Fleetwood Mac Article of Tour 2013

Article about Fleetwood Mac's Up coming tour 2013 came across online. Though I would share.

UnwindedDreams 01-05-2013 04:46 PM

thank you for sharing. we're going 2 hear hold me!

MacShadowsBall 01-05-2013 04:52 PM

Stevie quote from the article...
Of the 22 songs Fleetwood Mac will play during a concert, 11 will be hits, such as "Dreams," "Don't Stop" and "Hold Me," Nicks said

Huh, is she serious? Only half of the setlist will be "hits"...

rhiannondontgo 01-05-2013 05:19 PM

lol-ing at the comment from some guy saying she shouldn't be posted about on a catholic website since she's a witch. Evidently he didn't get the "I'm not a witch, get a life" memo.

FierySequences 01-05-2013 05:34 PM

thx for posting....until they sing it (Hold me) I don't believe a word Stevie says.

I'msoAfraid95 01-05-2013 05:42 PM

I doubt that only half will be hits, more like 3/4 or more.
I am shocked that this was posted on a Catholic site because of the myths(which aren`t true of course) about Stevie and witchcraft.

Johnny Stew 01-05-2013 05:47 PM

Once again, there is no direct quote there from Stevie that the band will be playing "Hold Me." The author of the article speculated that the 11 "hits" that Stevie said they'd be playing, would include songs like "Dreams," "Don't Stop" and "Hold Me."

That is how songs are written, stories are told, rumours are started, fans are disappointed....

I see, so the quote is "11 hits will be played" and the article writer elaborated with listing the songs. Gotta love current journalisim/media.

MacShadowsBall 01-05-2013 08:02 PM

I too was surprised about this being on a Catholic website! Sounds like most of the article was taken out of context.

UnwindedDreams 01-05-2013 09:21 PM

If Stevie didn't say they were performing Hold Me, it's interesting to me that the writer would choose Hold Me as one of the hits next to Dreams and Don't Stop. A lot of people know Hold Me but I think if the writer wrote the hits, they would've chosen Landslide or Go Your Own Way. I believe Mac is going to perform Hold Me

see that's whats so confussing when random ppl list FM "hits"....originally Landslide or Silver Springs wouldn't even be on this list....given their tour history...I could write an article and list The Chain, GDW, and Stand Back as FM "hits" and who would oppose me? Certainly not the band.

Even though Hold Me was indeed a hit...if I (and most other fans) were to write about our beloved band to the general public, I think it's safe to say we would list (the well known, in fact) hits such as: Rhiannon, SYLM, Dreams, GYOW, Don't Stop, YMLF, Sara, Tusk, Gypsy, etc.

Hold Me doesn't strike me or anyone else as a "stand out" hit above the rest....unless the author was trying to connect to a younger generation that might actually recognize the song.

That said, I would Love to hear Hold Me, but not at the expense of Gypsy.

MikeInNV 01-05-2013 10:33 PM

I love the part where the writer says Stevie is known for her floor-length hair. Umm, okay.

lol. She was raised Episcopalian and went to a catholic high school. Go figure Stevie leaks the set list on a catholic site well one song Hold Me which hasn't been done since 1982 live. I am catholic myself and I did a search engine for an article and this was not the article I was looking for,but this was like the first article to pop up. I just love the title to the article.I figure had to send post it here. This tour is a maybe for me unfortunately the show that is closest to me is one of the high priced shows but will see how money and ticket availabilty will be in a few weeks or as it gets closer to the show.

"We're not doing drugs and stuff like that ... You don't know what you'll do when you're not doing this."

WTF Does she mean by this? Sometimes I don't understand journalists at all. How can you end a piece with such a vague quote.

cantgoback 01-06-2013 12:09 PM

They need to do hits as well as other songs, either way, I'm excited to see them.

BLY 01-06-2013 12:22 PM

I have said this before...... Fleetwood Mac doesn't need to do anymore Buckingham/McVie songs. World Turning and Don't Stop work very well with Stevie. Add a Buckingham/Nicks set period. This is what we want.

StandbackStevie 01-06-2013 02:13 PM

I have to say I am cutting off my concert days it's to much money and to hear the same songs over and it doesn't matter to me what they sing anymore just not fun paying alot of money to a concert these days. I would be still touring till i croak at these prices and I don't blame them for touring and making more money than they ever did.and they are not the only one band or solo singers doing this. I will pass this tour this summer and watch a concert dvd when they play here probably live in boston. When come here in april. If they come around again and under $100 a ticket then I might go.To me anything over $100 bucks is way to much for any artist or legendary band.

Some of the tickets are only like $50ish at a lot of the venues. Though those would be terrible seats, of course.

yeah, just not Mohegan Sun. nothing below $100 at that venue. most other venues have $49 option.

It isn't what I want, particularly, or what the general concert-goer wants. When I last saw them the people behind me were exasperated that there weren't more "hits". I assume they referred not only to Christine's material but also to a lesser extent, as my brother suggested, a song like Seven Wonders or - only in the UK! - Oh Diane.

Yes exactly! some songs that were hits in the US/UK or vice versa were not even singles/hits in the opposite country.

I may stand corrected...but I think all the singles from TITN were considered hits in the UK, whereas 7W was just a minor hit in the US.

Oh Diane (and mb even 7W) was included in the GH 88 album in the UK, not here.

tothegypsy 01-06-2013 09:02 PM

According to Wikipedia, Seven Wonders hit #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, and only #56 on the UK Singles Chart.

Bye, It’s Over (Over and Over)

Fleetwood Mac and New Kids on the Block Show Up Again

By JON CARAMANICA, Published: February 22, 2013

It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday. No, honestly — it’s practically impossible, especially in an age of cyclical nostalgia and Internet-assisted memories. Old musical acts have always gone on comeback tours, but these days the disappearances are getting shorter and nostalgia is fully taking its place alongside discovery as a valid aesthetic-appreciation strategy. Why listen to the new bands that sound like the old bands when the old bands will be back before you know it?

New Kids on the Block are returning, again, just in time to glower at One Direction and the Wanted and to make a play for the parents of those groups’ fans. The New Kids have a new album, “10,” due out in April, but that violates one of the core rules of comebacks: Don’t dilute the memories. The group should know better. It’s been through a couple of comebacks already. To sweeten the New Kids’ forthcoming tour — menacingly called “The Package” — it will be joined by 98 Degrees, a boy band it clearly fathered, and Boyz II Men, a post-boy band that it predated but probably aspired to be. The three groups invade Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y., on June 1; the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J., on June 13; and the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 16.

Whatever intra-group conflicts the New Kids may have had to overcome in order to hit the road successfully and shake down long-loyal fans, they pale in comparison with what’s driven Fleetwood Mac to ruin time and again. Its reunion shows can be prickly affairs, depending on whether Stevie and Lindsey are on amenable terms or only barely able to share airspace. Every few years the band members huddle back up to test the waters and themselves; this time there’s a juicy deluxe edition of “Rumours” to flog. Feel the old tensions, and maybe some new ones, at Madison Square Garden on April 8; the Prudential Center in Newark on April 24; and the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, N.Y., on June 22

Fleetwood Mac and New Kids on the Block are both like party guests you see walk out the door and who then hide out in your garage, waiting to surprise you with their unexpected permanence. Swedish House Mafia, a cobbled-together supergroup of arena-dance heroes, is insisting on a different ending. The trio — Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso — is splitting after a few years of reshaping the scale of the global dance music takeover to return to their modest lives as individual dance-music superstars. “One Last Tour” this jaunt is called. It plays the Hammerstein Ballroom on Feb. 28 (a charity event called “The Black Tie Rave”); Madison Square Garden on March 1; and then three nights, March 2 to 4, at the Barclays Center. After that a few more dates in Los Angeles and Miami and then, they swear, the end. As if.

Agree 1000% And no, I'm not spending $50 for nosebleed seats either. I just can't have a good time knowing I spent that much money for a 2-21/2 hour show.

I'm sure they are making money, but have you checked the fuel prices lately?? Which drives everything else up... I'm not so sure they're gonna pocket much more than they ever have comparatively. Everyone's touring these days because, as its been pointed out, artists don't make much off music sales.

Not even if it helps (once again) bankrupt Mick?

(what he had . . . and what he lost . . . what he had . . . and what he lost--you know what he had!)

I believe we all have to protect our bottom line and do what is right for ourselves. If you can't have a good time spending the money, it's definitely not the right thing to do at this time. I do understand. And seriously, I suspect you'll get a chance to see some (if not ALL) of this tour on DVD or on line. It's inevitable. I'm hoping we'll see something with Christine in a permanent form.

Concerts are luxury items. It's okay to not go.
