setlist for FM Live 2013 (picked by the ledge)

in several most recent interviews, Stevie, Lindsey and Mick were mentioning what might be on their mind for the tour setlist -
they mentioned:
  • about 12-13 must-do songs
  • 3 new songs
  • 1 BN song
  • 1 solo song each from LB and SN
  • that all would add up to ~19 songs which would leave space for between 4 and 6 deep cuts (depending on which other often-performed and/or pre-rumours songs make the set).

we had several separate threads either voting or suggesting solo, BN, and must-do songs, plus a thread with a lot of good suggestions for 3 deep cuts from SN and 3 deep cuts from LB.

from all those threads, one can piece together a ledge-suggested setlist, that would go somewhat like this (not in order):

6 deep cuts:
The Ledge
Tango in the Night
What Makes You Think You're the One
Sisters of the Moon
Angel
That's Alright

2 solo songs:
That’s The Way Love Goes or Rock Away Blind
You May Be The One or Soldier’s Angel

7 must-do songs:
Rhiannon
Go Your Own Way
Landslide
I'm So Afraid
Big Love
Dreams
The Chain
Don’t Stop

6 probable must-do songs:
Gypsy
Tusk
Second Hand News
Never Going Back Again
Gold Dust Woman
Silver Springs

BN song:
Frozen Love

3 new songs:
Without You
Sad Angel
Miss Fantasy

all together 26.

How can Soldier's Angel be considered a solo song when she's going to do that with Lindsey?

it is on SN's solo album, and is therefore her solo song, the same as Stop Dragging would be.

I know. As much as I would love to hear/see her do it live with LB - honestly I got enough of it on the IYD tour. We can move on to another BN song. But if she's still hell bent then I'll take it.

Wrong. They are on solo albums - they are not solo songs. I think that makes it a bit uneven, but whatever. It's a decent list.

redbird 02-15-2013 12:13 AM

No problem, thanks for doing this entire thing. One thing, you have 7 must-do songs written above a list of 8 songs. I think the total should say 27? Also, is Gypsy as probable as the five others in that group? I thought Stevie had been dropping that song in the last tour ... I could be misremembering.

oops!

yeah agree Gypsy is not as probable as the others, and maybe Silver Spring is not either (they dropped it at some show last tour), but i thought i'd be fair and have the same number of SN and LB songs on the list.

Because it's from a solo Stevie album?

 i guess i should have removed it from the list all together, considering that You May Be The One got 16 votes over SA 13 votes.

if they do a song that would be counted as BN but it really is a more recent solo song, i'd rather hear Twisted than SA. but that might be just me.

me too, happily.

this is the list our members suggested, with a good number of additional options in the post above, for deep cuts.

i'm sure FM would never have the guts to go with the setlist that would look something like what we have here. :p

see i can't say that the list we came up with is what i want or prefer, but it was what we all combined came up with when working in the constrains that Stevie, Lindsey, and Mick put around the setlist for their upcoming tour. it shows that even in those constrains the setlist can very much differ from the same-ole tired one.

cantgoback 02-16-2013 09:33 AM

Here's a mixture of what I would like and what will probabl happen, i'll put mine in bold (the ones not in bold are not songs that i don't want them to play btw they're just songs that I know they'll play)

LB:
Big Love
I'm So Afraid
Tusk (probably)
Go Your Own Way
World Turning (yes i know it's co-written with Chris)
Can't Go Back
solo 1
solo 2
new song
Blue Letter
Tango in the Nigh
That's Enough For Me or The Ledge

SN:
Dreams
Landslide
Rhiannon
Silver Springs (probably, right?)
Gold Dust Woman (I debated weather to make this bold or not)
Seven Wonders
New song
solo 1
solo 2 (maybe) [if so i'd like them to do Bella Donna the song]
Sara (maybe)
Gypsy (maybe)
Sisters of the Moon (It's one of my favorites)
Storms

BN:
Frozen Love (maybe)
Don't Let Me Down Again, Crying in the Night or Long Distance Winner

Although it's not a favorite here, I love this BN idea if CM isn't going to join them on a few tour stops.

Actually, that could be a good idea, if she chose to be an honorary guest in certain cities. Then the Mac could have 2 set lists to alternate.

alternating setlists - now you are talking language i can understand!! :]

(not that it would ever happen lol)

charnicks88 02-16-2013 02:55 PM

Considering the fact that at the moment I'll be attending 3 concerts, I would be a fan of an alternating set list! When Prince played at the o2 Arena in London for a month back in 2007 he changed up his set list every single night so you never knew what you were going to get.

IMO I would love to hear some more music from Tango In The Night; Mystified & You & I Part II are two of my favourites. Granted, we would need Christine but I can dream...!

I'msoAfraid95 02-16-2013 03:26 PM

Just mix it up a bit, guys. Drop the Chris songs. Don't do Lal the hits. Give us mega fans something to drool over. ;)

Tori Amos does this every night on tour. I've seen her about 16 times now, attending multiple shows on the same tour, and never once had the same setlist.

This is the type of show a musician can label themselves a true ARTIST. This way she pleases herself and all of her fans. If FM did this I wouldn't mind forking over my life savings to attend multiple shows. It would be a fan's dream come true.

if it's done well, yes. i'm sure Tori does it well.

there are bands who were doing different setlists every night but they were crappily done most nights. unless fans following them around are to high all the time to notice, i would think nobody would want that option.

however, i do think they should at least have like 5-10 more songs prepared and alternate them from night to night so that every night is different and worth attending b/c there will be something special... kinda like Lindsey promised he'll do with requests on his next solo tour. or somewhat like Bruce does all the time.

here's updated deep cuts suggestion list that ledgies think band should consider:

added new votes -

LB
16 Tango in the Night
14 The Ledge
9 What Makes You Think You're the One
7 Can't Go Back
7 Caroline
6 Walk a Thin Line
5 Book of Love
5 Miranda
4 Save Me A Place
3 Blue Letter
2 Murrow Turning Over
2 Not That Funny
2 Steal Your Heart Away
1 Bleed to Love Her
1 Monday Morning
1 Peacekeeper
1 That's All For Everyone
1 That's Enough For Me

SN
15 Sisters of the Moon
14 That's Alright
13 Angel
5 Seven Wonders
4 Everybody Finds Out
4 Running Through the Garden
3 Destiny Rules
3 I Don't Wanna Know
3 Smile At You
3 When I See You Again

2 No Questions Asked
2 Straight Back
2 Thrown Down
2 The Second Time
2 Fireflies
1 Affairs of the Heart
1 Illume
1 Beautiful Child
1 Welcome To The Room Sara

if you haven't put in your suggestions yet, jump in the "6 deep cuts" thread and list FM "deep cuts" that you would love to hear live (3 form SN, 3 from LB since we are trying to be fair and balanced :D).

So Whats is the big deal on changing the setlist on every show.As long as the band and crew is on the same page before the show gets on the way. It should go fine.

Maybe thats a good question to ask Stevie and FM.

if they'd play the ones i bolded on your list i would be very very happy and could probably make it through the rest of it unscathed! ;)

however, no way there would be 3 LB solo songs played during FM shows.

right?

same with Tango, although i'm really happy What Makes You Think You're The One is consistently among top 3.

Wasn't surprised by Tango. We used to ask for it all the time. It would be at the top of every list and Chili would tell us it was the same thing as ? I don't know ISA or some other song and say we already HAD Tango.

I agree with you about Caroline's votes.

Dragonfly 02-19-2013 01:27 PM

Although I probably won't make a show this time around I would LOVE to see SOTM added to the set.

I got the Mirage tour video many years ago and this was the song I watched the most - and having seen the Tusk tour version that's floating around on YouTube I still think this is one of the best songs the band did live.

I wonder why they dropped it? It wasn't a hit for them but it always seemed to be so well received:shrug:

IIRC, they started playing SOTM late on in the Rumours tour, and then throughout the Tusk and Mirage tours.

I imagine Stevie didn't really have the energy to rip it up by the time it came around to the Tango tour in 87 as she was pretty much doped up on klonopin for the whole tour, so it got dropped (along with "Rhiannon") and then forgotten about

jkmaletic 02-19-2013 03:32 PM

Although unlikely, I think it'd be cool if they covered "Walls" by Tom Petty.
