "The Dealer" is any indication. There almost needs to be a warning sticker advising that these are essentially live takes and not polished performances.

I love that about it. I haven't been this excited about a Stevie Nicks album since I rushed out and bought Street Angel (at Wal-Mart, of all places, with one of those cuts in the side of the CD case, for $4.99).
