Songs you would eliminate from and album

What song (just one) would you take off of any album with the Rumours line up+ Say You Will?
Fleetwood Mac (1975): Sugar Daddy
Rumours: I Don't Want To Know (Silver Springs is better)
Tusk: What Makes You Think You're the One
Mirage: Empire State (why is that on there?)
Tango in the Night: When I See You Again (Stevie's vocals are too weird!)
Say You Will: Red Rover

Some may disagree with my list but whatever, everyone has an opinion, I want to know yours.

1975 White Album: Warm Ways
Rumours: I Don't Want to Know
Tusk: Not That Funny (or, frankly, most of LB's songs)
Mirage: Empire State
TITN: When I See You Again
Say You Will: Silver Girl

for the record, My Little Demon would be cut from The Dance and Fireflies would go from the 1980 Live album.

I pretty much agree except I love Warm Ways haha, i should've included The Dance and Live, and i agree with those as well. My little demon was sort've a stupid song haha.

Whereas I love Sugar Daddy! It just cheers me up because it's such a happy song, plus you get Christine laughing right towards the end.

Fleetwood Mac - Sugar Daddy

Rumours - none

Tusk - Think About Me (I like this song but have always felt it would have fitted Mirage better), Never Make Me Cry, That's Enough For Me.

Mirage - Love In Store (although like the live version), Book of Love, Wish You Were Here, Empire State. My least favourite Rumours line-up album by far.

Tango - You and I (Part 2). I know people knock Stevie's songs on this album, but given what she was going through I find them quite haunting/touching.

Say You Will - What's The World Coming To, Running Through The Garden, Silver Girl, Bleed To Love Her (already on The Dance so didn't see the need for them to include it here).

bluecalmsea 02-13-2013 05:22 PM

Fleetwood Mac (1975): Blue Letter
Rumours: Oh Daddy
Tusk: Not That Funny
Mirage: Empire State
Tango in the Night: Family Man
Say You Will: Silver Girl

You didn't include The Dance... "My Little Demon"

I think the SYW version of Bleed to Love Her is better than The Dance one because the harmonies are so layered and lovely. It was the last one where you hear the three Rumours lineup singers harmonising and it's special because of that. (I'm never clear on Steal Your Heart Away whether Christine is singing on that, or just playing keyboards.)

WildHearted 02-13-2013 05:41 PM

White Album - Warm Ways (or Sugar Daddy, either way really)

Rumours - Oh Daddy

Tusk - Honey Hi

Mirage - This was harder than I thought... but probably either Empire State or Only Over You

Tango - Family Man

Say You Will - Miranda

louielouie2000 02-13-2013 05:50 PM

Fleetwood Mac (1975): Sugar Daddy (cheesy)
Rumours: Don't Stop (super cheesy)
Tusk: What Makes You Think You're the One (OBNOXIOUS)
Mirage: Empire State (awful)
Tango in the Night: None (though Joan Of Arc would have been a better choice than When I See You Again)
Say You Will: Say Goodbye (the weird speediness kills it; the live version is gorgeous, though)

I know you are either joking about Running Through the Garden, or it is a typo or something. I mean, like, come on....

Jondalar 02-13-2013 06:05 PM

Fleetwood Mac: Warm Ways
Rumours: Perfect album, every song brings a unique energy.
Tusk: Save me a place
Mirage: Oh Diane
Tango in the Night: Welcome to the room Sara
Say You Will: Goodbye Baby

Blueletter18 02-13-2013 06:05 PM

Fleetwood Mac: Sugar Daddy
Rumours: Oh Daddy (guess I don't like Daddy songs...)
Tusk: Save Me A Place
Live: Oh Well
Mirage: Empire State
Tango in the Night: Family Man
Say You Will: Red Rover
The Dance: My Little Demon

If you can do that then I want to take off Silver Girl, Goodbye Baby and Running Through the Garden.

CADreaming 02-13-2013 06:08 PM

Fleetwood Mac: Warm Ways - puts me to sleep
Rumours: NONE
Tusk: Save Me a Place - too draggy
Live: One More Night - how do I not remember this song?
Mirage: Empire State, Only Over You, Oh Diane and maybe Straight Back
Tango in the Night: Caroli-ine-ine-ine - gets on my nerves, Mystified - at times I'm mystified at this song, Family Man reminds me of Popeye, Isn't It Midnight
The Dance: My Little Demon - bores me and I hate the beginning sound effects, it would have been better as just an instrumental but I do get a kick out of watching them perform it on The Dance
Say You Will: Murrow Turning Over, Silver Girl, Say Goodbye - I hate this version, prefer the live.
Live in Boston: Come, replaced with Gypsy or The Chain

Sorry hun, but not a fan of it.

I'm not keen on Thrown Down either but didn't want to pick anymore as I do love the album in general.

Lol. Why is it even when the thread says you can pick only one do people always seem to pick three or four? ;)

In that case, most of SYW and Mirage would have been culled by me.

atlnightbird 02-13-2013 06:37 PM

Fleetwood Mac...Warm Ways
Rumours...Songbird
Tusk...Save me a place
Mirage...Oh Diane
tango...you and I part 2
Say you will...Red Rover

Dammit, that's me:sorry:

I didn't see the (only one) until I read your post, what an idiot!

I'll do it again:

Fleetwood Mac - Sugar Daddy

Rumours - None

Tusk - Never Make Me Cry

Mirage - Book Of Love

Tango - You and I (Part 2)

SYW - Silver Girl

Oops me too! My bad - I peruse too much.:sorry:

chiliD 02-13-2013 07:41 PM

1975--sorry, like it just the way it is.

Rumours -- although I like "I Don't Want To Know"...I would put "Silver Springs" on instead. (even thought it wouldn't fit an LPs running time)

Tusk -- oh don't get me started...suffice it to say I'd trim this sucker down to a single album.

Mirage -- would've tried to convince them to not even release this one...just release "Gypsy" as the single with "Hold Me" as the B-side and let it go at that. Well, being that it was their first NEW album of the CD age, release a 4 song CD single: "Gypsy", "Hold Me", "Eyes Of The World", "Wish You Were Here"

Tango -- Dump that piece of dog feces called "Welcome To The Room...Sara" and replace it with "Book Of Miracles", but make Stevie finish it so it ended up as "Juliet".

CADreaming 02-13-2013 07:50 PM

Here are my ONLY ONE choices... :)

Fleetwood Mac: Warm Ways
Rumours: NONE
Tusk: Save Me a Place
Live: One More Night
Mirage: Oh Diane
Tango in the Night: Caroline
The Dance: My Little Demon
Say You Will: Murrow Turning Over
Live in Boston: Come

jbrownsjr 02-13-2013 08:27 PM

White Album: Blue Letter
Rumours: IDWK (I guess if I have to cut one)
Tusk: Not that Funny (love the live version)
Mirage: Oh Diane
Tango: Caroline
Dance: My Little Demon
SYW: What's The World Comin To

KarmaContestant 02-13-2013 10:29 PM

I can't really pick any to eliminate.

This is an interesting concept. How about two 12" Singles, one for Gypsy and one for Hold Me, each with two b-sides?

Gypsy, with Eyes of the World and Wish You Were Here
Hold Me, with That's Alright and Teen Beat

I wish FM had utilized the 12" Single and E.P formats with habitual frequency.

McTrouble 02-13-2013 10:37 PM

Impossible to take off just one song from each album - cos I would eliminate every Stevie song! ;):p

redtulip 02-13-2013 10:38 PM

Fleetwood Mac: Crystal
Rumours: I Don't Want to Know
Tusk: Sara
Live: Sara
Mirage: That's Alright
Tango in the Night: Wecome to the Room Sara
The Dance: Sweet Girl
Say You Will: Illume
Live in Boston: Goodbye Baby

aleuzzi 02-13-2013 10:44 PM

White Album: Nothing

Rumours: Nothing

Tusk: Nothing

Live: Over and Over

Mirage: Empire State

Tango: Welcome to the Room...Sara

Greatest Hits: No Questions Asked
.....

The Dance: Rhiannon (would've replaced it with Gold Dust)

Say You Will: Silver Girl

Live in Boston: Goodbye Baby

Best of: Skies the Limit or Paper Doll

elle 02-13-2013 11:09 PM

White Album: Sugar Daddy

Rumours: Oh Daddy

Tusk: Sara

Live: One More Night
Mirage: Empire State
Tango in the Night: TIE:When I See You Again/Welcome To the Room...Sara
The Dance: Sweet Girl

redbird 02-14-2013 12:31 AM

White: "Warm Ways"

Rumours: none

Tusk: "Never Make Me Cry"

Mirage: "Wish You Were Here"

Tango: "Family Man" or "Welcome to the Room...", it's SO hard to decide.

The Dance: "Sweet Girl"

Say You Will: "What's the World Coming To"

I like Christine McVie a lot more than this post makes it seem. I just like her rootsy stuff more than the sleeker pop. Stevie Nicks basically didn't do a single thing wrong for me until Tango (when it comes to Mac records).

moon 02-14-2013 12:41 AM

People, I must terribly say, that WE'RE SO CRUEL!!!!! Hehehehe
My list:

- Fleetwood Mac: Sugar Daddy, definitely
- Rumours: I don't want to know and Oh Daddy (please!)
- Tusk: Storms, That's enough for me, Never make me cry, Honey Hi
- Live: Never going back again, Landslide, Fireflies, One more night, The Farmer's Daughter
- Mirage: NONE
- Tango In The Night: None, I suppose...
- The Dance (CD version): I change Big Love, Go Insane, Landslide and Say You Love Me for Gold Dust Woman, Gypsy, Over My Head and Songbird.
- Say You Will: None

I looove "Sugar Daddy", so much fun. I love "My Little Demon" for similar reasons too though, heheh, just goes to show funny taste is.

TheSorcerer 02-14-2013 03:27 AM

Fleetwood mac - Warm Ways
Rumours - None really. I don't really like Don't Stop but Rumours wouldn't be Rumours without that song.
Tusk - Walk a Thin Line
Live - One More Night
Mirage - Can't Go Back
Tango in the Night - When I See You Again
The Dance - My Little Demon
Say You Will - Murrow Turning Over in His Grave

TheWILDheart 02-14-2013 06:14 AM

Fleetwood Mac - Warm Ways
Rumours - Oh Daddy
Tusk - What Makes You Think You're The One
Live - None
Mirage - Oh Diane (or maybe Only Over You)
Tango - You and I
Mask - Stand On The Rock
Time - ALL of it
The Dance - My Little Demon (why did Lindsey get TWO new songs?)
Say You Will - Murrow Turning Over In His Grave

D.W-Suite 02-14-2013 07:21 AM

White album - Sugar Daddy.
What an utterly utterly appalling song. Embarrassingly woeful.

Rumours - Oh Daddy.
Easily the weakest song on the album. Also I would move Songbird to the end, or near it. The contrast between that and Go Your Own Way before it is too much, and almost kills the flow of the record halfway through.

Tusk - Nothing.
My favourite Mac album, I've listened to it so much I probably couldn't drop anything on it. Sure there are songs I'd probably skip depending on my mood on a particular day, but nevermind.

Mirage - Only Over You.
Never liked this song. The opening vocals are enough to annoy me. Also Empire State, that sounds like it should really have been on Law and Order instead of a Mac record....

Tango in the Night - Welcome to the Room...Sara
The song title alone sums up the whole song. Utterly appalling and devoid of imagination. When I See You Again is also quite poor. Family Man only survives because of the nice guitar work on it. And also because those 2 Stevie songs are far worse.

Say You Will - Silver Girl. I actually like the melody to this song. But the lyrics are just terrible. Yes, even worse than the lyrics to Family Man.

I'm not even going to attempt to comment on their live albums. There are so so much songs they could have released/performed instead of what we have, especially on the Live 1980 album. Personally I would rather a whole new Live album from that era released, instead of any more remasters.

mitzo 02-14-2013 08:34 AM

Warm Ways, Oh Daddy, and Only Over You are some of my all time favourite songs. To me, most of Lindsey's contributions are the disposables from the FM catalogue. He really should have stuck to singing backup and producing what the girls did.

Ulpian 02-14-2013 08:41 AM

Ha ha :D

I am more inclined toward Christine and Stevie's material. I have tried and tried to like the bulk of Lindsey's 'Tusk' songs, for example, but I just don't get them. That said, when he is on form, I think he is incomparable: Go Your Own Way, I'm So Afraid, Caroline and Tango in the Night are, for me, pretty sublime.

seekerj 02-14-2013 11:19 AM

Although there may be some songs on each album that I don't love, or even really like, I can live with anything but "Everywhere", "Family Man" and "Not Too Funny".

They should have given "Everywhere" to Wilson Phillips or some other bubblegummy-poppy act.

"Family Man" has lyrics?? No, it truly doesn't. That's why I can't stand it. I will give you that it has words. But it does not have lyrics.

GypsySorcerer 02-14-2013 11:31 AM

Fleetwood Mac: "Warm Ways." It's pretty, but ZZZZZZZzzzzzz.
Rumours: None. I like some more than others, but I can't imagine this album without each of these songs. And, yes, that includes IDWTK over "Silver Springs."
Tusk: None. I love it as is.
Live: "One More Night." One of two Christine songs I hate.
Mirage: "Only Over You." The other Christine song I hate. I'd toss "Empire State" too.
Tango: I'd drop "When I See You Again" and "Welcome to the Room...Sara," and swap "You and I, Part I" for "Your and I, Part II".
The Dance: I liked all the new songs, but would have added "Gold Dust Woman" to the CD.
SYW: "Silver Girl."
