Side 1 or Side 2? Mirage
 

Let's see what is your favorite side of the Mirage álbum:

Side one
1. "Love in Store"

Side two
1. "Empire State"
2. "Straight Back"
3. "Hold Me"

I thought this would be difficult.

I can't believe it, but side 2 is more appealing to me. Even with Gypsy and That's Alright, the rest of side 1 doesn't hold up.

And I really like the trifecta of Empire State, Straight Back and Hold Me.

This is a pretty well-balanced album, but I just can't stand Empire State. :shrug: Plus, Gypsy is probably my favorite song of all time by anyone.

Side 1 easily. "Love in Store", "Can't Go Back", "Book of Love" and "Gypsy" all great songs. On side 2 only "Hold Me" and "Eyes of the World" are great. IMO.

Yep, Side One. If you're one of the few (like me) who doesn't understand all the fuss over Hold Me, this is an easy choice.

Nice balance of songs on both sides. I am extremely fussed over Hold Me, but I might favor Side 1 over Side 2.

Tough decison...

Side 2 has more of my favorites (Hold Me, Straight Back, Oh Diane, Wish You Were Here), but Side 1 has Gypsy, my favorite Mac song ever.

I guess I'll go with Side 1 as I too like Only Over You and Love in Store. :cool:

I wanted so much to vote for Side 2, solely because of Hold Me, as there truly are some albums I could give up a whole side of in favor of that one track, which was the song that first made me a Mac fan and that I still consider a perfect pop song. BUT... it's the only song on Side 2 I love, and Side 1 has Love in Store, Can't Go Back, That's Alright, and Gypsy, so that's what I voted for.

I love the entire album, so I can't decide!! Maybe side 1, but every song is good!

Was "Gypsy" every lacking in love?

If there was any doubt, Side 1 has Gypsy.

Mirage has always been one of my favourites, sure it's overall vibe is mellow and safe, but with songs like Gypsy and Hold Me, you just can't go wrong. I'm going with side one with overall flow and song quality, it's great. I tend to go for the sides that have more than one Stevie song as I've never felt 3 songs per album on each of these albums was ever enough. All songs on the album are well arranged and performed, with Only Over and Empire being the soft spots in an otherwise solid effort.

A very tough battle. But I would choose for side 1. Hold me it is still one of my favourite songs, but the whole the first side, for me, beats the second.

Side 1.

Not because it has "Gypsy", but because it doesn't have "Empire State"...

Side 2, because it has 4 songs I really like: Straight Back, Eyes of The World, Hold Me, & Wish You Were Here. Side 1 only has 2 songs I really like: Gypsy & Only Over You.

For me Stevie's songs are the best on the album, and side 1 has two of them, side 2 has only one. My favorite amongst Lindsey's songs change from time to time so in the long run it may even out. Christine's songs don't do it for me on this one, so side 1 it is.
