Best Fleetwood Mac Album Cover

I've narrowed it down to the ones I think are best, if you disagree with the choices let me know.

WildHearted 01-13-2013 01:12 PM

I think Mirage is my favorite. I like Say You Will a lot too, especially with John and Mick holding hands.

Say You Will deluxe version is their best cover imo. the regular cover of that album is not bad either. but you don't have them among the choices.

wasn't this just a red cover? lol

in that case I would vote for the original cover

for the record....TITN gets my vote:D

Rumours for it's pure guilty pleasure, just screams "did you hear Mick and Stevie are do'in it?" hence Rumours, perfect cover and iconic pose.

vivfox 01-13-2013 01:43 PM

RUMOURS

So many people have tried to re create this in their own personal pictures.

One of my favorites was our own Louie Louie and his other half.

yeah it was red but not "just red" http://www.amazon.com/Say-You-Will-L.../dp/B00008PW3O - for some reason to me that look is extremely aesthetically pleasing.

michelej1 01-13-2013 01:54 PM

Mirage, but I would even say Mirage open, with all 5 of them. I like that and even the ugly ones happened to look amazing on that one. Actually though, there is only one ugly one.

yes, I have it...a complete waste of my $ for Not Make Believe lol

I'm just glad there wasn't another one that I didn't know about

 Are you refering to Stevie's extended skeleton hand?

I actually love that photo, except for the creepy hand

i agree with you re Not Make Believe, it hurts my ears to listen to that.

but i thought it was well worth the money (of course i bought it off either ebay or amazon about 2 years ago so it was probably much less money then what it was originally offered for) just for the look of the album and especially for Love Minus Zero that i've never heard before that - sublime version!!

Artemis 01-13-2013 02:33 PM

I would have gone for Mirage, but the old lady face in their hands, and the awful airbrushing of Stevie's neck freaks me out.

Rumours is probably their best, clichéd though that answer is. Although, I love the SYW cover, they both look fabulous.

KindOfWoman90 01-13-2013 02:35 PM

I actually voted for Kiln House because I think it's pretty and also interesting how it was before LB/SN yet reflects that California/mystic vibe they brought.
Obviously, Rumours iconic, but felt I had to be different :p

I also really like the SYW and Mirage covers. Tusk not so much, my favorite musically, but the cover looks like an old textbook lol - you know the kind with a crappy graphic and title? For the life of me I can't find an image on Google, but anyway lol just mho.

McTrouble 01-13-2013 02:54 PM

Can't vote cos SYW isn't an option!:distress::distress:

cantgoback 01-13-2013 02:57 PM

I chose Kiln House because of the back although i was really torn between that and Rumours, sorry I didn't include Mirage and Say you will, didn't realize the two would be so popular.

TrueFaith77 01-13-2013 03:25 PM

syw

.....

mylittledemon 01-13-2013 03:57 PM

Rumours is classic... I love The Dance as well... something for me though about this cover

Ulpian 01-13-2013 04:11 PM

TITN! It fascinated me as a child when I found it in my parents' record collection; it was dark, exotic and mysterious. I still love it. :blob2:

Villavic 01-13-2013 04:15 PM

You include Heroes and not Mirage????

Well, it's a free world.

Oh,,, don't be so unfair... Lindsey is not that ugly.

cantgoback 01-13-2013 04:20 PM

Sorry, Mirage always struck me as not boring not not incredibly interesting but heroes was just fascinating and disturbing even though Mirage is a better album

SYW would be my choice too, but since it's not an option I'm going with Tusk. If I can't vote for my favorite album cover, I'll just vote for my favorite album :D

Neal 01-13-2013 10:54 PM

Another Mirage vote here.

But since it wasn't listed I went with TITN.

cantgoback 01-13-2013 11:08 PM

ok wow guys, so sorry for not including Mirage and Say You Will, seriously oops

Awww. No big deal. We'll live :) I'm perfectly happy with Tusk as my choice

SteveMacD 01-14-2013 01:02 AM

Kiln House because it was a cool drawing from Christine.

Why don't you post a 2nd poll with the nonlisted albums? Then we can vote in a 3rd poll from the finalists.

moon 01-14-2013 12:50 PM

Mirage!! More if it's complete, with John and Mick. Then The Dance and maybe Bare Trees.
I never understood the cover of TITN. I mean, the relationship between the title, the tango, and the...jungle? It's a good cover too!
Regards!

yep, just take the top 5 from this poll, and include them in the next one with all the other covers you had to leave out ;)

louielouie2000 01-14-2013 03:39 PM

I'm surprised there were only 2 of us who voted for Mystery To Me! That's such a cool album cover. It's absolutely unforgettable, and totally unique within the realm of Fleetwood Mac. MTM is the only framed album cover I have left on my walls... I adore it!

KarmaContestant 01-14-2013 03:54 PM

I would have voted for Mirage, if it were a choice.

Instead, I voted for Bare Trees. I find it unfortunate that the content of the album has none of the mystery, quiet, or serenity portrayed on the cover.

chiliD 01-14-2013 04:45 PM

Bare Trees Simple...to the point. Both front and back. Plus, it kind of fits the music on the LP.

michelej1 01-14-2013 07:06 PM

If John wanted to publish one of those coffee table photography books, I'd be proud to own it.

There is something so subversive about the Tusk cover, and for that matter, the album itself. It's like an anti-cover, much like the Beatles white album was an anti-cover. And there are so many parallels between those two albums... double albums, mostly white covers, released at the end of their respective decades ten years apart, and both more eccentric than a Quentin Crisp fan convention. The Tusk cover shattered any preconceived notions about the band.

But the real treat is the expansive artwork on the multiple inner sleeves- the haunting photo montages by Peter Beard and all of the random bits of handwritten prose and numbers along with spatters of blood and other mysterious bodily fluids. It's both beautiful yet disturbing at times- much like the album itself. I find it quite fitting that Beard used images of Fleetwood Mac in these montages instead of the elephants, zebras and other wild creatures that are more typical of his safari photography projects. It's all the same. After all, when they lay down in the tall grass, they do their stuff.

You live in southern California so Bare Trees would be befitting to your tastes. I live in the northeast and right now it is winter. It looks just like the cover of Bare Trees and when you live it, it is so depressing and dreary. That is why I never liked that cover. It reminds me too much of my most dreaded season.

holidayroad 01-15-2013 11:24 AM

Mirage is my fave. TITN is my fave from this list.

Blueletter18 01-15-2013 12:00 PM

I vote mirage- I like the concept of SYW, but I don't think Stevie looks like herself in that photo.

See, that's interesting. I don't think the music fits the cover -at all-. And you think it does. Different strokes...

Well, now you make me want to go examine it again. But with latex gloves on. I do love the band shots and the way they are haphazardly arranged.

The Deluxe Version of Say You Will, which I have, IS very aesthetically pleasing. My all time favourite, and the cover I have on my wall is Mirage. But of the options, I definitely have to go with Rumours, how iconic. Or Tango In The Night... BEAUTIFUL!

I don't really like Tusk at all. Blah. I like the fact that it is Scooter, Ken's dog, though.
