Presale Ticket Discussion

Hi all. I'm going to get tickets for the San Jose show and I just saw that there is an Amex only presale starting this Friday. I don't have an Amex card but my dad will let me use his. Can someone use another person's card? We do have the same last name. Can I register it beforehand on my ticketmaster page with a name that isn't mine? Also, other than the obvious information (name, billing address, card number), is there anything else I need to know? If any of you have any experience and/or first hand knowledge and can share it with me, that would be great.

Second, there are 3 tiers of ticket prices: 46.50, 59.50, and 146.50. That seems like a huge jump. Does anyone know if that last price is for all the floor seats? Or is that like a meet and greet? (I'm assuming that it's the price for floor seats, yikes!)

Finally, does anyone know if there is a way to know whether the presale tickets will actually be close? Often I've gotten better seats by getting tickets through the regular on sale instead of the presale. Is there a way to know which tickets the presale will sell or do you just have to get on at the sale time and see?

Thanks in advance for any help. Wow, Fleetwood Mac in a few months (well, 6). Very cool :)

Kevin

WildHearted 12-04-2012 05:06 PM

I would assume that's floor seats.

If I were you, I'd get on at the presale and see what you can get. If you can't get anything that suits you, then maybe wait until later when general tickets go on sale

michelej1 12-04-2012 05:31 PM

You can use someone else's credit card, but you will have to put in his billing information. Michele

Angel69 12-04-2012 05:37 PM

What Michele said. Also if you use your Dad's card, do not use "will call" to pick up your tix. He would have to be there in person with the credit card and drivers license for pick up at the venue.

mutato 12-04-2012 05:47 PM

I bought tickets through an Amex sale with a friend's card. You have to have their billing information and if you are having the tickets shipped you have to use their mailing address. I was not able to have them mailed to a different address than the billing.

mutato 12-04-2012 05:54 PM

Looks like not all dates have AARP and Amex presales. I'm looking for the 4/20 date in CT and it's not listed on Amex's presale list.. http://www.ticketmaster.com/american...93#colMainWrap

Anyone else able to find the CT's show presale info?

That might be good though. Means we have a chance to get good seats. I know Foxwoods holds certain floor sections that can only be purchased through their box office and not ticketmaster, I wonder if Mohegan is the same way. Might be worth a call before the 17th.

Mohegan holds sec 1-5 for players! Good luck!

Is there anything special you have to do to use the AmerEx card? This is my first time using it!

Does anyone know the difference between AMEX preferred seating and AMEX cardmember presale? Both of which start Dec. 10 for Philly.

Eugene 12-06-2012 07:24 PM

So many questions!

AMEX preferred requires use of a password-8004923344, which is the GOLD card customer service phone number. The regular AMEX presale doesn't require a password. Both require an AMEX card as payment. Most of the time, no seats worth buying are found in a presale, but you may experience otherwise. There is usually no difference in seat selection between the AMEX options.

If you want to use a friend's card, you can use YOUR email address to get etickets even though you have to use their billing information.

The top price of $146.50 will get you a floor seat or a close to the stage lower level. There are no other options, right Elle? ;)

Thanks! Has everyone else had similar experiences with presales? I've actually never tried getting tickets during a presale. That might be a good thing if it's true, realized I won't be around so much this Monday to fight for tickets lol.

pattyfan 12-07-2012 09:13 AM

Hi, Kevin here. I posted the original question. So thanks to everyone for sharing your ideas. :)

I have had very mixed results with pre sales. Sometimes I've had good results and other times I haven't, and for those concerts I just waited for the regular public on sales to get tickets. I think for this show if there is anything on the floor I'll get them and if they aren't really good, I"ll go back and try again next Friday. :)

Good luck with tickets, everyone. !

i know nothing about FM ticket sales Eugene, and i hate all this i have to say. i did ask VIP Nation on FB, and they said that FM will not be using their services for this tour.

Preferred seating is slightly better than the regular AMEX sale.
Use the customer service number on the back of the AMEX card (leaving off the 1 before the 800 and the dashes) and that's your secret "password."

I did go on for Washington, DC (out of curiosity) and ... not great. Mid-floor only, so far. Nothing in the first...30 rows.

The last AMEX presales (I think for Stevie and Lindsey's solo stuff) was really good. Hard to look at over $170 for crappy seats.

But, with the last tour (sorry, I'm long-winded again), I found that persistence and timing were the most important things-don't settle. Just keep trying. As the date gets closer, they offer better stuff.

The password is usually your Amex customer service number, depending on which card they are telling you to use. If they say its for Gold Card members you need the gold card customer service number. Platinum card holders have their own number. And so on.

I got on line right at 10 and tried to get tickets via both the Amex and Amex preferred presales. The preferred tickets were better, but none were on the floor, so I didn't get anything. I"ll get my tickets during the regular sale. :)

Kevin

Macfanforever 12-07-2012 04:42 PM

I think this is BS for the fans who don't have these cards.
I not going to signup for Ticketbastards and DeadNations deals with AMEX and CitiBank cards.

What in the hell is wrong with VISA and MasterCard.

a friend of mine and i both tried and that's the best that we both could get too. both regular amex and preferred seating amex. sections 4, 5, or 6, rows F or H was the best we pulled. which is about 30 rows back, but it is floor.

Honestly. At that point, that many rows back, if you can't get up to the stage, I don't know if it's such a good thing to be on the floor. It might be better to be in one of the raised areas.

WildHearted 12-08-2012 09:54 AM

They just listed that the Atlanta show will have an AMEX presale on the 10th @ 10 AM.

I don't have an american express card, so I won't be able to take advantage of that - do they usually put up the good seats for those?

Regina 12-08-2012 10:34 AM

Either during Unleashed or SYW...Amex was having a "preferred seating" thing the same time the regular tickets were on sale. I did both, out of curiosity. Both were the same--and both were lousy. On the other hand, surprisingly, again--I can't remember which but I'm thinking it may have been both Lindsey and Stevie's tours--where they had an AMEX pre-sale and the seats were great. And, now that I think of it, it may have been Lindsey.
It's hit and miss but with FM--they like playing games with these sales and try to sell junk before the good stuff. And, if you look on Stub Hub for FM--Madison Square Garden is already on sale. The presale is only supposed to begin on 12/10. Yesterday, there were 155 tickets--some over $1000 each. Give me a break.
There is a big stink over the Garden and the Sandy Hurricane concert and how many tickets are on the broker's sites (some over $50,000 per ticket...WHAT?????) All purchased "legitimately" through ticketmaster? Not by a long shot (IMO). I think MSG is completely shady and I'm sure other venues are as well. But, with MSG--I've been able to get front row (I believe 3 times) at nearly the last minute (1 week or less prior to the show).

WildHearted 12-08-2012 05:39 PM

So do you think it's worth it to try and find a family member with an AMEX card to try to do the presale, or to just wait until the other presales / regular sale?

Hmm, yeah I've never been to the Garden for a concert, but this is making me even more weary than I was to begin with. May just stick with Philadelphia.

Lauren 12-10-2012 02:25 PM

hey all- FYI our presale in CO was today and there were no floor seats

I got a seat one level up but I called after also and was told the floor seats were 1. being held back by the group for family/friends and 2. the rest would be onsale for the PUBLIC onsale

so there are no benefits to a presale IMO

I will try again next Monday to get a better seat and see if I can change mine out.

Prices for Dallas tickets on Stub Hub

Floor 11
Row S | Qty 2
$961.00

Floor 11
Row T | Qty 2
$961.00

Floor 11
Row N | Qty 2
$970.00

Floor 11
Row Q | Qty 2
$970.00

Floor 11
Row P | Qty 2
$978.00

Floor 11
Row M | Qty 2
$978.00

These prices are ridiculous (not even front row!), but it's the regular price of $149 that will be keeping me from seeing FM on this tour. :(

Same for Chicago..really disappointed that there are no real perks for presale buyers. Only the back half of floor seats were available. Which almost garauntee no view since there's no slope to the floor..also the maximum ticket price which should be exclusive for front floor tickets, were being offered for 100-200 level seats as well. More disappointment IMHO.

Hoping general sale on the 17th gets me good floor seats!

Anyone who is dumb enough to pay those prices, either has no sense, or too much money. In the case of the latter, they should send it all to me.

I tried the Anaheim CA presale today. Got nothing but junk and then pulled row 10, center section, floor. Threw them back cuz I want row 7 or less, center, and I'm sticking to that. I'll play Tickebastards waiting game. BALLS OF STEEL!!

Macfanforever 12-10-2012 03:24 PM

I hate these tour and Ticketbastard -DeadNation tie-ins with credit card companies. Its unfair.Corrupt.

That is ridiculous. So we don't get front row seats because of people who see them all the time.

I'm just curious - when you try on the 17th when the public onsale starts, do you just try to get online as soon as possible (10am or whatever it is for Chicago) and do Best Available and just try your luck? Just wondering if there's a trick to it or anything...
