Though absolutely unrealistic - Who would like to hear "Gold" live?

This would be a really big surprise and yes, it is absolutely unrealistic.
But let's just suppose...

What would you say if "Gold" would appear in the next setlist?

I would absolutely love it, since the song seems so perfect for the stage - it rocks and delivers great energy.
Lindsey could easily take over the John Stewart part and Stevie would be so perfect...

What do you think?

CADreaming 03-06-2013 07:20 AM

I would love to hear Lindsey & Stevie do Gold. But there are other FM songs they've never done before I want to hear more.

Artemis 03-06-2013 08:48 AM

No, for two reasons

1) The original is perfect, hearing Stevie try and sing like that now would be... no.
2) They have their own songs that I'd prefer to hear live first

On Ice 03-06-2013 08:52 AM

Perhaps...if I could time travel back to about 1980

i really don't care for this song at all. if Stevie does it instead of Stand Back, i could live with that.

I agree with N.2, that's why I'm against IYD songs. But disagree with N.1, cause then she shouldn't sing Sara, Gypsy, and lot of old songs.

I do like the song and would enjoy to see L&S performing it. But as I said in other threads, there are lot of FM never played lived that deserve an opportunity.

If I was to pick a John Stewart song with Stevie that we could dream about hearing, it would be Midnight Wind.

Unfortunately, both Mr. Stewart and Stevie's 1979 voice have passed on.

shackin'up 03-07-2013 07:10 AM

I'd love it. Also Poor Poor Pityful Me, Zevon's song, would be a great thing Lindsey and Stevie could do. Very apropriate, too ;):D

I'd love hearing both Gold & Midnight Wind. Just don't know if Lindsey's voice could convey the gravitas that John Stewart had in abundance.

Fireflies 03-07-2013 11:00 AM

nah.

chiliD 03-07-2013 11:22 AM

If John Stewart was still alive and made a cameo guest appearance during an encore to do the song, fine. But, as someone already mentioned, he's not.

Plus, that song isn't associated with Fleetwood Mac...just Lindsey & Stevie, so it wouldn't really be appropriate to incorporate into a Fleetwood Mac set.

Since the precedent of their doing "Stand Back" & "Go Insane" in a Fleetwood Mac context, those "solo" songs are now, for all intents, Fleetwood Mac songs. Which is similar to the mid-70's Faces concert sets being half conceived of songs recorded & released on Rod Stewart albums (although a few fellow Faces members were on the original recordings)

Macfanforever 03-07-2013 02:12 PM

I love the tune.I rather hear it in her solo set list then FM.She could ditch Rock and Roll and do Gold with Steve Real.

HomerMcvie 03-07-2013 02:29 PM

I would LOVE it. Gold is one of my favorite songs of all time. And back when it was a hit, I didn't even know who was playing/producing on it. I just loved the song. Which totally makes sense now, knowing the details.

SteveMacD 03-07-2013 02:56 PM

I'd rather hear "Warewolves Of London".

And he might not do it this time, even if SB is played. Michele

I'm as sick of hearing Oh Well as I am of Dreams and Go Your Own Way.

WatchChain 03-07-2013 07:44 PM

I'd rather hear "Magnet and Steele"

lol. but you are not going anyway... while this will be my first time and i've never heard oh well and i love the song.

and i can "hear" GYOW as many times as he wants to do it... i love jumping, singing and guitar strumming during that song so as long as i get to do that i'me more than happy to see it in any set that Lindsey is involved with. :]

I never said I wasn't going. I only said I wasn't willing to pay those ridiculous prices.

My feeling is that if "Stand Back" and "Go Insane" are in the set, then "Warewoves Of London" should be there, too (since it was the biggest non-Fleetwood Mac hit to feature Mick and John).

I don't have a problem with "Oh Well" for much the same reason I don't have a problem with "Don't Let Me Down Again" (or any Buckingham Nicks song).

good point. although i hope SB and GI are not there... but i do want them replaced with YMBTO and TTWLG. :p  and Warewolves would be nice. :)

Lindsfan 03-07-2013 09:39 PM

I would LOVE to hear it. Ever since I read the press release from John Stewart's memorial. From all accounts, Lindsey's version of John's KT song, Lock All The Windows, was mesmerising, and then when all the musicians joined together to do Gold, it was something pretty special, as well. Though, I don't know if either one would be as powerful in a FM concert setting.

I didn't like Gold when I was growing up, as it was played ad nauseum, but when I listened to it again many years later, I came to really like it.
