Predictions: Christine songs!

Time for some Christine song discussion and predictions!

What Christine songs do you predict the Mac will perform next tour? We know Don't Stop will be done, but what about World Turning...Say You Love Me...something else?

Predict away, Ledgies!

I really don't think they should do any of Chris`s songs, out of respect for her, z7 no offense to Stevie, but she doesn't do a good job on those songs Don`t Stop is alright, though.

HomerMcvie 01-07-2013 02:13 AM

ONLY Chris can sound like Chris. Don't touch that sh*t. Cuz you're f*ckin' it up. #lame

WildHearted 01-07-2013 08:39 AM

I picked the something else option.

But I don't think it will be YMLF. It could possibly be Hold Me since Lindsey had such a prominent part on that song anyway.

Of course, they'll probably play Don't Stop too. Who am I kidding.

No one can sing YMLF. That "beliee EE eve" is untouchable by either of them. It would suck if either of them tried to sing it.

I would like to hear them do Hold Me, although they won't. They decided years ago that it doesn't work on stage.

SpyNote 01-07-2013 02:06 PM

I voted for "Don't Stop," but I'd love for them to try "Isn't It Midnight." It's kind of Lindsey's song, too, since he sings and plays killer guitar on it. The vocal arrangement could be done in the same ways as "Don't Stop." First verse to Lindsey, second to Stevie, and all of them could sing on the chorus. Of course, this will never happen.

They rehearsed YMLF for the 2003 tour but it didn't see the light of day. I think Lindsey would've sung it himself as it's his favourite Chris song, but I'd love to have heard how it sounded!

vivfox 01-07-2013 04:38 PM

They have plenty of songs of their own to sing. Please Lindsey and Stevie, don't cover any of Christine's songs. It is totally unnecessary.

BLY 01-07-2013 06:45 PM

Agreed. No Christine songs necessary.

elle 01-07-2013 07:46 PM

wasn't live version of Hold Me with Christine pretty horrible when compared to studio one?

guess it might be interesting to hear whether it would be a bit less horrible without her :p ;)

BLY 01-07-2013 07:53 PM

Yes. The song didn't hold up well live.

HomerMcvie 01-07-2013 08:03 PM

It didn't hold up well, because there was too much going on, on the recording, to duplicate that with a 4 piece band(tambourine doesn't count as an instrument!:p). I have one live recording of it, and I think it was okay! The only thing really missing was the guitar part going "dink, dink a dink, dink a dink".

Well, even though I liked it, I thought the worst thing was Lindsey SCREAMING "WHY DON'T YOU COME ON AND A"!!!

guess i should listen to it again some time but the whole thing was just so bad.

although lindsey screaming can never be bad in my mind :p ;)

They have more personnel now than they did in 1982 (even when you consider that they had "help" from offstage players back in 1982), so even though they nixed it then, I can see them putting it on the option board again this time around. But I would seriously be shocked if they played it.

Shocked and pleased, to paraphrase Mr. B.

Ha, but if we are doing songs where Lindsey appears already, Think About Me is a more than worthy contender. Plus, it's on that album, which I think kind of makes it a little easier to convince them to add it.

Loved Isn't It Midnight live (one of the few highlights I took from the Cage and BTM tours and I still play today) and would be happy to hear it with Lindsey there.

I would love to see them do Never Forget or Save Me. But if they do a Chris song, they will do one of her hit singles and I doubt they will touch YMLF or Hold Me.

Macfanforever 01-08-2013 01:02 AM

"Don't Stop" is a staple for the live shows. Also goes for Micks spotlight doing his thing with "World Turning".

Other Christine tunes probably wont be sung.

michelej1 01-08-2013 01:08 AM

Stevie's vocals were always a standout component of Over My Head.

On reflection they ought maybe to leave Chris' songs.

Lindsey and Stevie butchered SYLM, by Stevie coming into the first verse late/forgetting the words and Lindsey's scratchy live vocals being completely inappropriate for a song that, when sung by its writer, flowed like draft Guinness into a glass. ;)

I really don't like Don't Stop the way they do it now, too, and Mick's solo has always spoilt World Turning for me.

So, uncharacteristically, I'm a thumbs down for including Christine songs in 2013!

I forget about Christine's Tusk songs, but yeah Think About Me would be great, as Lindsey's vocal is quite prominent on that song. Lindsey doing Isn't It Midnight live would be awesome, too.

But as far as predictions go, I'm just predicting Don't Stop and World Turning. My belief is that this tour will be all about Stevie and Lindsey, so no other Christine songs, just like no other songs by Peter, Welch, etc.

michelej1 01-08-2013 08:16 PM

I would hope World Turning is dropped.

As far as predictions go, I think Don't Stop and some other Christine song to replace SYLM. I think that dame is going to get 2 songs a tour, not counting World Turning.

They seem to treat "World Turning" as one of those have-to-play songs. Not sure I understand why.

I think just for the drum solo [which doesn't explain why Lindsey did it solo, but . . . ], which is why when Mick did his thing on NTF, World Turning wasn't in the setlist.

World Turning is only so Mick can vesturbate in public. #tacky

The reason they do Chris songs is out of respect for her. But I agree they should stop it. Stick to songs you can do justice meaning those written by Stevie and Lindsey plus oh well. Say you love me was such a waste of a song in the set. And while I enjoy her take on world turning I feel that song should be retired and mick can solo in another song.

I would love that!
If they would play both "Sara" and "Gypsy" PLUS "Isn't It Midnight" I would be so happy that I wouldn't mind any other choices in the setlist.
I hate "Oh Diane", but they could play it and I wouldn't care about it anymore. :D

i'd be happy if they don't play any of those 4 songs.
