On January 29th, Fleetwood Mac will reissue their 1977 classic Rumours in a new edition packed with tons of unreleased material from the studio and stage. Now you can get an exclusive first listen to the 12 unreleased live tracks that will be included with the new set. Recorded during the band's 1977 world tour at concerts in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Nashville and Columbia, South Carolina, the disc features Fleetwood Mac favorites like "Rhiannon" and "World Turning," as well as plenty of Rumours highlights including a swooning rendition of "Dreams," a stomping version of "The Chain" that comes to a raucous conclusion, and the heartbreaking closer "Songbird." Fleetwood Mac will hit the road for their first tour since 2009, starting April 4th in Columbus, Ohio, with additional dates just announced.

Great document of a real live show without any post production overdubs and noodling. It's raw and imperfect as it should be because it's entirely it's authentic. I love it. Just wish there was more to it.

A full set list might include any number of songs: Say You Love Me, Landslide, Blue Letter, I'm So Afraid, Over My Head, Don't Let Me Down Again, Second Hand News, You Make Loving Fun, or even the few pre-rumour era songs they were still performing early in the tour, such as Oh Well.

I'm glad they used the recording of one of the intros that was the "birth of Tusk".

Yeah, "Station Man", "Sunny Side Of Heaven", "Oh Well", "Why", "Hypnotized" & "Green Manalishi" would've been nice.

Brain fart: Yes I meant Don't Let Me Down Again. I went back and corrected it. Pretend that never happened!

Considering they left off those other tunes from the '75 album, even wishing that they'd put any Pre-75 material on there is even lower odds than "pipe dreaming". :nod:

And, I agree...they SHOULD'VE put "You Make Loving Fun" on there; in place of "Don't Stop". The latter song was rarely played during the '77 tour, but "You Make Loving Fun" was a concert set staple long before the Rumours album was released...they started playing it in May '76. Plus, do we NEED another live version of "Don't Stop"? Obviously, not. But, a live version of YMLF from those days has never officially been released. (yes, I know it was on The Dance)

So far these are all really good.

I'm only at Rhiannon though. Stevie taking the high part on the chorus shocked me for a second there.

I just listened to that...sounded like Christine on the high-harmony...Lindsey (surprisingly) has the lowest part. Later versions, they switched parts around. I think over the years they've each sung all three parts of the harmony on that at some point.

I think Stevie definitely is singing the highest part - there's no mistaking the vibrato. Christine is singing the middle part, and yes, Lindsey's got the lowest. Dreams was the same way.

But yeah, I've heard all of them doing it all at some point :lol: It just stood out to me here because I guess Stevie's mic is up since it's her song, so the higher harmony is really pronounced.

Edited to say that Gold Dust Woman was incredible.

That Rhiannon was incredible, Stevie's voice was simply amazing. Gold Dust Woman was also brilliant, as always.

Interesting to hear that Tusk riff at the beginning of the show... :thumbsup:

just finished listening to "Dreams", "Rhiannon" and "Gold Dust Woman"..

when Stevie Nicks was good... she was very good.

I'm loving the sh!t out of this "Rumours" era live music... simply loving it..

Kinda surprised they are putting the whole version of each song online, rather than just snippets to entice you to buy.-- well, *we* all will buy anyway, but the younger/more casual listeners won't necessarily.

I love the live stuff... It's so clear! And since they took songs from different shows, it makes me sad to think all those live shows are just sitting somewhere WAITING to be mastered properly and released. Took them 35 years to get this one out, I'll be long gone by the next one :) But... happy with this!

Exactly! It kinda kills me to hear all of these so clear..the article mentioned some (if not all cities) that they pulled from for the reiussue. I compared almost the first half of the live reissue to Nashville..one I believe from Oklahoma. And the quality is exponentially improved.

Why not release every city if whole shows are just chilling in the FM vault?!

Almost done listening..at GDW now. The end is KILLER. I haven't matched it up to any version I have. Anyone know? I've heard my fair share of GDW's from this era and others..and I must say this one really impressed me.

makes me miss Christine. "Songbird" is gorgeous and makes me a little sad that I'll never hear it performed live again - such a perfect closer for a Mac show.

And how Chris, Lindsey and Stevie harmonized so uniquely - 3 distinct and different voices - but so beautiful together.

Just 5 players on stage... the fireflies.

It's great to hear these recordings cleaned up and out officially. It would be nice if they reissued an entire show rather than a highlights disc.

Intro + Tusk riff + Monday Morning = PERFECTION!!

Really? It sure didn't kill me. Well, actually listening to it almost did put me to sleep. Why does FM play GDW so wimpy?? This is one of the wimpiest versions I've ever heard. Where's the jam at the end?? The only decent live version I've ever heard from FM was the Japan 1977 version. And Philly 1977, I guess. I'm sorry, but FM just can't play GDW, it's just so DEAD. After Stevie sings the tag, it just fizzles, but what's worse is that it stays that way until the end. You can't even really tell when it's over; you have to listen for the complete silence and then maybe it's over. Even Stevie's current solo band plays it better. And even the Sound City show band was more faithful to the album version and jammed the end. I actually stayed awake and was moving around for that band's version.

We might have to just agree to disagree then :shrug::o I think for the most part, Rumours era performances were so hypnotic and varied compared to the most current versions. So I would agree with your Philly and Japan picks obviously!

My words can be a bit dramatic I guess sometimes, haha but by 'killer' I would most accurately describe that as trance-like or hypnotic. So, for me, I was captured by it! To each their own..but there were later '78, and even '77 performances when her voice was weak/cracking and couldn't hit/hold the wails. That's another reason why I was impressed by the strength..

Also, DEFINITELY agree with the switched up performance at Sundance. I loved that rocking tempo, even if some of her vocal quality had to give for the energy!
