Sisters of the Moon confirmed

@ south by south west. Attended the documentary screening, was great, a little bummed that only one question was allowed. I was all set to ask her if she would ever release a collection of the piano demos and about remastered, expanded solo albums. Anyway, @ the interview in the convention center now, shes still talking as I type.. She was talking about getting ready for the tour and said "you're the first to hear this, but we're doing SISTERS OF THE MOON"...!!!
Also mentioned they're working on 24 songs in the set right now. Exciting news! Back to the interview. More to come later!

that's great news.

working on 24 is disappointing, that means they'll be down to 22 by the time tour starts. if they stay at 24 that's a bit better but still not 26. :distress:

michelej1 03-14-2013 05:51 PM

SOTM! This is a coup. Fans have wanted this for years and the fact that FM knows this is how it came to be in the setlist. Very excited to hear it.

And be prepared for it to not sound fantastic at first. As the tour goes on, I'm sure it will become phenomenal.

Thanks so much for the report.

Michele

Not necessarily...24 could be their goal number, and they're currently working on 30ish to find the "right" 24 to bring to Columbus.

Agreed. I may have to break my word and go see this tour now.

Storms definitely got better as the Unleashed tour progressed & Stevie figured out how to best perform the song live. But when I saw the Mac during the Say You Will tour, the newly rocking version of Silvers Springs got progressively worse as Stevie's voice wore down from the extensive touring. So it really could go either way. It'll be interesting to see how Sisters has evolved since it's heyday. It'll be a different animal for sure, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing at all. :D

i like your optimistic view much better than my realistic/pessimistic one. :D

maybe they pleasantly surprise us and if they are working on 30 songs with a goal of 24 they can't decide which ones to weed out and so try out 26 in Columbus!? :p

shackin'up 03-14-2013 06:16 PM

Great news. On the other hand....It's about time. I'm not holding my breath, but I really hope they'll kill some of their darlings....for some "about time" gems...

Thanks so much for the update! Let us know how the interview went afterwads.

The Chain 03-14-2013 06:31 PM

Was right behind the last girl in line who got to ask a question. Teenager who saw me headed for the line and sped up and basically cut in front of me. Verry annoying. And such dumb questions. Oy. I was so ready to ask about remasters, and if she had ever put any thought into releasing a piano demo collection. For the next time I'm in a small room w Stevie Nicks, I guess.. Oh wait..

That's awesome. I wonder how the 2013 version will sound. Hopefully, it won't get dropped by the fourth show. It's funny. My first reaction to this news was, "It'd better not be like "Smile at You" was to Say You Will, limp."

Dragonfly 03-14-2013 06:42 PM

Bugger, I mentioned on another thread that this is the one song I'd love to see them do live again and I haven't got a ticket for this tour:distress:

Still I'm glad others will get to see it. This was the highlight of the Mirage tour video for me, hope they film a show for a DVD release.

well, i don't remember about Smile at You since SYW version was so blah i mostly skipped it, but SOTM has some great guitar parts which i'm sure won't disappoint!! :]

BLY 03-14-2013 07:15 PM

Lets all remember we are talking a 65 year old Nicks not a 35 year old. It will be and should be taken based on her current range and energy. I think Lindsey's guitar will be amazing and will exceed our expectations. I Can't Wait.

yup!

(although expectations are high to begin with, if you ever saw Lindsey play guitar, and heard SOTM  )

That is quite true. Lindsey really does drive the studio version.

Phil 03-14-2013 07:35 PM

Thanks to The Chain for attempting to raise the remasters matter. Let's hope you get another chance.

SteveMacD 03-14-2013 07:36 PM

Am I the only one who thinks John's performance on "Smile At You" might be one of the greatest things EVER on a FM album?

I don't think SOTM will be as dependent on Stevie's voice as Silver Springs was. Michele

michelej1 03-14-2013 08:01 PM

I'm laughing already because I know you guys are going to accuse Lindsey of screaming his velvet line or something. You'll be saying he was Taylor Swifting Stevie.

I'm amused in anticipation, because even though Lindsey loves to whisper, he probably won't for some unknown reason. He'll be wrapping her and wondering if anyone knows her name loudly or strangely. I can imagine the stuff I'll be reading about it already.

Michele

It totally makes the short list of amazing performances. So funny I just listened to this on the drive home tonight.

Right with ya there. And I love the song itself, don't get all the hate. Its one of the most perfect songs on SYW imo. Lindsey is hands down the perfect producer for Stevie. He "gets" her. He gets what she's going for, be it mystical, dark, old fashioned rock n roll. Smile At You is one of his most interesting, beautiful arrangements of a Stevie song, ecspecially on SYW.

Not alone Steve....it was brilliant bass work from John and a definite highlight of Say You Will and stands up to any of the consistently stellar work this man has brought to the band. I also thought Stevie did a great job of the vocal, I was glad to hear that she didn't change the key...(here). No pun intended.

redbird 03-14-2013 08:40 PM

A 24 song set including SOTM is something I could definitely live with.

Now everyone send good vibes towards "Angel", for me. Make a gal's dreams come true.

ragrsrocalot 03-14-2013 08:53 PM

WOW. So excited for this. Woohoo!!!!!

McTrouble 03-14-2013 09:18 PM

SOTM - bleugh! Although Lindsey saves it of course! :p

SMAP please :D

Nolastorms 03-14-2013 09:32 PM

High Hopes

Am I the only one here with high hopes for this tour?! Not high expectations but a great feeling. After the incredible past "3 years " the members have been having...I think they are in an awesome place to deliver a steller tour. And seeng Stevie's recents sets with sound city players I know she has the goods left to crush Sisters of the Moon...not mirage era but I was 2 then! I can't wait to see the staples too as this will only be my second Mac show (say you will tour)! And with 13th row seats this promises to be a great moment for me!!

redbird 03-14-2013 09:38 PM

I'm excited, for me it'll be my first chance to see them so even a tried and true set list would be nice as long as their hearts were in it. What I dread is half-hearted performances that bespeak rushed rehearsals and BTS hostilities.

BombaySapphire3 03-14-2013 09:41 PM

Having seen SOTM performed on both the Tusk and Mirage tours including "the performance" at the Forum in 1982 I'll live on my memories.

Macfanforever 03-14-2013 09:44 PM

Wow that's great news.

They must of been reading the board. We cried out loud for SOTM and they heard us.

Thank you FM.

Artemis 03-14-2013 09:44 PM

This is either going to be absolutely amazing, and produce a load of "why the hell did they ever take it out of their set in the first place?!" posts.

Or it's gonna suck. I'm hoping for the former, I can totally picture Stevie rocking it even with her modern voice.

Either that or it'll get dropped.

mottabam 03-14-2013 10:40 PM

I'm so happy SOTM will be performed on this tour. I just can't wait for opening night in Columbus.

I think Sisters Of The Moon is going to evolve in the vein that Gold Dust Woman evolved. Gold Dust Woman is far more vocally chaste & restrained these days, but it's still a highlight of any Mac/Stevie show. The delivery of the song is totally different each tour, but the impact doesn't change. It's still dark, dramatic, atmospheric, & spooky. I love every iteration of Gold Dust Woman, and I expect to feel the same way about Sisters Of The Moon.

I totally get what you're saying and agree  As long as people aren't expecting full on wild Mirage-tour-style-vocals from Stevie, I think this song will surprise. I can't wait to hear it!

Yup. A beautiful highlight of that album, a sonic wonderland. I have long been completely puzzled by the hate some have for it, along with the adoration of the half-baked screaming mess of the ancient demo.

Peestie 03-15-2013 07:03 AM

Great that they're going to do SOTM!

They can do it straight after one of the new songs ;)

TheWILDheart 03-15-2013 07:40 AM

I AM SO FREAKIN EXCITED ABOUT THIS, I JUST WANT TO START TWIRLING!!! :blob2::blob1::]:woohoo:
