They have under 5 weeks

All the members of Fleetwood Mac keeps insisting that they'll release their 3 new songs electronically before they hit the road on April 4th. So that is less then 5 weeks from now. Where are these songs?

In the same place as the Mirage and Tango remasters and Stevie's HBO special DVD release

Hawkeye 02-26-2013 07:19 AM

Yea I realize this isn't a new thing, a delayed release. But these 3 songs are different because there is a very strict time limit to when they need to be released and still no new news.unless now instead, Stevie won't even release the few songs until she gauges fan reaction to them live. why Is she only acting so weird with fleetwood Mac material. It doesn't make sense.

i'm with you! i'm inclined to start a new thread every week as the first tour date approaches titled "WHERE ARE NEW SONGS?????" or something screaming like that.

it seems less plausible that they'll release all 3 songs as the time is running short either:distress:... this is ridiculous, whatever is happening. (i hope i'm wrong, i really do.)

if this is any sign does not bode well for any deep cuts... considering we've been promised the first of these new songs was going to be released at the start of the year (it will be March this week!!!!!), and the second right before the tour starts.

Perhaps we can all shout this at the concerts, back with the people who shout "Where's Christine?!" (happily I was next to some of these people at the Glasgow show in 2009) and the people who walked out half way through because they thought it was going to be a blues show.

CADreaming 02-26-2013 12:36 PM

"Peacekeeper" was released April 15, 2003, 3 weeks before SYW tour started May 7th.

I would guesstimate the new songs drop somewhere around the 2nd or 3rd week in March.

oh i really hope we won't have to. i take it as a given that they will do 3 new songs, at least during first few shows.

thanks that helps. so wait another week. but shout and complain in the meantime :p :D

FierySequences 02-26-2013 01:35 PM

It's my belief that no one in FM is looking for a top 10 hit at all. Ok, well mb Stevie and Mick, but neither of them wrote these songs. And the WY, Stevie is probably saving it for a single, like Landslide was released after The Dance DVD was released.

I, too want to hear them before I go to the show. But, Perhaps this is a good sign that the Mac will release them later and include them on a new album, as if

Of course we all know it's not to encroach upon the "Rumours", "Landslide", and YCFT limelight right now.
This gives me very little hope that we will hear many deep cuts and the tour will be another Rumours love fest.

shackin'up 02-26-2013 05:07 PM

Stevie just had promotion linked to Grohls documentary. Rumours is just rereleased. It's not logic to put out three songs, when the focus is on a sideproject and a rerelease that sells Pretty well. Then you wait with new work. The gigs sell good too, So there is no need for more promotion yet. We won't see anything before the last week of march, I think.

that was all over a month ago... water under the bridge. considering all that has been going so well, all the more reason to strike the iron while it's hot, no?!

I'msoAfraid95 02-26-2013 06:02 PM

Why not release them earlier than they are?( If they're even going to be released?) :shrug:If they do that, they might get new fans who want to see them live. Which equals more $$$.

I'm shocked that Stevie agreed to let them be released online. Y'all know her and her views on modern technology. I wonder if she even has a cell phone?

editme2 02-26-2013 06:09 PM

In a perfect world, at least one of the songs would be released next week, a month before they hit the road.

But this is Fleetwood Mac, so we won't hear any of these new songs until we see them performed live. And then only people at the beginning of the tour will hear them because Stevie will demand that they be dropped after the first few shows because of lack of audience reaction.

But that's why we love the Mac.....

She acts all against it, but she definitely has a cell phone despite claiming she didn't for a while and she also has and loves her iPad (which is a form of a computer, just for the record, Stevie..)

I figured that she did. Now I doubt that she'll ever use Twitter or something of the sort. I was picturing her with the flip type cell phones.

I wonder what it would be like trying to teach her how to text?

" No Stevie, you must press this button to get to your messages". " Now press that 1 to do a new message. " Enter the phone number that you want to send it too" " Now type the message"

5 minutes pass, " Stevie have you finished your text yet?"

Stevie: "No I got frustrated and decided just to call instead"

Me: "You're harder to teach than my grandmother's dog. You'll never learn.

Her: "I never wanted to in the first place. Mick is the one who wanted me to learn"
:rolleyes::lol:
:D

Ok, I probably went overboard.

Come on elle, she was promoting the first song of sound city soundtrack feb. 15th. In the late show. Reissue came out Jan 29th. The Thing sells. Why draw attention off of that by releasing new music for the first time in ten years? No, there's a slightly bit of marketing active here, I guess. They're milking Rumours first. I guess they will not release all three songs at once either.

But look at how long it took Lindsey to record and get out Under the Skin. 14 years between it and OOTC. Then again FM stole some of his songs.

Rehearsals just started this week and in a few days Stevie is outta there to do a solo show in Palm Springs. Someone said in another forum she has a private corporate gig later in the week. There isn't enough time to rehearse a bunch of songs they've never played before. Expect the Unleashed set with a couple of new songs and kiss your 400.00 goodbye.

yeah - exactly what happens when he gets involved with the big machine and/or listens to the record labels. but that is also water under the bridge and he seems to be well over it since 2005, from Soundstage on, and i hope that kind of period never happens again, and frankly i don't think he'd let it.

as far as i know rehearsals started more than a week ago. i don't see them stopping rehearsals if Stevie is not there for a day here or there plus they can rehearse new songs during the time she is there - which would be most of the time if she has 2 gigs.

old songs they can all do in their sleep anyway.

  • SYW came out in 2003, and the tour was 2003/2004, right?
  • Soundstage with most new and tons of never released songs came out in 2005.
  • UTS came out in 2006, he toured it 2006/2007.
  • Bass Hall live album/DVD came out in 2007 (or 2008?).
  • GOS came out in 2008, he toured it end of 2008.
  • 2009 was Unleashed.
  • 2010 he was hoping for FM album recording, didn't happen so he recorded SWS instead, shopped it around for few months and decided his own label is the best option (great move, no more waiting for any label to decide!).
  • 2011 SWS and Songs From The Small MAchine Live in LA came out, he toured SWS in fall 2011.
  • 2012 he toured as OMS and released live One Man Show album.
i like this list and activity above, but what i see ahead of us is:
  • 2013 FM tour, he wanted to release FM album concurrently, and somebody put a stop to that.
  • 2014 - what? trying to get somebody to record FM album? trying to put out BN and record BN2? tour BN? this all could easily not happen, so we will have Mac tour in 2013 and nothing in 2014? or FM album in 2014 and another ultra expensive FM tour in 2015. yuck!!

that was after several live performances and sound city movie performing it. it basically came out on Jan 31st/Feb 1st when the movie had its release and Sound City players did their first gig. (how was their London gig btw? anybody knows? guess i should check youtube and sound city site.)

so all this was end of Jan. it will be March this week. Jan seems like a long long time ago. :p how many songs and videos did Bowie release already ahead of his March upcoming album?

I think it will be FM tour 2013-2014 with a little BN blip in between (maybe in the fall of this year - something small). The singles will lead into BN, which is why they would put Without You out as "Fleetwood Mac", in order to better market BN.

No FM 2015 - they'll be done with that for "3" years...even though that is the 40th anniversary for the BN version of FM but I won't tell 'em if you won't. ;)

Of course, I would prefer a 2014 BN focus - complete with album and at least a mini tour but, I can't see it fully happening. I can see them doing a live show to be filmed like Michele has mentioned. That would be nice.

lol - we are safe as far as that goes, we know they don't know their math - 1977-2013 is somehow 35 years, 2009-2013 is somehow 3 years, need i go on? :D

You're lucky you missed out on the inexplicably long waits for Lindsey's material, prior to the list you posted!

1983: Go Insane released
1986: three years later, shifts recording solo album to recording with Fleetwood Mac
1987: Tango In The Night released; quits Fleetwood Mac
1988: tells Musician magazine he has a "double album worth of material" ready to release
1992: four years later, finally releases 13 of those songs (not counting short spoken & instrumental introductions) on Out Of The Cradle
1997: five years later, tells Fleetwood Mac reunion tour audiences that his album is "half finished"
2002: another five years later, folds material from still-unfinished solo album into Fleetwood Mac
2003: Say You Will released

Back then, that small machine was in some serious need of WD-40! lol

Meanwhile, maybe it's a good sign that the three new songs haven't been released digitally yet. Maybe the band is still considering something bigger.

oh believe me, i know i'm lucky! i became a fan in Dec 2009. the whole 2010, there was not a peep! i though i will never ever have a chance to see him live or hear any new music from him. i thought FM has folded with the GH tour and they were done. i was so regretting not looking LB up sooner and going to see him in 2006-2008. when Saban was announced 2 weeks before the show i needed a full day to decide to go because even though there were serious rumors about the new album, i was thinking that might be the only opportunity ever to see him live. and then 2011 and 2012 happened! and now i'm spoiled and i don't want to go back!

gotta love your optimism about the good sign. i still want those 3 new songs NOW! again, look at all the reissues and new songs and new album Bowie is putting out right about now!

i can only imagine. although he/they were younger then. one could have expected he will resurface somewhere considering he was only in his mid-late 30s in 1987.

in 2009-10 he was 60 and i thought both he and FM are done and retired, especially considering they were milking the greatest hits tour all throughout 2009 and that never happened before. some time in 2010 there was a RIP John McVie trending on twitter one day. it was a sad stupid hoax, but looked entirely plausible.

True, but he had said for years how much he disliked touring. I thought it was entirely possible that he'd never tour again. In fact, I was shocked when he did tour.

They don't need Stevie at rehearsal everyday just like they don't need her to record 8 songs. She can come in work on the vocals at the end. I don't think Stevie's solo gigs mean there can't be much different material. The guys can get the music down and she can come in later and sing, she should know the lyrics already and can brush up in her downtime.

I should have done a poll.

New Material:

1. Before touring starts
2. After touring starts
3. Never
