will LB do request tour?
... and if he does (he better!), how many songs by request would you like him to do:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 i don't want to guess - he will never do it, he's too much of a chicken no reason to guess, he will never tour solo again (background: last year after getting repeated requests at his solo shows, and fulfilling only minority of them, LB promised that his next solo tour he will have a request portion of the show - that he will offer a number of songs to the audience that he can do by request, and audience each night can choose which songs out of those they want to hear.) |
I have been to one show like this by an artist. It was interesting but I would not ever want to see that again. It is so frustrating to be in the back of the venue and know you can't participate because they'll never hear you and then have to sit there through all the interaction with the front rows. It's boring.
My response is: No reason to guess, he won't do it. I don't think he's chicken but I do think he is a reformed perfectionist who would not do this type of show based on the unpredictability factor. |
My ideal requests are:
Countdown This Is The Time Slow Dancing Love Runs Deeper Bwana Time Bomb Town |
i'll go with 8 although he'll never do that many.
he's probably planning on offering us 4-5 songs and giving us a choice of 2 :p. and choices are going to be something like Trouble, NGBA and GI :distress:. because i have no doubt he is a chicken. what he should do is have at least one third of a show by request. he can do maybe 10-12 same songs every night and then 6 more by request... have a choice of 12 or so that he has ready and people can choose half of them every night. and then add one or two songs not on his list, but what someone at the show came up with. i mean come on, he did both RAB and Rodeo by request during his last tour, and they were pretty great! plus WATL was requested just the night before and he still did a verse of it and said he'd do more if he could remember more. so he can do it if he just wants to. |

mine of the top of my head right now: Walk a Thin Line (everybody's shocked, i know  ) To Try For The Sun Rodeo Gone Too Far Red Rover Deep Dense (:p:p) |
I could see him learning 30 songs and then being able to do 8 or more that change any given night, upon request. Request meaning that people will call things out to him and he will "hear" what he wants.

that would be even better than what he described in Knoxville. more unexpected! |
I feel like requests fall on deaf ears with him! I saw him sing RAB one time and it wasn't by request, he just played it. (Which was amazing! Best show ever.)
If by some miracle he listened, I would die to hear Countdown, Try For The Sun (nice one, Elle!) Bel Air Rain, Street of Dreams, Love Runs Deeper, Crystal, WMYTYTO, and my SO wants Book of Love. He can do all that, right? :D And I think I'd like to hear Doing What I Can instead of BL. (Just this one time?) |

But more often if people were screaming Time Bomb Town, he'd be like, "I think I heard Time Precious Time." Michele |

Doing What I Can would be nice too!! he'll always do Big Love, so no need to worry about that. but BL would be in his 10-12 that are always the same, so no need to worry about that. and if history can teach us anything, you and i both know we will both go to more than one show so with 8 or 6 or even 4 requests we would get to hear a lot of different songs across several days. |

Oh, I guess I spaced off then! |

Another issue he is going to have is the tuning of his guitars. Stan tunes them differently for each song on every tour. How is he going to have each tune ready?

I REALLY don't know where my mind was then! The only time I remember anyone yelling a song was some guy screaming "HOLIDAY ROAD!" |

This could represent a problem, because some of his songs are bit quirky in terms of tuning. |

Ohh this thread is interesting. Requests would rock, but I feel like he wouldn't do it unless he had some control like offering us choices. I think someone said that earlier.
What I think would be awesome (and I'm probably in the minority with this) is if he did some covers, maybe just one or two. But I bet he's done some awesome stuff during sound checks or just jamming.. Maybe some zeppelin, pearl jam, skynyrd, pink floyd, he could make anything work! |

but, don't forget that he can do several songs on one guitar / tuning - he used red "Trouble" guitar last year for Trouble, Rock Away Blind, Rodeo, and Walk a Thin Line. Quote:
he said "choices. that's right! my choices" and laughed. audience found that very funny (instead of agreeing with me that it should be my choices :p ). then he said "these guys, they go to all these shows and are always making trouble... always trying to get me to do stuff. i said next time i would do a request portion of the show. in fact what i could have back here is like a blackboard and an easel, and like in front of the restaurant the menu of requests... possible requests and... i don't know? next time, ok?" something like that. |
Also, I really hope he brings back his band for his next solo tour. As much as I adored "Stephanie" on the last run, I was really missing the rock and roll!

conversely, he never listens to me (where's that crying emoticon lol). or more accurately, he listens to what i have to say, and then does exactly the opposite. |

Maybe you're asking too much. Start small. Name two tracks you'd love to hear most. Then promote. However, I will shamelessly beg for a BN tour or one off live concert filmed for DVD with an opportunity for special seats. :D |

Here's your choices from the first page: Walk a Thin Line To Try For The Sun Rodeo Gone Too Far Red Rover Deep Dense Personally, out of these I would love to hear WATL, TTFTS, DOR. |
I'd voted for 8. He Will never do that, the controlfreak (which is something else than a chicken). I'd ask him if he'd do:
The Ledge Save Me A Place What Makes You Think You're The One That's All For Everyone That's Enough For Me Not That Funny Walk A Thin Line I Know I 'm Not Wrong HA. |

oh you are talking about this thread! no what i meant is there's one song i've been drilling into his head almost every single time i've seen him. including in Columbus and Jones Beach during FM shows. and to Mick too. Mick's favorite song apparently. but you are right - i want all these songs and more. i want all-request or partial-request tour, like what he described to us during his Knoxville show. well, what i really want is him doing a show in my back yard where i get to pick every single song but you know... |
Quote:
he's both, probably. :D :p |
Quote:
And i would pay to know his thoughts when he sees you from the stage. I bet he loves you but he's prob like "oh god what do they got for me tonight?" |

If A&E would just revive Live By Request,
he would only have to do one request show. I imagine those request shows (A&E or a tour) could be faked. I'm quite sure A&E's was setup in advance, or at the very least picked over. Drop your names in a box at the beginning of a show. Lindsey comes on stage, greets the audience and pulls out a request. He says "someone requested Big Love" so... |

This isn't to say that I don't want a request show. That'd be awesome and so off the cuff for him! |
