Question

There is this new posting of a Wild Heart performance that has incredible sound. It doesn't look like it's available to purchase though. Does anyone know a program to capture the audio of this show? I would love to get a copy of this. Thanks!

If you just want to capture audio/video playback I personally use iShowU, which is mainly for video, but you can capture your application (ie. the web) audio @ 48k PCM

What makes this show more unique than any other WH show, was that Enchanted was performed only at this show(that I'm aware of) on that entire tour.

No problem.I love Dolly.she is one of the country singers that got me started listening to country music back in the 1970's.I seen her live on that 1977 tour about the same week of that live show that wolfgangsvault has posted.

Stevie is a Dolly fan.I would love to hear Stevie cover some of Dolly's tunes.

I adore Dolly! I know Stevie used to like Dolly and Dolly likes Stevie.... if they worked together on something I might spontaneously combust.

rhiannondontgo 09-07-2012 05:32 PM

Dolly has said of Stevie: "While I am nowhere near the writer or singer that Stevie is, I still feel very connected to her because of the fact that we both do write, sing and perform. We're both blonde, short and have to watch our weight because we love to eat! We can't do anything just a little. We both have to do it full out. She's my fantasy friend that I'd love to spend time with, maybe write some songs and record them with her. Well, I can dream, can't I?"
Always thought that was sweet!

(:sorry: I got us off topic!)

I never thought of Stevie as being one of those people who likes to eat. I mean, I don't think she starves herself and she certainly visits enough steak joints, but she doesn't strike me over someone who salivates over a fine meal.

that's great to hear from Dolly. I remember hearing an interview that Stevie did where she really wanted Dolly to record After the Glitter Fades and even sent her the song, but never heard anything back. I would love to see them do something together.

Uh... really Dolly? She only wrote the most commercially successful song in the history of music.

That would be great if Dolly recorded After the Glitter Fades. It would of been a hit.

Whitney clean the music charts with her version of Dolly's "I will always love you"

The Dixie Chicks got Stevie's Landslide to the top of the charts 10 years ago.

mikephxaz 09-08-2012 10:52 AM

I've never heard that Dolly has ever mentioned Stevie's name...interesting...I like the idea of a Dolly cover of After the Glitter Fades. I remember in the 80ties Boy George was asked his two favorite singers...Dolly & Stevie:thumbsup:

Yes, but in the great scheme of things, if we compare their output, I'd agree with Dolly. Although, I am humming Two Doors Down in my head right now.

Michele

rhiannondontgo 09-08-2012 06:43 PM

Agreed Michele. Dolly writes very simply and fairly literally. Beautiful songs, but nothing compared to what Stevie does. That's coming from a major Dolly freak by the way.
My mom has been obsessed with Stevie since before I was born, and Dolly was my childhood idol. So we've had many a discussion about these two over dinner. I maintain that Stevie's one of the greatest female songwriters of all time. The woman's a poet! :)

WildHearted 09-09-2012 01:30 PM

I don't know. They write so differently it's hard to compare them. Dolly has such a massive amount of output, too..

michelej1 09-09-2012 03:03 PM

Also, I will say with Dolly that to the extent that her songs have depth, her high voice doesn't exactly do them justice. She sings shrill and fast, so that any sentiment the song might leave flies away on airy wings for me.

I think Dolly's songs, when she sings them, are mostly fun, but not deep. Now with Reba McEntire, I don't think her songs necessarily have more substance than Dolly's, but just the timbre of her voice makes me think about the words more. Heck, I think about Fancy and compared her to Theodore Dreiser's Sister Carrie in my head. I don't think Dolly singing the same song would have sparked such pathos.

There are exceptions, but I don't think her lyrics can match Stevie's overall, but I don't think her voice would do them justice, if they did. Of course, she's lucky that other people sing her songs as well.

Uh... that's Loretta Lynn's much younger and much less talented sister. Still... she still has that amazing hair after all these years!

Yeah, I started thinking about Coal Miner's Daughter and realized that.
