Top 10 favorite unreleased Stevie songs

I think it would be real fun for us ledges to pick the 17 song tracklist for Stevie's new YouTube album. And then see how close our picks are to the final track listing. I realize there's at least 2 other similar threads but this thread will have a point system so we can actually get an actual list going.

Rules: list your ten favorite Stevie demos (or outtake or unreleased finished song). Your number one will receive ten points your number two nine points and so on. Ill leave this thread open until june 1st, then add up the points and obviously the top 17 songs will be on our version of this album. Hopefully Stevie knows us well enough that at least most of the top 10 are on there.

Also, if we could pleas leave this thread strictly for our lists so it's not too cluttered. Don't discuss each others lists, don't comment on how badly lindsey wouldve ruined that song, or reply that you'll make a list only when Stevie sts foot in a studio with the rest of fleetwood Mac. Save all that for the other threads, and keep this one just to lists.

Hawkeye 05-18-2014 08:16 PM

1. Space Needle
2. Forsaken Love
3. Baby doll
4. All the beautiful worlds
5. 24 karat gold
6. Joan of arc
7. Something exquisite
8. Cecilia
9. Have a Heart
10. Julia

If you were my love would be in my top 5 but these are songs I want to be on this next album and I feel strongly that IYWML should be a fleetwood Mac song

Birds of Rhiannon (maker of birds, etc)
Forsaken Love
She Loves Him Still
Joan of Arc

This is a contest and everyone is going to pick that song because it is already on the album.

I'm not sure I can name 10 off the top of my head, but here are my favs in no particular order:

Joan Of Arc
If You Were My Love
Mirror, Mirror
Forest Of The Black Roses
Cecelia
Space Needle

Artemis 05-19-2014 08:44 AM

All The Beautiful Worlds
Joan of Arc
Julia
Call On Me For Magic
Have No Heart
Watch Devil
Space Needle
You Won't Forget Me (If that counts)
Rock A Bye Baby (although, this is one I'm fairly sure would sound horrible with her current voice)
At The Fair

sorcerer999 05-19-2014 05:47 PM

God, it's really hard to narrow it down to 10. But here goes...

1. Blue Water
2. Watch Devil
3. Night Gallery
4. China Doll
5. Sanctuary
6. Spinning Wheels (Christian)
7. Impossible Task
8. Forsaken Love
9. Joan Of Arc
10. If You Were My Love

I almost put "Lady From The Mountain" on this list, just because I think Stevie should (nay, MUST) record a proper version of this someday...but with the recording of "Moonlight" on the last record, (which I still enjoy) I doubt this will ever happen...and Boo!

Great thread idea, Hawkeye!!! :)

On Ice 05-19-2014 07:50 PM

So Many great songs to choose from. My Top Ten:

Julia
Baby Doll
You Like Me
The Dealer
Call on Me for Magic
Watchdevil
Blue Water
Three Birds of Rhiannon
Forest of the Black Roses
Sanctuary

Bubble under only slightly:

If you were my love
Mistaken Love

TrueFaith77 05-20-2014 11:58 AM

I think the only one I know is "Joan of Arc." And it's sublime.

Love the atmosphere. There is a strength in the music like Joan of Arc.

StevieNicksfann 05-20-2014 05:15 PM

1) Mistress of My Fate/The Dealer
2) Jimmy Come On Back
3) Tied Up (In Promises)
4) If You Were My Love
5) One More Tomorrow
6) All The Beautiful Worlds
7) This Is My Cross To Bear
8) Love And War/Mix Down
9) Chanel Chanel
10) It's Not A Dream

blinker12 05-20-2014 06:24 PM

(no particular order)

The Dealer
China Doll
Love You Enough
Baby Doll (weird keyboard version)
She Loves Him Still
Julia
Belle Fleur (full band)
Blue Water
Forest of the Black Roses
Three Birds of Rhiannon

Phil 05-20-2014 09:30 PM

1. She Loves Him Still
2. China Doll
3. Forest Of The Black Roses
4. The Dealer
5. All The Beautiful Worlds
6. Sanctuary
7. Mistaken Love
8. Maker Of Birds
9. Julia
10. I Call You Missing

I love the witchy vibe on “I Call You Missing” and think that’s how “Running Through The Garden” should have been produced.

Choosing only ten demos was difficult so I must also mention the likes of “Night Gallery” (this would make a better title than 24 Karat Gold) and “Mirror Mirror”. I know the latter was recorded and released as a b-side, but I love the 1992 re-recording and think Dave could progress this even further.

Sorcerer999, I wonder if there is a version of “Moonlight” that contains the “so go with her” crazy build-up that was in the original “Lady From The Mountain”? My only criticism of “Moonlight” was that it didn’t exploit what was the best part of the demo versions.

KarmaContestant 05-20-2014 10:39 PM

EDIT: I didn't realize the songs needed to be in order of best to least, so I've re-arranged them to be that way.

10 Favorites...pretty much.
She Loves Him Still
Forsaken Love
Forest of the Black Roses
Blue Water
All The King's Horses
Castaway
The Dealer
Chanel Chanel
Sanctuary
Jimmy Come Back

These three are no longer unreleased, but I'm not entirely loving the way they turned out...and hope that someday Stevie releases older demo or outtake versions on expanded remasters.
Love Is Like A River - Too many backing vocals, too many "hey hey's", the guitar is tacky. It doesn't retain the slightly vindictive, angsty energy of the Rock A Little outtake.
Thousand Days - the version recorded for Street Angel sort of...drones onward to nowhere.
Running Through The Garden - I love her SYW vocals, but not entirely happy with the instrumentation. It lacks the cocaine fueled urgency and intensity of the Rock A Little outtakes.

Not written by Stevie - but I would love to have her versions released.
Tied Up In Promises
Call On Me For Magic
- Such great vocals.

I bet there is. On the IYD documentary, during the part where Stevie is talking about how important Sharon and Lori have always been to her, there is a snippit played of the chorus, "Then go with her...etc" up to the "Burning..." part. So it seems like it was maybe recorded for "Moonlight". Maybe as an acapella opener or bridge or something that they decided to scrap. You're absolutely right, though. It IS the best part of the demo.

I just think they should re-record is as the regular "Lady From The Mountain" song that was presented in the original demo. I know they could make it it's own "stand alone" track, a part from "Moonlight", except of course for the melody/lyrics of the first and second verse. But they still could make it different AND the same (does that make sense?)

Sorry, Hawkeye, for rambling on and going off topic, but I just wanted to answer Phil.

There needs to be a particular order so point values can be assigned. Unless yourp just want me to give the dealer 10 and three birds 1.

singertobe 05-21-2014 08:29 PM

She Loves Him Still
Lady From The Mountain (the original)
Love You Enough

As long as these 3 are on the album, I'm happy :D

Phil 05-21-2014 09:48 PM

Thanks for that Sorcerer999. (I hadn't noticed the snippet because I couldn't bear to watch the IYD documentary in it's entirety.) I had wondered about this because it occurred to me that "Planets Of The Universe" was majorly edited for the TISL album version, with the full length version on the cd single restoring the "take your leave" section. I would love to get a complete version of "Moonlight" if it exists and of course, it should be retitled as either "Lady From The Mountain" or "Strange" - "Moonlight" is simply idiotic.
Apologies to Hawkeye for once again going off topic. :o

Hawkeye 05-28-2014 11:31 PM

Just a bump and a reminder that this thread will stay open for one more week until Wednesday June 3rd. Then I'll be doing some adding and figuring out we want this album's playlist to be.

Aussie W/Heart 05-29-2014 06:55 AM

#1 At The Fair
#2 All The Beautiful Worlds
#3 Call You Missing
#4 Tied Up In Promises
#5 Julia
#6 Chanel Chanel
#7 Forest Of The Black Roses
#8 Baby Doll
#9 Cecilia
#10 Belle Fleur

Tough to narrow all my favorites down to just:( 10

Im hoping for If You Were My Love to be included on the new Mac Album..

Danigirl 05-29-2014 11:58 AM

I'm going to be honest... I'm not well versed in unreleased Stevie. Once I had watched nearly every single YouTube vid featuring FM/Stevie, I began watching/listening to unreleased demos of Stevie's. I became obsessed with some in particular.

If You Were My Love
Watch Devil
The Dealer
All The Beautiful Worlds

Christopher 05-29-2014 01:39 PM

I realize that this is more than 10 selections, but the following are my very favorite demos/outtakes that I would LOVE to see recorded & released officially (and I'm sure I missed a few)

All The Beautiful Worlds
At The Fair
She Still Loves Him (or She Loves Him Still)
Forest Of The Black Roses
Maker Of Birds (Three Birds Of Rhiannon)
Forsaken Love
Chanel, Chanel
I Call You Missing
You Like Me (Don't You)
Something Exquisite
Joan Of Arc
The Charmed Ones (City Of Hope)
Belle Fleur
If You Were My Love
The Dealer
Julia
Space Needle

I think we are in for a bunch of surprises of which old "vault" songs they recorded. I'm sure Stevie selected some of her favorites. For instance, I would have never guessed that 24 Karat Gold would have been selected. I never thought it was as well liked a demo as most of her more mentioned demos on the fan boards. The same thought occured to me when they selected "Secret Love" out of nowhere. I liked it, but it was never a favorite demo.

BlueLight 05-29-2014 01:59 PM

Julia
The Dealer (Mistress Of My Fate)
If You Were My Love (although would love for this to be on a Mac album)
All The Beautiful Worlds
Love You Enough
Sanctuary
Night Gallery
The Charmed Ones
Forest Of The Black Roses
All The Kings Horses

But honestly, I'll be happy with whatever tracks we get! :D

Jondalar 05-29-2014 04:23 PM

I'll be happy with Maker of Birds. Such a sophisticated tune.

All The King's Horses
The Witch - Melacine

Baby Doll
Julia
Forsaken Love
The Dealer
If You Were My Love
Belle Fleur
All The Beautiful Worlds

No, YouTube album refers to the fact, Stevie said she is getting all of her songs from this album from what we fans have put on you tube. Really odd to think about in some ways but they're her words.

Puzzled by the love for The Dealer and Baby Doll. What am I not hearing, to me they are both excruciatingly dull.

I couldn't agree more. They're both a snooze fest! I don't understand the love for these two either...but then I love "Night Gallery" and "Impossible Task" so what do I know?

I love baby doll but agree 100 percent on the dealer. There isn't one of the 5o versions of the dealer I find enjoyable. Hopefully Dave Stevie and waddy can figure out something well all like

 I really like this song- probably this version the most. Her vocals and energy after the 3 minute mark, are stellar.

On the other hand, Night Gallery and Impossible Task....well....

:xoxo:

Oh, check out this strange fan creation; I absolutely love this - but I love electronica and dance music.
