[:distress:Stevie is getting slow in her old age. She spent three months learning Lady Antebellum's catalog, but she listened to everything FM ever did frontwards and backwards in a couple of days, back in the day. ]

In January, Stevie Nicks shared a stage with country superstars Lady Antebellum to record an episode of CMT’s ‘Crossroads.’ After seven months, there’s finally an airdate.

The episode will show at 10PM on Sept. 13. Nicks and Lady A (Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood and Hillary Scott) trade verses on hits from both artists as well as some covers. They performed Billy Joel‘s ‘New York State of Mind,’ but there’s no confirmation on which songs made the final cut.

Highlights from the set reportedly include Fleetwood Mac‘s ‘Rhiannon’ and ‘Landslide’ and Lady Antebellum’s ‘Need You Now’ and ‘Downtown.’ Nicks said she spent three months learning the trio’s catalog and was particularly fond of ‘Golden,’ a ballad from the group’s most recent album, also called ‘Golden.’ She called the song “their ‘Landslide.’” The concert was recorded at the Sony Pictures Studio in Los Angeles on Jan. 29 in front of approximately 1,000 fans.

‘Crossroads’ pairs up country stars with their pop and rock influences and contemporaries. Previous episodes have combined the works of Journey with Rascal Flatts, the Doobie Brothers with Luke Bryan and Def Leppard with Taylor Swift.

I'm excited for this. I'm actually rather indifferent to LA. They seem ok but not people who's records I'd buy. But it's just something really different for Stevie and perhaps allow her voice to stretch in ways it hasn't for many years. I hope the results are great. I'll be watching... via internet piracy, as this is unlikely to ever air in the UK. ;)

Lady A on CMT Show Last Night

I've never really warmed to Lady A, but I caught them live last night on CM show last night and they were actually pretty good live. Not sure, the recorded show will sound as good but we will see.

Stevie will make it sound good... ;-)

Yes I try to get it done.I know CMT post their shows online but I dont know if the shows are available worldwide for everyone to see.

I will order the expanded cable probably Wednesday to get CMT like I did with OWN channel earlier this year.

I got a feeling the show will be a high rated show for CMT.They always do great on promoting their shows.

I can confirm that they are not. Even that Rhiannon clip is "unavailable in this region" when I try to play it. I'm really jealous! It sounds magic. :) Oh well.

Only because it is new
.Stevie doesn't do most of the singing. You can clearly see how thrilled the Lady A members are to be on the same stage as Stevie. You want to see a truly magical performance of Rhiannon, then watch the Mirage Tour video from 1982. Now THAT was magic!

Dex 09-08-2013 10:58 AM

Well, yes, viv. The new-ness of it is the basis of it's appeal for me, too, I must confess. :) We have no shortage of wonderful Rhiannon performances, but a collaboration like this offers up a fresh take on the piece, and I'm very curious about it.

ETA: Should I keep calling you viv? I know you have a real name, and yet viv seems to keep rolling off my cybertongue. It's just catchy, I guess! Let me know either way.

I can't comment on the sound, but I will say I didn't really like the way the verses were allocated. But maybe when Stevie does LA songs, she will take the lion's share on them and that will even things out. Also, I was not thrilled with how the song ended.

kak125 09-09-2013 11:13 AM

loved them doing this song together but the ending was awful! i wish they would have done something else with it.

Stevie Nicks at a "Crossroads": Playlist for a Harmonic Convergence With Lady A

There are artists who go in and out of style. Then there are artists who define their own style. Stevie Nicks is one of those unique and singular sensations who come from the heart and somehow reside there forever. Stevie was the second woman who I ever loved from a distance -- right after Elizabeth Montgomery on Bewitched. Clearly, I have a thing for sexy witchy women. Having had the great pleasure of getting to know Stevie and work with her on various projects over the years, including writing the liner notes to the recent 35th anniversary Expanded Edition of Fleetwood Mac's timeless "Rumours," I love her even more now.

This Friday night CMT is airing one of their best "Crossroads" shows ever -- one that brings Stevie together with Lady Antebellum for what is a true harmonic convergence. I'm happy to note that Stevie is on a quite a roll these days. Her most recent solo album "In Your Dreams" produced by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard was arguably her best since her first, "Bella Donna." Of course, Stevie's current tour with Fleetwood Mac finds her and my longtime musical hero Lindsey Buckingham working together at the height of their powers. Standing at a crossroads when other artists their age are beginning to toss in the towel artistically, Stevie -- and Lindsey -- remain wonderfully engaged and extraordinary singer-songwriters here and now. So in anticipation of Friday's "Crossroads" on CMT featuring Stevie and Lady A, here are my current Favorite Stevie Recordings with and without Fleetwood Mac. As always, please feel free to argue with me and add your own Stevie Nicks favorites below. And thanks so much Stevie for draggin' our musical hearts around so well for so long.

"LONG DISTANCE RUNNER" - Buckingham Nicks
"CRYING IN THE NIGHT" - Buckingham Nicks
"LANDSLIDE" - Fleetwood Mac
"RHIANNON" - Fleetwood Mac
"GOLD DUST WOMAN" - Stevie Nicks
"SILVER SPRINGS" - Fleetwood Mac
"SARA" - Fleetwood Mac
"STORMS" - Fleetwood Mac
"INSIDER" - Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
"STAND BACK" - Stevie Nicks
"HAS ANYONE EVER WRITTEN ANTHING FOR YOU" - Stevie Nicks
"GYPSY" - Fleetwood Mac
"SEVEN WONDERS" - Fleetwood Mac
"BLUE DENIM" - Stevie Nicks
"PLANETS OF THE UNIVERSE" - Stevie Nicks
"THROWN DOWN" - Fleetwood Mac
"SAY YOU WILL" - Fleetwood Mac
"ITALIAN SUMMER" - Stevie Nicks
"ANNABEL LEE" - Stevie Nicks
"SOLDIER'S ANGEL" - Stevie Nicks featuring Lindsay Buckingham
"FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH" - Stevie Nicks

They already have

CMT Crossroads Journey and Rascal Flatts Live from Superbowl

CMT Crossroads Willie Nelson and Friends

Which are in HiDef

Thats how I got to see Stevie on the Aussie ARIA Awards after I put a request for it.

I'm surprised however they didn't want to do After The Glitter Fades, my favorite country style number. I guess they just must not have a steel guitarist...

No steel ,fiddles and banjos in todays country tunes. Its mostly rock guitar which I'm not a fan of.

Stevie or FM would have no problem releasing any country tunes from their albums today but their age might matter with the age discrimination for radio airplay.

I agree 100 percent on After The Glitter Fades .Wonder why they skipped it.

I do remember when I heard it on my local country radio station at the time.

I'm glad the show is getting out in the press,I wish this was done in 2011 when IYD was release and FWIW and Cheaper and Free Videos would shine on CMT and GAC channels.
