Stevie Recording A New Album With Dave Stewart Producing In Nashville...
We have all been wondering what Stevie is up to in Nashville the past week...Unlike with the "IYD" sessions Dave has not tweeted any real details about the events going on...On Saturday (4/26) Mick attended a Jenny Boyd book signing at The Grove and our own "Hello Monster" was in attendance and this is from the transcription of what took place...

Before everyone goes crazy about Stevie recording in Nashville remember this is where Dave goes when he record his records and when Dave records in Nashville at Blackbird his records are started and finished in 2 weeks...Another thing to keep in mind is that just because Stevie is recording in Nashville at Blackbird it doesn't mean she's making a "country"album...Now that Mick has let the proverbial cat out of the bag let's hope Dave let's us in on what's going on... |
This had better not be somebody's sick idea of a joke.

If Stevie is recording a solo album could it be that she has told FM that she's not working/ touring with them 3 years in a row...I'm sure that Stevie and Lindsey only planned on touring FM for a year...

Maybe she's trying to pull a Beyoncé and release it completely unannounced.
Then again, it's weird to put out a solo album and then go tour with FM. So maybe she's getting the receding all over with and then waiting to release it till after FM has run it's course. |
I think Stevie believes this is the only window of time she has to do another solo album. I think FM is asking everyone for a two to three year commitment (tour, album, tour) and Stevie said ok but give me the first half of 2014 to work on other things first. I think she has one album left on her record contract so this will let her fulfill that and then she 'll turn her focus to FM (and maybe do a few solo shows between legs of FM tours).

If Stevie puts the album out in May, she could your June and July and be back with FM to rehearse in August.
But they would have to announce it pretty soon. |

Whether its through FM or her own, I am just happy to see some new material. |

I'm thrilled by this news! A new Stevie solo album one year and a new Mac album the next... that hasn't happened for the past 25 years.
This is win/win. The more music, the better. |

however, if FM waits for SN, and releases their album AFTER hers, even though the only reason it's not done and out is waiting for her, they are just a bunch of wusses. :p |

If they are serious about getting this record done really, really fast,It would explain why the recording is going on at Blackbird studios rather than Stevie's house. As was mentioned on the FM news site, Dave was able to do a few albums at Blackbird in like a week or something...Maybe a solo Stevie record is going to happen. Still not completely buying it...

Awesome!!!!
Stevie herself said it best in this bit of the Mill Valley Film Festival Q&A- @ 2:11-3:44 Whatever your projects are, do what YOU want to do. |

If the album is indeed finished in time for a summer release, I wouldn't be surprised if Stevie doesn't do a full-scale tour to promote it. I can see her doing a round of press, a few TV appearances, maybe a small handful of dates (possibly even with another artist) -- and then allowing the publicity generated from the Mac's tour to do the rest of the promotion.

If indeed Stevie has a solo cd in the wings to release next year then the Fleetwood Mac project has to be released this year.

It sounds like she's finally feeling inspired to write songs again, especially since she wanted to do a tribute to her mom. I think this is a really good sign: if she's working on her own projects, she will also be inspired to write for FM again. We lost the window for BN, let's hope this works for her and that it will lead to wonderful music (solo and group projects). |

Thought this might be a good time to bring up once again what Stevie said in JANUARY 2014 because I've seen some talk of 'but promoting it!?'
"We'll be back on the road at the end of next summer. So it's like - and I'm going, I'll do different stuff for the next four months. So you just keep going, you just keep moving... I can just tell you I'm looking forward to two different tours next year and I'm looking forward to American Horror Story..." |
I'd rather her save the material for a new Mac album. However, if she's writing tracks for both her solo and a Mac release then I guess that's OK. But if the Mac are gonna get her 'leftovers' from this project then I'm gonna be a bit furious. She had no new tracks for the EP and we finally have a real excuse for a new album thanks to Christine and the last time all five were involved, she was hardly there and we got subpar material because of it (I'll excuse Seven Wonders but the others are garbage compared to the majority of her written work).
With all this great Mac news, I just don't really know how I feel about this. I'm not really all that excited for it compared to how excited I am for a full-on Mac reunion. However, more Stevie songs is more Stevie songs and I guess I should be grateful? I just hope she brings her A game this time to the band. |
This is fantastic news! Thank you for the initial report on it...I am totally excited for another solo album so (relatively) quickly. I HOPE a Mac album comes out too, but for me, personally, the thought of another solo album is thrilling beyond belief!!

This is fantastic news! Thank you.

This is truly fantastic news!! :blob2: I am thrilled beyond words about FM's upcoming tour. But I feared that Christine's unexpected return would sidetrack Stevie from recording any solo work for the foreseeable future. Regardless of whether her solo project gets released this summer, or after the band's tour, we're looking at the possibility of both a SN and FM album within the next 12-18 months. And that's more than I ever would have hoped for.
On a related note, my understanding has been that Stevie has one album remaining on her WB contract. But an anonymous poster on fleetwoodmacnews.com referenced some rumors that she had resigned a new contract, requiring both a new studio album and yet another greatest hits compilation. Regardless, I'm excited to find out what's in the pipeline. |
