When did Stevie's "big hair" phase end?
She had big hair throughout the mid and late 80s and into 1990-91 during BTM and Timespace, but in the Clinton Inauguration in 1993, her hair is straight and flat. What was she up to in 1992? I don't think I've seen pics of her from that year.
|
I can't recall her mentioning specific dates in any interviews off the top of my head, but we know she was still under the influence in '91, but cleaned up in time for Street Angel in '94.
So I'm guessing much of '92-'93 was spent in rehab for the klonopin addiction...? |
As far as I am aware, Stevie's performance of "Stand Back" and "Love's A Hard Game To Play" on the Arsenio Hall show on 12 November 1991 was her first public appearance with the long, straight hair. I suspect her final Timespace tour dates on 25/10 in Dallas and 31/10 & 14/11 at the Whiskey in LA would have been sporting the same look.

Well, the big hair did make periodic appearances right up through 2003...
I kinda miss it. :distress: |
I would say it ended in 1991, in that one b&w Rolling Stone photo from '92 she has the straight hair with bangs like with the Clinton inauguration. But you could argue that her Street Angel-tour hair was actually the end of her big hair phase.

I think the big kinky hair from 2004 was totally hot!
|
PS It looks big here too! I personally like the curls and waves and kinkiness she has sometimes. The constant sleek straight hair is boring to me, and ages her a bit.

Wow.I love that hair. She always have and had puffy big hair even today with straight hair.If she had spare time .She could do shampoo commercials like Farah did.
She's a big fan of Dolly Parton which is the queen of big hair in country music along with Loretta and Tammy. The reason why I mentioned the undercut because I thought I've seen photos of Stevie with her sides cut back alittle bit like a undercut or mullet style. |

But John's... looks like a bad photo shop of the bangs......or maybe he poured paint on his head.... (don't recall it looking like that before in this pic.. .maybe it's the copy??) |
On the Little Lies single, Christine's hair DOES look fabulous.
Stevie's though.. omg. On anyone that hairstyle sucked. Oh, the 80's. It was interesting, though. Imagine what people will be saying about our hair now in 30 years.. |
