Prior to the show, Mick Fleetwood told fans at tonight’s VIP meet and greet that Christine McVie would be performing onstage with Fleetwood Mac during the London concerts in September. The band is still working out her level of involvement. But, according to Mick, she has confirmed to perform with Fleetwood Mac.

If this is indeed true, I wonder if she'll perform at all the London dates. I have tickets for the 1st night in LDN and would be sad to miss her.

There is a guy called Brad, @EFQZ who tweeted a lot about the Mick M&G. He has said he will blog the full info in next day or so. Tweet highlights mention Christine rehearsed with them and will perform in London (full story to follow in blog)....although his tweets seemed to imply showS and I saw another person tweet show, with Mick not saying which show.

Hopefully a Ledgie attended and will have more info...sounds like an interesting m&g.

Other m&g items referenced from same tweeter: only love affair in the band today is Mick and John, Mick misses playing the blues, his fave songs to perform on this tour are Dreams and GYOW, Mick and John working on Aus dates as it is favourite place to play, Mick rarely goes back to Britain as his mum lives with him, and his favourite road snack is reese pb cups.

If it's true, then how possible could be that, if they decide to release of a dvd, they choose from a date where Christine joins them?? Could it be contractually possible? Would she agree?

I have a feeling she will join them onstage for the encores or something. Something similar to when Lindsey Buckingham appeared at the last couple Behind The Mask shows in California. She'll probably perform on World Turning, Don't Stop and may close with Songbird instead of Say Goodbye. That's my prediction on this.

I think she'd agree. I assume of she does it, from what she said recently, it'd only be for Dont Stop and World Turning. Presumably they could arrange for the profits to be split accordingly, *if* it happened.

he said she rehearsed with them at the start of rehearsals in LA and will almost definitely come to the stage for some songs in London. when we asked whether all 3 shows he said, no probably only 1. then people asked which one, and he ignored that question.

from what's been tweeted about his responses yesterday, maybe they got a lot of sh*t about just 1 of 3 shows so they are rethinking that, idk.

Also, knowing Christine she may leave it to the last minute as to whether she does this. However, we should all be hugely encouraged that she rehearsed with them and that she performed in Maui. She seems to have gotten over her bad stage fright. :D

yes, seems likely. Mick gave pretty detailed description during DC m&g how the Maui thing happened. seemed to have been pretty haphazard, with Steven Tyler asking Christine (since Mick promised her he wouldn't badger her) whether she'd join them on stage for their previously scheduled charity event next evening. she said categorically no in the evening, and then called Mick next morning and said she's seriously thinking she might want to do it.

It would be cool if they could rehearse one of her songs instead of just fitting her into the set list they're already doing. I think it's a waste of her presence to not add anything to the set. Not that it wouldn't be cool, but they could add a song I think without too much trouble.

yeah. Songbird would be spectacular. or anything else i guess. whoever is at the right London show better takes lots of video!!!!!

I wondered about this. I did think it was a last minute job, but we didn't hear about the background till now.

I am still not entirely convinced she will do it, but Maui, the rehearsals in LA and the brief newspaper comments she gave this year all suggest she's more confident than she was ten years ago, for whatever reason.

If ever there was going to be a DVD of this tour, it's gotta be this date. C'mon, FM, get your crap together; two new songs AND Christine returning for a few songs!? This DVD would sell like hot cakes!!

That's what I would have expected too, but she participated to such an extent with Mick in Hawaii, performing songs she had not performed in years that I now expect more from her reunion with the current Macsters. She's even more familiar with their songs than with Get Like You Used to Be.

It's heartening to hear she rehearsed with them. Even if she didn't appear on stage, it makes me feel good to think that she did. Of course, I'd love pictures.

They could tack Songbird on with little effort at all. Christine could do it with John and Lindsey, if they wanted to. Or she could do it alone with the whole band crying in the wings, instead of just John:laugh:. It would be lovely to close the show like that one last time and it's something she could rehearse alone, so she could be up to speed to do it by the time they got to London.

Who knows? I suspect from the recent interview where she referred to 'duets' she means Don't Stop and WT. No harm in her chipping in on, say, The Chain and Rhiannon though. Ooh, and GYOW! :D

The right London show. That's a serious problem. Also, you don't have to strain yourself getting pictures of her when she's on stage alone. Those would be nice, but my top priority is pictures of when she's with the others. I don't need to go to my grave seeing her hugging Steven Tyler. Not that there's anything wrong with that -- it's just . . .

sorry, thought i may have told you all... it's been a whirlwind few weeks, trying to catch up back on normal life. was trying to convey the most important stuff, like the fact that Mick seems to be pretty certain she'll perform at one of the London shows.

guess i'm kinda unsure that i completely believe Mick's story about how the Maui gig happened, you know? he also told an elaborate story about how Christine's afraid of flying, how he held her hand all the way from London to HI, etc etc. he talked some about Steven Tyler too. there were several ledgies at DC m&g when he was telling us this, so they may remember more, if they are reading this thread.

he was also asked about Fleetwoods that used to be in DC. seems no hope of reviving that one.

DC q&a peeps had some really good questions, not your usual run-of-the-mill stuff we all read 1000s of times, like it was in Philly.

i think Viv will also be at the last London show. she's usually not the one for taking pics and vids, but maybe we can coax her into it, i'll certainly try. :D :cool:

I wonder how she got home and if she had a friend or relative making the return trip with her.

I'm staying with my brother who lives just outside London. The minute I get back I will report. :nod: I still can't let myself believe Christine will be there on my night though, so I'm not getting my hopes too high.

I can really understand that. I'm not the greatest at taking pictures, but I do. I don't take video though. That would be such a nightmare.

Mick was asked about the possibility about reuniting the whole FM, with all past and present members, and also someone specifically asked him about Peter Green joining them on the stage at some point.

he said he loves Peter, and he considers him the greatest guitarist ever. however, he said, and referenced Germany story that he assumed everyone at that m&g knew well, you can never know these days with PG. he can tell you yes one day, and go back on it the next day, and it's completely random. so you cannot really announce reuniting all living Mac members or something like that, however much Mick may would be for it.

Mick was also asked about which period of his life he considers the best, and he said early 70s (i think?), definitely the blues period. he said blues is his kind of music, and he loves playing that the best, and he was happiest at that time. (now keep in mind this q&a was hours after he filed for legal separation, so he may have not been in the best place emotionally at the time - certainly saying that he was happiest at that very moment would not be something one could expect.)

I guess that's wise on his part and he may have learned from the past. There might not be any connection, but the last time Mick started talking about a reunion with Peter, Peter began having problems again and had to cancel some of his scheduled tour dates.

Thanks for the added info. I know the way the M & G's were handled with people calling out questions, it's impossible to remember every thing that was said. Michele

Re: Michelle, Plus it's impossible for Mick to actually remember what he's saying. I'm sure he treats it similar to a press interview, going through the motions while being polite and cordial. It's very hard to actually influence the band this way, that is, unless you have a direct connection to their management or to them, when you can have their undivided attention. In fact, a lot of the times even if you give the band members something in a meet and greet it goes to the PR person and they'll never see it.

Regarding Christine being at Fleetwood Mac's rehearsals and someone saying she should play accordion, I was reminded of the Tusk rehearsal sessions. Maybe she'll play guitar(!!!) too while she's at it? LOL

I just talked to my good friend Dan Perfect of In the Meantime fame and he said Chris is willing to play You Make Loving Fun, Say You Love Me, Everywhere, and Songbird, in addition to their encore staples, but Lindsey said something about really enjoying playing more of his songs at Fleetwood Mac concerts. So guess you London concertgoers are going to miss out.

OK, all kidding aside, I think it is most likely Christine will only play for the encores. Maybe she'll get in a playful comment toward Stevie about how she will actually sing the right lyrics now for Don't Stop and World Turning?? I would be shocked if she played the entire concert on keyboards, and even more shocked if they changed the setlist (GASP!!!) to fit in a few of her songs. If that happens, You Make Loving Fun would be amazing. And I would absolutely die if they brought out Little Lies, a huge Mac hit that has never been performed live with Lindsey and was passed over for The Dance. That would be something...but I realize, as everyone should, it will be small steps forward with Christine. Do not expect too much at once. Be grateful if and when this happens. I do hope when she is onstage the band really welcomes her properly in front of an audience that realizes what a big deal this is, and we see a little more interaction from the band than normal, perhaps even some hugging and some playing next to her??

It's just so damn easy to blame Lindsey, though I'm not doing it seriously. He basically puts all of that on himself, especially when he made the comment I was citing about how he was glad he could play more of his songs. And, of course, there's more to why Christine left the band than what Stevie, Lindsey, and Mick always tell us, but it's rather funny of all the reasons cited that Lindsey's Grammys fury seems to be the only thing directly involving a band member that turned her off.

I'm confident they would all hug at the end and I'm sure Lindsey would go over and play next to her on the piano at some point. If it was World Turning, he should share the mic with her as in days past. I mean if he and Stevie sang the first part together and then after Mick's drum solo if Christine came and they shared a mic again, it would make such an impact, I think.

What was really nice was during the BTM concert when he came, he and Stevie did not go over to the piano during Landslide, but Stevie did make a point of trying to include Christine in their reunion by acknowledging her. It was very moving. Through her gestures she reminded the audience that they were briefly a trio again.
