Stevie on Kristen Stewart's Bad Press
Stevie Nicks defends KStew: ‘I was her age once’
Last Updated: 4:24 PM, December 4, 2012 Posted: 4:24 PM, December 4, 2012 New York Post http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/stev...ent=Page%20Six Kristen Stewart faced much backlash for cheating on her boyfriend Robert Pattinson with married director Rupert Sanders this past July, but Stevie Nicks thinks the actress deserves a break. “I was her age once, and exactly what happened to her happened to me two or three times, and whoever it was that I was with forgave me all two or three times," the Fleetwood Mac singer told Us Weekly. The legendary rock icon’s own romantic life was put under the magnifying lens in her youth – her complicated relationship with band mate Lindsey Buckingham inspired their hit 1977 album “Rumours.” Nicks, who is friends with the “Twilight” duo, continued to the magazine, "The fact is that when you're young and you've been in a relationship for a long time and something comes along that is a little bit overwhelming and magical, and you're kind of in another situation with someone else . . . Things happen." The 64-year-old thinks that critics should go easy on the 22-year-old starlet. "I really always want to say to people, 'People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.' It's not anything the rest of us haven't done." She thinks that if Rob and Kristen are strong enough, they can move past the scandal. "If what they have is that special they can overcome it, then good for [them]," she said. |
what happened to her happened to me two or three times. Gotta love her :xoxo:

It's funny to me that she was forgiven "all two or three times." I'm thinking the "all" covers three or more, rather than "two."

I do love her honesty though. |
 packing up, shacking up...
hmm, so maybe Lindsey didn't make that up just to make her angry. remember the BBC Don't Stop doc: how would she, nice prudish Stevie ever do anything like that? ;) |
Don't blame it on her, blame it on her Wild Heart - is the motto here.

NO STEVIE. NO WE HAVE NOT ALL CHEATED ON OUR LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS WITH SOMEONE WHO WAS MARIED BUT THANKS FOR CONTRIBUTING FURTHER TO THE MORAL DECLINE OF SOCIETY.
...wow, I've been a fan for decades, but I'm truly discusted by this. Funny it was okay for lindsey Logan to be blown out of the water for being messed up and Stevie was never all "cut her a break we've all done it" (which just for the record not everyone has done hard drugs either Stevie) I just hope she's not " praying to the commercial gods" to see What young current starlet to name check next. One of the things I always admired about Stevie is she didn't involve herself in all the Hollywood gossip. And just let the music speak for itself. Latley its like lets talk about Kanye. West and nicki manaj.. come on Stevie your above all this :(:distress::o |
Perhaps I have a more liberal view than most, but I fail to see how Stevie's statement could be taken with anything less than a grain of salt.
People seem to forget that so-called scandalous behavior has been going on longer than the past 10 years. Now we just have frothy-mouthed media camping out at celebrity doors eager to spread the news on the internet. Was it romantic that Spencer Tracy kept his mistress living in the guesthouse? How's it different? Because they were old? Or how about FDR dying with his mistress by his side rather than his wife? Were they contributing to the moral decline of our society? Or did they just have a better time at keeping secrets? Sorry, OT, but it irritates me when people expect Stevie to be some sort of moral compass. She's a rock star that I believe has a good heart. Nobody's perfect. If she were, her lyrics would be much less interesting. |
Look, I don't see how this is any surprise that she feels this way. Take a glance back at her public dating history....
The problem is that she is projecting her own experiences and qualities onto Kristen, and she is projecting her own opinions about it onto the general public. I am sure her message was meant to be: "every body makes mistakes, and she is just a kid, so if she and rob can work it out then good for them." But in true Stevie fashion, she romanticized it and like I said related it to her own choices which have been clouded by drugs and decades passed... It's not that big of a deal. Not to mention that I have rarely seen her name-check someone without first being asked about it. You know, except for Janis and Jimi |
“I was her age once, and exactly what happened to her happened to me two or three times, and whoever it was that I was with forgave me all two or three times," favorite Stevie quote in this article.

[Thought this had some funny comments]
'Rob should be prepared to forgive Kristen two or three more times': Stevie Nicks joins the debate 5 Dec 2012 13:03 Daily Mirror http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrit...e-over-1473880 Unfortunately nobody's actually debating the debate any more. But it's still always nice to hear what Stevie has to say We'd actually forgotten about the whole Kristen-licking-an-old-man's-face drama from the beginning of the summer. Half because we're too distracted by Taylor Swift licking a One Direction's boy face. And half just because we're nice people, and don't like to hold grudges / struggle to retain information over long periods of time. But while Kristen and Rob fly off on holiday for a few days of wearing their baseball caps backwards and looking unenthusiastically loved up, Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks has decided to give her two cents about the whole cheating scandal. Which is unnecessary nice. "I was her age once, and exactly what happened to her happened to me two or three times, and whoever it was that I was with forgave me all two or three times," said Stevie. "The fact is that when you're young and you've been in a relationship for a long time and something comes along that is a little bit overwhelming and magical, and you're kind of in another situation with someone else ... Things happen." Which is the kind of thing that Rob will just love to hear. Stevie added: "I really always want to say to people, 'People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.' It's not anything the rest of us haven't done. "If what they have is that special they can overcome it, then good for [them]." The comments aren't as completely random as they might sound though - Kristen and Stevie are actually mates. In the way that you're mates with somebody 42-years your senior. In other news, Fleetwood Mac are going on tour again in 2013, but probably aren't going to release a new album. Which means we're back to the drawing board regarding what to buy our dad for Christmas. |

As for name checking, it made me think about the interview she just did with the DJ from Detroit. He asked her if she liked the city of Detroit and she said yes because Kid Rick was her adopted love child and she loved what he was doing for the Detroit community.
So she doesn't know much about the Motor City but she knows all about Kid Rock. Michele |
^^^
I was wishing she wouldn't be spreading the love for conservative celebrities like Kid Rock, was my thought when she was going on about him. |

Lindsey Buckingham will say that it's good the press wasn't bad then, putting you as much under a microscope as it does not, with TMZ sitting outside of your house and following you everywhere. I do wonder what it would have been like for FM if that were the case 30 years ago. As it was, fans would go to concerts and if a performer was high at a concert fans would report it, maybe circulate the audio, but no one knows what the celebrities did in their private lives. If they got arrested and there was a police report (like John), then it would make it into the papers. But otherwise they could do what they wanted out of the spotlight. There was no photographer there every time they stepped outside without their panties! Michele |

as for this whole twilight thing. how weird was that comment about her being "friends" with them lol  goodness! |

Cheating seems like such a strange thing to defend. It happens, but it always hurts someone, sometimes many someones, especially when the couple have children. It's a topic you would think people would want to keep their nose out of, not feel the need to add their two cents publically. What a weird thing for Stevie to make comments about. Stevie can act like "it's all good" but look at the emotional state her love life has put her in throughout her life. She lived the rock n roll life and thought nothing of drinking, doing drugs, partying, and cheating, but she was miserable a lot of the time too. I never bought her act of still being such great friends with her ex's. Maybe now, because it's been so many years, but I think she tried to cling on to having the "friendship" back then to save face and try and make herself really believe it didn't hurt. She was not always the one doing the cheating, she was often cheated on by her lovers, including married men who then dropped her after they had fun with their little fantasy and then went back to their wives and kids. She'd have to be dead inside for none of that to never have hurt her. And she was not always the one doing the dumping, she was often the one being dumped. She can act like it's so magical, a fairy tale, and was all worth it, but she is the one maybe who shouldn't throw stones. Acting like cheating and affairs and dating married men is all good and fine, and doesn't hurt any0ne, and that everyone does it. Let her steal your husband away and see how much you are still thinking it's just dandy. I love her music and I love her as a celebrity, but I never have enjoyed hearing about all her love issues, from sleeping with married men to pregnancy issues, and so forth. It all just wreaks of saddness to me. She is definitely that stereotypical rock and roll star. She gave the men a run for their money. And I love that very fun, amazingly musical, talented rock and roll star. But I don't have to like everything about her life and the way she chooses to live it. Affairs happen, fine, she can make that case, but to act like it isn't hard on a relationship is crazy. It never worked out well for her in the end. And to repeat the behavior even after being burned, that is not exactly decent. And for her to not once think about the woman she hurt, the wife. That's one hard soul. Not exactly Stevie-esque, is it? But yet, I guess it was. You could look at her in a lot of different ways, none of which are very pleasant, about a woman who could have any many she wanted, but often goes for the taken ones. Afraid of commitment? Or who likes the feeling of the challenge, the seduction, the feeling of winning when she steals the man away from his wife? Or narcissistic? Or having to prove she can truly have any man? Or maybe a poor self-image and having to make herself feel better? Or no, maybe just an ego boost? A high, a drug in itself? Whichever the reason, none are very happy or pleasant. Between her appreciation of taken men and the drugs, to me that seems more than just the life of a rock star. It seems like it is screams, "ISSUES!" to me. It made me feel bad for her years ago and wish she'd find some happiness. I figured by now, she has. But these comments seem like denial to me. She still only lets herself look at the little moment of fantasy and she blocks out the pain that also was a part of those affairs, the full reality. So once again I feel a bit sad for her. She had to face the truth about her addiction, and publically. She couldn't fairy-tale her way out of that one, although she has put the Stevie spin on it. But seems like there is still pain in her life that she does let long clouds of white cloud her memory. :( But it's funny sounding to me, for her to be giving her opinion or advice to young celebrities about such a topic. "Ya, do your thing and then they can forgive you afterwards." What she fails to mention in her advice is that if it starts to hurt, they can turn to drugs. Numb yourself if it gets too intense, kiddies. It's all good. :( I think it's sad. |

When it comes to relationships, Stevie is the *last* person on Earth who should be dispensing advice. Her longest steady relationship was, what, 6-7 years at the earliest part of her adult life? Rife with drugs and affairs? And afterwards, has she managed to *really* be with anyone for a signifigant period of time, in a functional, stable, selfless, faithful partnership? No. I love the woman to death, really, I do - her music - her lyrics - her artistry has been one of the cornerstones of my life. I am who I am in large part because of the way her songs have helped shape me and helped shape my view of the world. But let's be honest - she knows nothing about true, selfless, sacrificing love other than what she's seen romanticized in movies or read in books. Stevie has never put anything first in her life other than Stevie. Relationship-wise, Stevie is still a kid - a selfish teenager at worst and a spoiled princess with no real-world experience at best. Her perspective on what a faithful, loving, honest, selfless partnership means is about the same as mine was when I was 19. |
It's no secret that Stevie's had her share of affairs and disastrous romances... but I really don't think it's fair to assume anything about her capacity for loving others and her relational maturity based on that alone. We don't know anything about her relationships, really, aside from the fact that none of them lasted in the long run.
Now, I tend to think Stevie still does have a very "girlish" mindset in terms of romance (but again, this is just my perception, and it could be false), and I personally find it very likely she was 'shackin' up' at times throughout her serious relationships (and she's talked about it before, hasn't she, about leaving Lindsey for a while to be with some other guy but then going back to him?), but I don't think that you can say that she was never selfless or sacrificial in her relationships. How on earth would we know. |

"Long characterised as an away-with-the-fairies fruitcake, Nicks strikes me as having a core of steel, no matter her languor or penchant for woolly soliloquy. By her own admission the only member of the band who could rival Fleetwood — with whom she had an affair — for hedonism, she long ago conquered her drug addiction, then endured a lengthy and briefly life-threatening dependency on the tranquillisers she had been prescribed to wean her off cocaine. These days, she appears to be physically somewhat fragile, but the mischievous candour remains. She tells me she finally went to see a psychologist “about five years ago, a really sweet little lady, and we were just talking about my life, and I was telling her about those years, when Lindsey and I first moved to LA, and I was a waitress, a cleaning lady, and anything else I could do to pay our rent, and I said to her, ‘But there was something about those years that I really loved.’ And she said, ‘Well, in many ways, Stevie, the day you joined Fleetwood Mac was the saddest day of your life — because it was the day you stopped being the caretaker.’ You can imagine, there was a real big silence in the room when she said that”. Her past and the choices she made certainly haunt her to some extent. It might not be such a stretch to suggest it could explain why she fusses and manages her dogs so much--they seem exquisitely well trained. Stevie does the training herself--she has said, and she is their caretaker as much as possible. Stevie does have a bit of insight into herself, and it's good that she has actually sought help in dealing with her emotions and stressors. (I think it's great that she reveals she has seen a psychologist during her interview.) I'm not sure why Stevie felt the need to "reach out" to the Moonlight stars. Perhaps she is suggesting that they hang tight and not dump relationship after relationship which was so much of her past. Is Stevie promoting Rev. Al Stewart" philosophy for them to "stay together"? "Dear Abby" Nicks. Stevie re-worked/wrote a song about their movie, a film that significantly got her creative writing juices flowing again, Stevie experienced a "transference"/a personal connection to these actors as well as the characters in the film. |

Look, I know I'm dabbling in moral relativism here. I wouldn't encourage anyone in a relationship to be dishonest with their partner. And I find it sad that Stevie hasn't had a lasting, healthy relationship in a long time (or ever) (that we are aware of). I just think something along the lines of "let those without sin cast the first stone." I'm just so thankful the paparazzi wasn't in the 70s what it is today. TMZ would've had a field day with the likes of Stevie and Lindsey. :p |

ON ANOTHER NOTE.... I was talking to a girl I work with about this because she loves twilight too, and she sincerely said "no Rob And Kristen. Have GOT. To stay together no matter what, if they broke up for good it would be like BELLA AND EDWARD BROKE UP" ......THEN IT CLICKED. That is probably how Stevie sees it (subconsciously even) and that's why Kristen's bad behavior can be defended and not nicki manajs crazy behavior or lindsey Logan's crazy behavior ect. Those people are not associated with CHARACTERS that Stevie associates with "Stevie & lindsey ". Oh and by the way...the girl who didn't want "Bella and Edward " to break up is only 19. |
