Lady
Guess What I Found... and old thread from 2008! It has a list of Rhiannon Film Project songs and Lady is one of them (Not lady from the mountain)
http://www.ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/sh...ad.php?t=36262 |
BlueCrystal was posting about unheard demos and the "Rhiannon" film project. "Lady" isn't one of the "Rhiannon" songs.

By my reckoning, "Lady" could be any of the following:
"Knocking On Doors" "Rich Old Lady" "China Doll" "Lady From The Mountain" My preference would be for "China Doll" to be resurrected, but I would also love a contemporary version of "Rich Old Lady". I realise it's likely that "Lady" will turn out to be "Knocking On Doors", but I wouldn't have thought it would be considered single-worthy. Imagine if it turned out to be "Lady From The Mountain" with the intense "so go with her" passage? Wow, that would be quite something... |
i would LOVE "Lady" to be Lady from the Mountain ... ala the RAL demo/outtake
Moonlight is good ... but it's not the same i kind of secretly hope that she dusted off the original demo and redid it without all the additional "Twilight" influenced caca "...you know that you loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove her..." i have chills. :woohoo: |
With the single release of "Lady" looming (8/25), I was just wondering how the pre-order single digital downloads will work? Upon purchase of the 24KG bundle, the download of "The Dealer" was made immediately available, but it had already been released on ITunes. With regard to the three follow-up singles, does anyone know if those who pre-ordered 24KG will receive email notifications that the downloads are available? I'm assuming these will be issued concurrently with the ITunes release dates, but is there confirmation of what will actually occur?

So, we're allegedly getting the Lady single on Monday. Something that occurred to me is that, since there are three singles, and 6 tracks with running times available in iTunes (other than The Dealer), what if...
1. The Dealer was just the promo single for the record? and 2. Lady is the first official single, and will be complete with music video and b-side? and 3. The other two singles also come with b-sides, and possibly music videos as well? That would at least explain the bizarre presence of some, but not all, running times in iTunes. Maybe we'll actually get two songs on Monday. I'm sure that's way too much to ask. :o I managed to get my hopes up anyway, lol. But also, Warner Bros. says the singles are TBD. So what if the three songs we think are singles are actually the b-sides, and Blue Water, I Don't Care, and If You Were My Love are actually the singles? Could you imagine if we got Blue Water and Lady on Monday? Ok, I'm going to stop hyperventilating over something that's extremely unlikely and go to bed. :D |

I just checked out the NZ iTunes store because a few people on Tumblr were asking me about the song during the past hour, and it's available for download there now. Waiting on the Australian store to get its act together so I can get the whole thing.

snippet of Lady is up, feels old fashioned :)
|
|
Reminds me of an Elton John song.
|
She's really putting a lot into those vocals. It feels like it's a hit from the 60's or 70's. I think I will like it a lot.
|
Now that the snippet of "Lady" is up and we all know the song is a new version of "Knocking On Doors" we can start speculating :]. This snippet came from an Itunes snippet so we know that it will soon be on iTunes in the UK and US. This snippet quality is dare I say - crap. But we have it and it sounds great to me!
|
Very happy that it is Knocking On Doors. :D Wow, that voice - it's obvious she put a lot into this one. I like it a lot.
|
Stunning. Raw, gorgeous, and wow she's really going for it. Excited to hear the full high-quality version!
|
It's so beautiful!
|
Sounds awesome. Love that they kept it simple.
|
I love this! I can't believe they did it that way. I really connect with this song. It holds a lot of meaning for me. Frustration is the story of my life. So well written and meaningful. I bet this one gets the video.

And edit: the vocals in that first part of the clip, wow - it's almost like she found that voice for an instant. It's beautiful. |

Not sure about the music video but there will most likely be a lyric video again |
WOW!!! What a nice surprise to wake up to first thing on a Sunday morning! :blob2:
I love that they kept it simple ~ just Stevie and a piano. It forces us to listen to her voice as the main focal point. She's singing in a lower key, obviously, but it's not THAT MUCH lower, and she's still singing it exactly like the demo ~ hitting the higher notes. Can't wait to hear this song in it's entirety. I have the day off today, but if I could wish it away as quickly as possible, I would! I wanna download "Lady" and listen to it NOW!!! |
Wow! I live in Napa Ca. so I first got jolted out of bed at 320 by a 6.1 earthquake and now this.:blob2:Really she hasn't done anything like this since her masterpiece ballads on Tusk .What a stunner. Can 't wait to get the full song at midnight EST hopefully.
|
People here have talked about her voice sounding strained on other clips, but I think she sounds strained on this one.
This one will have to grow on me. Maybe I'll like it better when I hear the whole song. Jamie |
Now that's better!
|
Truly one of Stevie's early gems and from the snippet, she's poured her heart out and delivered an amazing vocal with power and emotion. They've hit this one out of the park, can't wait for the whole song. :xoxo:

The song reminds me of old tunes from the 40's and her 'southern accent' that she conjures up works perfectly in this! I figured Lady was going to be Knockin On Doors. The lyrics have always made me think that she's talking about being a cleaning Lady and Knocking On Doors for work while she waits for that big break (light). Like she wishes she could see into the future and find out how or when it will happen. But Lindsey assures her; "Lady, you don't need to see" ...... It will happen! And now Stevie gets to tell us the story many years later. After she obtained 'the light'. It's rather touching. |
This surprised the hell out of me. Her vocals are AMAZING!!! This is her best vocal performance in a long time. It's so lovely to hear her range for once because for the last few years she hasn't properly shown what she can really do. This album is going to be bloody brilliant. :]
|
The o:52 minute mark of this snippit...when the piano player just bangs that very low E flat!!! And she starts into the "I know that things have to change..." part...
...GOOSEBUMPS!!! |

Oh and love the snippet. I don't think I've ever heard the demo before either. Her wonderful vibrato seems back. I hate to say this, but I always thought she sang differently after Steve Real came into the picture and Stevie proclaimed she never took lessons until then. I like her voice better untrained and wild. |
Eh.

Wow, love her higher vocals on this!!!
|
The 15-second clip posted on Instagram features a different portion of the song:
|
I like the way her voice sounds on the Instagram clip. She's straining badly on the first part of that iTunes clip. Meh. This is probably going to be one of those depressing songs I don't listen to much, like Has Anyone Ever Written...?
|
I wasn't sure about this on first listen, probably because I'm not familiar with the demo. Now after several more listens, I can understand why everyone is raving about this clip - it's fabulous, and I'm now addicted to playing it. I could be wrong..... but I think this album is going to be spectacular  How lucky are we?!!!! :]
|
Her rich vocals along with beautiful vibrato only add to this classic song.
