Best Chris song from Mirage
Which is your favorite?
|
Hold Me may be my favorite Christine song period.Love the production on this song and great video as well.
|
Seriously, I love them all!! But if I must put them in order, it would be like:
- Love in Store - Wish You Were Here - Only Over You - Hold Me I like Hold Me, but I think Chris really shines in WYWH and OOY. The piano, the arrangements, Lindsey's guitar and the harmonies are really amazing and sound very good! I love to hear Lindsey and Stevie's vocals on Love in Store, and I don't want to repeat it all the time, but I think that WYWH is the best end for a FM album (from the Rumours era, of course!!) Regards!! :D |
I love them all too. After most of her Tusk songs, Mirage and Tango was a come back. I ended up voting for Love in Store because I like her opening the albums and great Stevie harmony. WYWH was a great way to close the album. Hold Me is good but I don't listen to it too often. It gets old kind of fast. Only Over You great vocals lovely song.

Hold Me is just a masterpiece. I love them all.

Hold Me is one of the best FM songs, period. I like all of her Mirage songs, though.

Love In Store is one of the most underrated Fleetwood Mac songs.
I love the melody, the chorus, the harmonies -- it's pure perfect Christine McVie pop. It's also a fantastic kick-off to one of the best sequence of songs on any Fleetwood Mac album. I love how all of the songs on side 1 of Mirage hang together. It might not be their greatest albums, but wow - what a great side 1. Can't Go Back and That's Alright are right up there on my list of favorite FM songs. |

To me, "Hold Me" is Christine's best here. And one of her best overall. Here's a shining example of how Christine's very straightforward, no-frills, yet elegant, songwriting meeting with the production genius of Lindsey Buckingham. The sounds he extracts from his guitars on this song are nothing short of brilliant. |
Definitely Love In Store. Although I like Hold Me, I believe it's one of her most repetitive songs repeating the chorus 42 times and it does indeed get old real fast
|
I only like Hold Me and Only Over You. I really can't stand Love in Store and WYWH is just ok to me.

1. Love in store
2. Wish You Were Here 3. Hold Me 4. Only Over You |
1.Love in Store & Hold Me (tied)
2. Wish You Were Here 3. Only Over You |
Here's Mine
1. Love in Store 2. Hold Me 3. Wish You Were Here 4. Only Over You |
Like others have said, I adore all these songs... but Hold Me is in a class of it's own. I do find the remaining songs vastly underrated, though... even among Mac fans. Especially when it comes to Only Over You & Wish You Were Here. They're both gorgeous, lush ballads.

It's gotta be "Hold Me." It's the most fun. I really like "Love In Store" as well. Then I would be hard-pressed to decide between "Only Over You" and "Wish You Were Here" in the third spot.
I often have sung through Mirage when I've needed to pass the time.;) |
I love them all as well, and while "Hold Me" is an obvious choice I gotta throw some love at "Only Over You". :xoxo:

Wish You Were Here has always been a dud for me.
Don't know why -- I guess it's sort of a buzz-kill for the album. |

"Only Over You" & "Wish You Were Here" are about equal to my ears - sometimes they blur, and more or less seem like the same song, or a continuation of the same. I would have rather seen one Christine ballad on "Mirage", and I'd definitely nominate "Wish You Were Here." Her whole "OOOOOut of my mind..." part on "Only Over You" honestly sometimes makes me cringe, akin to nails on a chalkboard. Needless to say, I rarely listen to these two songs. "Mirage" could have benefitted from another mid to uptempo song, her two ballads made "Mirage" a more sleepy affair. I don't see "Mirage" as a high point for Chris at all. It's my opinion she only brought one great song to the project. She had much better songs on her 84' solo record which were all co-written, or not written by her at all except for "The Smile I Live For." |
I adore all of Christine's Mirage songs. I love the harmonies on Love in Store along with her vocal and piano on Wish You Were Here.

"Hold Me" and "Love In Store" are pretty great. The other two don't quite excite me as much.
My only problem with "Hold Me" is that it really could have used another verse later in the song (too many repetitions of the chorus). I really wish more Mac songs had vocal harmonies/arrangements like "Love in Store," not to mention "Honey Hi" or the outtake studio cover of "The Farmer's Daughter" (where all three singers are essentially on lead to some degree). In earlier years (1975-77), when she actually was present for more studio sessions, I listen to songs like "Monday Morning" and struggle to hear whether Stevie is really in there somewhere. |

I think the new album will have much more harmonizing of three voices. As much as Say You Will to us diehard fans sounded like two solos albums, there was more harmonizing using those two vocals instead of Lindsey using his voice to replicate the Stevie and Christine's sound.
|
I love "hold me" it's my favorite Fleetwood Mac song. I do think they could have added a little bit to the verses to make the beginning part of the song two minutes instead of a minute and a half.
Only over you is the second best Christine song on Mirage. Then Love in Store. |
Never Take Your Love Away..........
I'm hoping for a track on the new disc that has the impact of this great chorus like on Love in Store.
|
"Wish You Were Here" has taken on a whole new meaning for me. I'm using it as one of the songs for my dad's Memorial service.
|
That's beautiful, ChiliD.
