Where are the new songs?

The tour starts April 4th. One would think the songs would be out in advance so that the fans know the songs before the show. But that is just me. Anyone know when released?

whitewingdove 03-30-2013 10:27 AM

All i know is that Without You got recorded. They'll probably wait a while into the tour to see if people like the music they perform then release it. I'm one of those people who are hiping for an album XD

You think that would be a simple, sensible marketing strategy. It's a normal practice in today's music industry Yet, the tactics of Fleetwood Mac and/or their "management" involve missing every opportunity to target and serve their audience. This is nothing new; there are decades of dysfunction and countless missed opportunities.

If they bothered to research The Ledge, they would discover many valid ideas and ways to serve their core customers. Their marketing team are idiots.

I agree wholeheartedly. The songs will probably be released after the tour is over and everyone has moved on to something else.

For example, This Tuesday night, I have tickets to attend a PREMIERE screening of the "new" Stevie Nicks Documentary "In Your Dreams". Excuse me, but the album that this documentary revolves around was released nearly 2 years ago. Why are we JUST NOW getting the documentary. Had the documentary been released right after the album, it would have been a FANTASTIC PROMOTIONAL TOOL.....Oh no, but that would have made too much sense for this marketing team. Let's release the documentary 2 years later after the life span of the album has run its course and Stevie is preparing the embark on a tour with Fleetwood Mac where few if none of those songs will be played. Hello? Who is in charge here ?

WildHearted 03-30-2013 12:19 PM

I genuinely forgot there even were new songs. Wow.

:laugh::laugh: Right! FM with New songs AND a New setlist? What's the world coming to?

MacShadowsBall 03-30-2013 01:30 PM

The world of Fleetwood Mac spins very slowly.

StandbackStevie 03-30-2013 02:17 PM

the only new song that is recent is Stevie Nicks song from the soundtrack to the Sound City Reel to Real movie soundtrack. You Can't Fix This, my guess that will be in the set.

I hope you are wrong....personally, I don't want to hear any solo songs unless it is SB, Twisted, Go Insane, and Holiday Road.

All 4 would make my night :]

J.Miller 03-30-2013 03:00 PM

Well, here they are!!!!!!( If you have a sense of humor).

LMAO I love it, My fave is Do Ri Me, but why is Me flipping Me the bird?

I'm sure the 3rd one is Stevie's contribution..."I sing my notes....in my dreams..it wasn't easy in the beginning...lalalalalala"

Lolly lolly has to be LB's new "hidden" gem, a Masterpiece to rival GYOW!

krrrby 03-30-2013 03:11 PM

Stevie performed You Can't Fix This before the album was even released. My guess is she liked the whole process of doing the new song live first, that she made the Mac wait until they play their new songs live before putting them out.

I betcha.

My guess is that they probably decided that it's better to ~test the songs out live~ to see the reaction before going through the "trouble" of releasing them.

So basically if no one flips out opening night when they play them, then we're never gonna get them.

Well, that would be really dumb of them. I can't flip out over a song I'm hearing for the very first time.

Michele

MacShadowsBall 03-30-2013 07:25 PM

I agree with the past comments as I can see them waiting until at least the first full week of shows before they "unleash" these new songs to us. Much like michele, I have to listen to a song a few times before I either love, like, or hate it.

Exactly. But for some reason I'm getting that vibe.

Or, maybe they are secretly working on an album and are holding the songs back because of that. I hope it's that option haha.

secondhandchain 03-30-2013 08:42 PM

Stevie has said this is 'not' a greatest hits tour and that they are going out with "product"....that means they should release the material before the tour starts. REALLY stupid not to have release the songs a few weeks before so that the fans know the new songs. Dumb.

or this Tuesday at the latest! with IYD doc. in 50 theaters.. ADVERTISE the songs at the beginning of the screenings. get the die-hards on board ! Maybe word will spread.

moon 03-31-2013 12:30 AM

No, really...where are the new songs!!!
Should not be easy to release new singles today, you know, if they're not on a new CD.
The "marketing guys" or the responsible people are moving too slow, and too bad...the last tweet is from March 13rd, and the website, well, looks a bit raw, with nothing about the new songs.

IIRC didn't she say that it was Lindsey who was insistent that they have *some* kind of new product to go out with this time? And since he was the push behind recording the new material, I hope he's pushing to actually get the sh*t out.... and if he *is* pushing, who's the blockade??

vivfox 03-31-2013 08:28 AM

Where are the new songs? This question is on the mind of every Fleetwood Mac devotee. As we do with all their releases we will debate later how they could have done better for themselves had they marketed the songs correctly. Something they never do. They'll probably release the weakest of the three first. As Sue would say: so many missed oppurtunities.

Seriously I could put up a song on iTunes and it wouldn't take me any time at all. It's really not that difficult. I can't understand what is the hold up on this.

jcalzaretta 03-31-2013 09:18 AM

They did this with The Dance. Nobody heard the 4 songs before the show. You can see at the shows that as good as they are (BTLH), the applause was hardly noteworthy.

Fortunately, I am seeing them 5 times so I will be fine!

KenshiMaster16 03-31-2013 04:31 PM

Actually, she is (or at least, someone from her team is). But the account hasn't been active in a pretty good while.

KenshiMaster16 03-31-2013 07:49 PM

Except for today when it posted Happy Easter. Either way, I'm just going to annoy the hell out of them and post something every day that way it's at least filling up their inbox whether they see it or not. They wanna annoy me by pumping me for music that may or may not never see the light of day like many Mac projects, then I'll try to annoy them back. lol

Stevie Nicks In Your Dreams premieres tonight at the West Hollywood Landmark Theatre, where Stevie will be making a special appearance and taking questions from the audience after the first two shows. She will introduce the third screening but will not be present to answer questions afterwards. All three shows are now sold out.

In Your Dreams officially opens in North American theaters on Tuesday, April 2. Some theaters have added additional screenings on different days. See the list of theaters that will be screening the documentary film in your area.

On April 15, Stevie will be promoting the documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where she will be doing her next question and answer session. These screenings have also sold out. Screenings will continue throughout Canada in April, May, and June.

On Thursday, April 4, Stevie will join the rest of Fleetwood Mac in Columbus, Ohio, where they will launch their 2013 world tour. The band has confirmed a robust set list of favorites — including “Landslide,” “Go Your Own Way,” and the highly-anticipated return of “Sisters of the Moon,” which the band hasn’t performed in concert since 1982. They also plan to introduce new material that the band has been working on over the past year. These songs include “Miss Fantasy,” “Sad Angel,” and the Buckingham-Nicks era “Without You.”

That may be true, but Stevie has said in an interview that it wasn't a greatest hits tour and that they had "product".

TrueFaith77 04-01-2013 09:12 AM

Maybe delay is due to integration of Christine into the tracks ... or more tracks.

I know, and that was my point.... if they all have agreed about 'new product' why the hell isn't it out yet? Who's the roadblock? The band? Management? Kids sit at home and record and upload new songs in five minutes. We know Lindsey knows how to use social media and get music out on YouTube and iTunes and the like, so who's holding this up? And why? Do they think the tantalizing prospect of hearing new songs for the first time live will somehow sell more concert tickets?? It may for diehard fans, but not more casual fans. A great new song or two online would be a driver for more tickets... so what the heck are they thinking?

My guess is Stevie's management camp has got reigns on the releasing of these songs. Stevie has made it clear she will only be involved in recording a new Mac album if these new songs are received well by audiences. My guess is she wants nothing officially released until the decision has been made to record another album or not. Which honestly, makes sense. If they release an online-only EP, and then those same songs get rolled into a full album, you're blunting the full album's sales & impact, without a doubt.

Yes but that contradicts what they've said so far, which is they have a couple songs and they will be putting them out and *then* if people respond well to those couple of songs, they will consider doing an album with so many more songs. Her comments to date have been that the one or two new songs will test the waters on whether people want more new music from them or not before they spend all the money to make a full album.

Fleetwood Mac IS contradiction! :p

My guess is they've decided against releasing the material until they see how audiences react to it. Then they'll decide whether or not to record a full album, or simply dump the 3 songs onto iTunes & go back to their solo careers. I never once thought they'd be so bold as to release a few new songs electronically before a tour. That's just too efficient & not painful enough for us fans.

BlanketMan 04-01-2013 02:32 PM

The missus and I have great seats for the DC show next week, and she said to me over the weekend, "They aren't releasing anything new, are they? I want to hear the Good Stuff!" And I think that's the attitude of a lot of ticket-buying fans. Some of us die-hards might want to hear "Without You" on this tour, but I'm betting that the vast majority in the audience would much rather hear, say, "Blue Letter" or some other marginally well-known oldie over any new stuff. Especially if said new stuff hasn't been released anywhere yet - I'm in total agreement with the poster (MicheleJ) who wrote that we can't flip over a song the first time we hear it.

So, since no new FM album is out there, and the tour starts in 3 days... I'm hoping for a minimum amount of new material on the set list...

HejiraNYC 04-01-2013 02:45 PM

I think Mick has some 'splainin' to do in Columbus.

Christopher 04-01-2013 03:50 PM

I for one, am not really anticipating any new music at opening night in Columbus. I will be pleasantly shocked if they do. On top of not releasing any new promotional band photos for this tour -- which I'd imagine would've been also released to promote the new single(s) -- they haven't even been bothered to name this tour outing. They're too busy semi-promoting a fan made tour poster contest on Fleetwood Mac's FB page, as if that should include & appease us:rolleyes:. And since this is uncharted territory for the band (sticking a couple new songs for download on the Internet) maybe WB, or whoever is supposably releasing these new songs, is unsure how to market them. I feel as though these songs will go the way of that comprehensive talked -up FM re-release with unreleased footage (probably the Rumours deluxe box shelved) that was mentioned in every press release following the annoucement of FM's 09' "Unleased Tour", that was never released, or brought up again once the tour started. Perhaps they have rehearsed the songs, and they didn't transfer well to the stage as they sounded in Lindsey's home studio?!?

Or the non-cynical view :) WB & FM are soooo overcome & impressed with these three new recordings, they have decided to see how things roll on the 1st leg of the tour, and possibly if demand & interest is there they will record some more songs on the road for a new FM record late summer/early fall.

Let's get real here -- this tour is simply a cash grab! And I've really had the impression for a l o n g time that Stevie is really not interested in recording with FM again (unless Christine is involved) and that is not going to happen! Stevie met up with the band in November at Lindsey's home - literally threw her vocals on Lindsey's 2 tracks & dug out "Without You" to appease Lindsey & have the start of this FM outing with her appearing to be compromising & have Band politics start off smoothly & without any tensions. But maybe she never intended that these would really be released. Well, perhaps "Without You" for a BN re-issue later. It seems lf Stevie were really serious about recording new FM material, she would have brought in at least one new song, which we know from last Fall's East & West Coast Film Festivals "IYD" screenings & Q&A's, she has written, and then comes along "You Can't Fix This".

Also it's entirely possible that Lindsey is stewing that the year of FM is focused so far on Stevie's solo career. She's been solidly in the spotlight the last 2 months with Dave Grohl fronting The Sound City players & playing her new song (YCFT) whenever she seemed to have the chance. The Oprah "Masterclass" special. And now the past 2-3 weeks (since SXSW) there has been a blitz of Stevie solo press about the North American theatrical release of her "In Your Dreams" movie documentary in over 80 Theatres ("the best year of her life".) ;)

Could there be "Trouble in Shangri-la"? Or as I suspect - Stevie is just calling all the shots.

secondhandchain 04-01-2013 04:00 PM

Stevie's whole "people don't want 10 new songs" IS BS. Then why the f@#k did she do her last album? Does she think we are stupid? If she really believes that to be true, she better not record another solo album again. If she does, she loses all credibility with me. Just say the truth, you don't want to record with FM again but would love to record another solo album. When it comes to touring with FM, you don't mind making a ton of money on tour, where you can stroll on to the stage and not have to interact with the rest of the band all day like you would in a studio. I for one am getting sick of her explanations that don't make any sense.
