Definitive Christine Collection: Final Poll - Remove One Song
Okay Ledgies, after 3 months, a billion polls, and over 100 songs, finally here is the last poll in the "Just Perfect: The Definitive Christine McVie Collection"!
Vote to remove one song. Single choice. Poll closes in two days. We still need to work up liner notes and the sequencing for this collection. |
So hard, I love all these songs!! :(
|
Imma beat the next bitch that votes against ALAYF. I love that f*cking song!!!:mad::lol:
|
I don't know what to vote for.
|
Calumny is one of her top 5 best songs ever. The only reason I would consider voting against it is because she didn't write it.

I love "Calumny." She didn't write "I'd Rather Go Blind" either, and that's making it into the collection.
I think the argument for dropping "Calumny" is the consistency of having one song from each of her solo albums. But I'm not ready to vote to drop it yet. I like it more than both "As Long As You Follow" and "Love Shines," neither of which I find to be her best. (I wish "Temporary One" had made it this far, instead of either of those, but it didn't.) So I am going to "wait and see" what other voters do before I cast my ballot. |
I voted for Calumny simply because I don't find it a standout track from ITM. I actually didn't know she didn't write it. The vocal is superb, I grant you, but the song doesn't ever go beyond "pleasant" to my ears. I'm genuinely surprised by the love, which I'm enjoying. Keeps things interesting. :)
I wouldn't really mind if it stayed. Really, I suppose it's about as good a choice as any of these. But I think we'd be really under representing a prolific and quality era for Christine if we only had Love Shines from the post-rumours Mac lineup. I wish Temporary One had made it, too. |

I voted to get rid of Spare Me A Little. I just don't like the sound the band was going for on Bare Trees, and this song is unfortunately included in my dislike. |

Spare Me is the weakest thing here(even though I do like it). |

I went with every song that was mentioned in the other thread. I did add "Friend" since a few Ledgies were bringing up the "one song per solo album" concept.
I'm leaning towards the In the Meantime songs myself. I just can't bare to only have two songs represent the Pre-Rumours era or only one song for the Post-Rumours era. |
Sorry, Homer. I voted to remove alayf.
|
I'm becoming convinced by the argument that her post-Rumours output should be represented by more than one song, and also by the idea that one song per solo album seems appropriate, so I'm voting to get rid of "Calumny."

You cannot delete "Spare Me A Little" OR "Come A Little Bit Closer". These are both iconic and definitive pre-Buckingham/Nicks Fleetwood Mac songs. They are some of the best of the Bob Welch era. The album is not 'definitive" without them. "As Long As You Follow" just makes the cut. Plus, I love the harmony vocals on that.
On the other hand, "Love Shines", "Friend" and "Calumny" are somewhat lackluster. "Love Shines", from the Vito/Burnett era, just sounds cliché to me. So, I'm voting to drop it. |

"Love Shines" is indeed kinda generic IMO but I voted for "As Long As You Follow" anyway because it's kinda a snoozer to me.
I like "Spare Me a Little" and "Come a Little Bit Closer" and "Friend" the most on this list. |
FYI, the one song with the most votes will be gone. Poll closes tonight. Still need help with sequencing and liner notes.
|
I voted for Calumny. I don't feel In the Meantime warrants two songs in this collection. Poll closes in 1 hour.
Don't forget about liner notes and sequencing. |
I vote to keep them all! And I think for a song to be voted off it needs 50% of the
vote!! :] |
Funny, jwd....!
With 12 votes and almost 50%, Calumny is voted off the definitive Christine collection. |

Northern Star is better than Friend and Calumny.:shrug:
