Meet And Greet in Franklin

Just wondering if anyone has any info about the meet and greet in Franklin.
Is it before or after the show? Theater page says before, but we are suppose to receive info the week of show.

playon81 07-25-2012 06:21 AM

I am wondering the same thing. Hopefully, we will hear something soon. I am completely ecstatic!!! :]

Lindsfan 07-25-2012 11:34 AM

Onbiously if you haven't heard from the venue by now you should give them a call - soon. The ones i went to were both after the concert. I don't believe he's done any pre-concert at all.

You both are going to have a great time I'm sure :blob1: Please report back and tell us how the concert was - and what you talked about!

playon81 07-25-2012 12:12 PM

I was trying to avoid calling, but I did. The box office representative didn't know. He is going to call back. When I obtain an answer, I shall let you know!

Thank you! I thought that the fact that the site said BEFORE was a little strange... but then I figured that maybe Linds just wanted to get a early start to Atlanta. I'm hoping it's after though. Meeting him after seeing him put on a show made me so much more awestruck and excited!

playon81 07-25-2012 05:29 PM

Yes, it will be after the show. The venue called back, then sent an email confirmation. I can't wait! :)

I don't want to sound like a freak or stalker, but I have waited six years to give him a CD! Needless to say, fifteen to meet the man. I have given Wally, Neale, and some guys from the road crew a CD at each show. Now, I can give Mr. Buckingham himself one!!! :]

Ryan, which songs did you put on there? Is it a mix of Lindsey covers and your originals? I hope you included Rock Away Blind

Actually, it is a four track cd of all original material. I think that will be plenty, since demos mainly consist of only two or three songs.

I gave Neale Heywood a Lindsey homage cd during "Under the Skin." I was thinking about making a DVD with "Rock Away Blind" on there, since I do not have any other Youtube videos left on my computer to convert to DVD. I would love for him to see my homage videos!

As for the audio, my studio crashed so I do not have any Lindsey covers on cd. :(

you need to give him your RAB version too!! (and tell him to better start doing it that way :p)

That's a shame not having the covers on CD :distress: I do hope Neale shared the one you gave him with Lindsey as I'm sure he'd be flattered  Maybe I imagined it, but didn't his Youtube channel actually subscrinbe to you at one time ( maybe still does ). Granted, he doesn't seem to be too personally involved with his own social media, but who knows  Maybe he's aware of you. I think that's great though, that you're giving him your original stuff. Good luck!! I can't wait to hear how it goes!

I know, since my studio recently crashed! I did see Neale again in Asheville, NC and he mentioned the cd to me, without my asking. He said he let Lindsey hear a little. Who knows??? I hope he is aware!

I used to have a demo with Lindsey's covers: Say Goodbye, Red Rover, Never Going Back Again, and Big Love (I think). Since I can't stand hearing myself, I must have given it to someone...

I think he may appreciate originals, since he is deeply into the creative process. I am going to include my Youtube link, just in case...:D

oh i think you definitely need to give him your originals, no question about that. also think Lisa Dewey - you never know! :)

we are just selfish in wanting him to also hear your version of RAB.

That is true, you don't! :D I can dream!

 Thank you very much! I am glad you enjoy my version! If I had the audio, I would have included it on the cd. "Oh Well!"

shackin'up 07-26-2012 04:51 PM

I think it's good to give him original material, Ryan. I bet he's aware of your awesome tributes/covers. Take a chance, and inspire him with your own compositions!

sodascouts 07-26-2012 05:53 PM

I thought there were legal issues that made artists wary of accepting unsolicited original material.... Potential lawsuits from people claiming the artist took their idea and didn't give them credit. Didn't that happen to Stevie, in fact?

I guess it doesn't hurt to try.... Do you want him to record your songs or something?

Yes, I would love to have the transcript from the deposition Stevie gave.

Lindsey has taken tapes from people in the past and assured them he would listen, although I don't think it's advisable on his part.

To everyone going to the show tonight, "HAVE FUN!" I'd be there if only i didn't have to work. :(

sodascouts 07-27-2012 06:18 PM

I might ask Lindsey why he pretends that he is singing "place to fade" instead of "twist of fate" on the Gift of Screws album. That has always been inexplicable to me. However, I'm worried he might take it as a criticism.

i'd ask him if i were you... but maybe as a second question:laugh::wavey:

(btw i just made a shirt with LB song lyrics and put "twist of fate" on it. i intend to wear it to one of his upcoming shows.)

Well, yeah, if you put it like that he might. Instead of asking him why he pretends, why don't you just ask him why he changed the name

sodascouts 07-27-2012 06:49 PM

Yeah, I would phrase it differently. I am a tactful person.

What's so unusual about the situation is not that he changed the name. That's quite common. The uncommon part is that he is still singing the lyrics "twist of fate" in the song, but on the lyric sheet it is written as "place to fade." the question is - if he liked that lyric better, why not just redo the vocal and actually sing that lyric? It makes no sense! This is why I'm so curious.

i think he just likes double meanings / things that can be or sound both this and that ;) - but if you do ask him we may find out tonight! (or more probable, he'll just evade it lol).

I'm sure you'll figure out a way to ask him, and hopefully get a good conversation out of it  ..and of course share his response with us!

Or you'll forget completely what you were going to say and instead just blurt out how wonderful and talented, etc., etc., he is :D

I have one that says "Fate Takes Time" and another that says, "Show Us How."

Lindsey said to me, "I like your shirt" once from the stage, but he was responding to the picture on it. I don't think he could read what it said. The picture was of him from the back. I usually only want my t-shirts to show him from the back.

I have a third one too, but I don't remember what it says. It may be GOS related.

the same shirt that said "show us how"?

i like just letters, no pics of people. love the official brown GOS t-shirt from 2008 and it always elicits [confused] reactions . i have few more of official LB t-shirts but don't like them that much - so had to resort to making my own. (just emailed you some samples)

sodascouts 07-28-2012 04:56 PM

So, turns out that despite my best efforts and the fact that I'd already met Lindsey briefly a couple times several years ago... I did indeed geek out, gush, and basically look like an idiot. Oh well. I tried to ask the "twist of fate" question but it came out rather incoherently and got no response except a "uh... I don't think I'm going to say anything about that right now." I won't go into detail regarding all the gushing I did because it was your typical "thank you so much for coming out here... you're just brilliant" blahblahblah. I kept rambling on until he finally said "OK, we need to pick up the pace here..." Oh gosh, when he said that, I was mortified! I cringe thinking about it! I am so uncool.

The thing was actually very poorly set up. The venue staff seemed pretty clueless about how to handle a meet'n'greet. We all lined up in a hallway and Lindsey basically came down the hall and talked to people in line, a couple at a time. He didn't even have a pen to sign things at first (we were the first in line) and you had to grab the guy with Lindsey and ask him to take a photo of you and LB together - he didn't volunteer, although he kindly agreed to take a photo if asked. I actually was so flustered I forgot to ask and if my friends hadn't reminded me, I would be without a photo right now and kicking myself VERY HARD and VERY OFTEN.

Lindsey, meanwhile, seemed to be impatient to get it over with and go hang out with Walter Egan. There were 20 of us so perhaps he was thinking "Ugh, this will probably take at least a half hour." I don't mean to imply he doesn't appreciate his fans - he did make small talk with everyone individually in addition to autographs and photos, so it wasn't as if fans were shortchanged.

No matter what, I just love the fact that he is willing to do these at all and give fans a chance to talk to him (most don't embarrass themselves like I did). I also am very excited to now have a personalized BN album and Under the Skin CD - he even drew a little heart on the latter. Last but not least, I got a hug! No kiss, but hey, I can't complain. If I had just been able to stop rambling and move on without having to be told to do so... ah well.

BTW, about "Rock Away Blind" - I heard him saying to Jessica, the girl who used to run his official website, that he won't do the song unless he's specifically asked to do so during the concert. Take note, future concertgoers!

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

thanks so much for sharing!! sounds like the first m&g of the leg is always a bit unorganized - or maybe it just really depends on the venue staff. plus Nashville is a place where so many other musicians or people he actually knows want to see him too, as you said. and hey, i've rambled on and have been told that my few mins were up several times... and i'm sure he's very used to people being starstruck and flustered around him!

GoldDustGypsy 07-28-2012 05:28 PM

I pretty much just gushed and stuttered the whole time. Told him useless things I'm sure he didnt care about. I look back at it with embarrassment. He was polite and perfect as always though- I was so much more nervous this time around than I was in Columbus. I was freaking out. Ugh. I hope I get to meet him at least once more to redeem myself

I'm so sorry :( to be laughing at your situation, but this whole thing made me smile and I just couldn't stop laughing. Only because I totally get how you feel, and like Elle said, he probably gets that a lot :)

The heart on the CD sounds cool  and I'm glad it was a good experience for the most part, at least

Interesting about RAB...good detective work!! And I hope someone follows up on your question now that you've uh, laid the ground work

I am too. You'll still think about it years from now, but take comfort in the fact that no one else will . What leaves an indelible impression on us, doesn't even get noticed by others.

Glad your friends helped you remember to get a pic. Great story.

No, that one just had his hands on a guitar.

I have 3 t-shirts with his back. One is him sitting at a console. The other is him in his rain room and the other one is the one attached.

I remember once there was some contest for FM t-shirts or posters or something and some of the creations that fans came up with were 100x better than the ones the band actually uses.

Don't feel bad, Nancy. For someone who comes off pretty socially awkward himself, it would have been nice to show you some compassion, but oh well.

His insensitive comment makes him look like a jerk :p not you. :xoxo:

No, he wasn't a jerk! It was an awkward interaction, ahem, but he was nice - remember I got my stuff signed and a hug.
