Nashville Scene
http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashvi...nt?oid=2933732 Rod Stewart & Stevie Nicks Rod Stewart & Stevie Nicks at Bridgestone When: Tue., July 24, 7:30 p.m. Price: $52-$152 The main reason for seeing this show is to decide which of the two is more physically stunning at their age — Stewart, with his dyed-blond tips, tight pants and leopard-print blazer, or Nicks, with her many golden scarves, long, flowing blond hair and snug black witch dress. Either each has signed a deal with the devil for eternal youth, or there’s animatronics or science fiction involved in keeping them both in shape and on stage. Maybe some night in the middle of “D’Ya Think I’m Sexy?” Stewart’s stomach is going open up all Total Recall style and an alien baby will pop out, or Nicks will start shorting out like a Stepford Wife during a rousing performance of “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” Whatever the case, at $50-plus ticket prices, let’s hope there’s nothing robotic about this evening’s performance. — Amanda Haggard |
I hope you guys are having fun tonight.I just finished listening to the Tuesday night Grand Ole Opry on the radio.

Stevie's voice was obviously bothering her. She cried before Landslide and apologized. I thought she did awesome despite a few notes that she actually pulled off by going lower.
No duets with Rod. |

is she crying because she's upset about voice issues or....? Maybe she's not thrilled to be doing the tour??
|
This upsets me. I hope everything is ok .... I could definitely tell the night her voice started to bother her- Virginia Beach. Right before Eo17 I had a perfect view of her face when she was looking at Waddy and I thought she was going to burst into tears. It was heart breaking... even though she did AMAZING I could tell that something wasn't right.
|
No Duets again? huh? When I saw what was supposed to be the 2nd night of Heart/Soul last year in Tampa there was no duets also, but I think they did them the remainder of the dates.
I hope Stevie is well. I'm thinking possibly there has been some friction between her and Rod? Maybe just doesn't feel well? IDK, but I guess it is disappointing to the fans expecting a duet or two. At any rate I hope everything works out for the best. |

A few other things: She mentioned how she got real nervous about "4:30" in only a few cities and Nashville was definitely one of them. She talked about her grandfather playing country music and if he would have lived long enough to see her play there he would have said "Well, honey I think you've made it." She looks great, lost weight or it's the new clothes. Very flattering to her figure. Not crazy about the new sleeves. She looked a little tired, but came out on "go". When she composed herself to sing Landslide, she said it's the song that has stayed with her all these years and dedicated it to all the songwriters who wonder if a song they write might be 'the one', she said something like keep writing because it just might be, "This is Landslide". The opening music was "Nashville Cats" by Lovin' Spoonful. Nice touch! Overall, Stevie's set & stage show impressed me more than it did last year with Rod. The screen stuff is much better, but I missed her in his set. I enjoyed seeing her interact with him and his backup girls. It was fun. Stevie's show is a little dark, Rod's is upbeat. It's nice to see her having fun. As it was tonight, Rod did not introduce her and neither of them made mention of the other. It was just two separate shows, really - with different fans. At the bow, she mentioned Bob Welch: "I would also like to say one last thing. In the family and band of Fleetwood Mac, we are very sorry we lost Bob Welch who was from here and he was one of the great guitar players in my band, so I would like to say Bob, wherever you are -I know you're in a better place. So, thank you everybody. God bless you." |
Dee, thank you for your descriptive review.
|
With all of the voice problems she's been having with singing lately, Stevie might want to take a break from touring and become one of the new American Idol judges for Season 12.
|
So what is the set list for this time around with Rod? Did I miss it in another thread?
Thanks! |
Set list:
Rock and Roll Secret Love Gold Dust Woman Stand Back Soldier’s Angel Rhiannon For What It’s Worth Edge of Seventeen ENCORE: Landslide Also, I noticed Rod kept Young Turks, but dropped the last encore song Shake Your Moneymaker. (Note: I could have been content going the rest of my life without seeing the shots of him in drag which he blamed on his wife who is reading 50 Shades of Gray. Nice legs though!) |

She DID perform "Dreams", and "Enchanted" was also performed, after "Rock And Roll".

Sorry copied from another page and was using my phone.
Here's the revised set list. I think this is the correct song order. Set list: Rock and Roll Enchanted Secret Love Dreams Gold Dust Woman Stand Back Soldier’s Angel Rhiannon For What It’s Worth Edge of Seventeen ENCORE: Landslide ***** I just want to say, I'm glad I went. It was a great show, always great to see Stevie. But, it was very difficult to watch her get so upset. I think she had already mentioned at the end of Edge that she was so thankful to everyone and sorry about her voice. So, the crowd had already given her a big hand for that and then she came back out for Landslide and everyone was really cheering for her and she just put her face in her hands and sort of shook them at the crowd with her head down, then she turned around for several seconds, turned back around and tried to compose herself and addressed the issue again before dedicating Landslide to the songwriters. It was sort of sad and depressing. For those aren't on fb, here's an after show pic with Billy Burnette, his son and Walter Egan in the background: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...49648284_n.jpg |
I was at the Nashville show last night! I had a fun time besides the incredibly drunk girl seated next to me! Whew!
It was def 2 seperate concerts. When Stevie sang Enchanted a lady tried to tell me it was off of her new album....EXCUSE ME....don't worry I corrected her! She was obviously there for Rod! Glad someone posted about no Stevie/Rod duets. I was wondering if it was just me or did I miss something while buying merchandise. Stevie did say her voice was bothering her and was very personable with the crowd! Some of the screen background effects were quite trippy! I had a great time and got to rock~a~little! |

Thanks CADreaming for sharing the vids. Almost the whole show.I felt like I was there in Nashville .
The Tee's and stuff. As I was at 5 shows on this tour .Lets see if my memory is right. The tee's were $40 for regular size up to XL . XXL was $45 .the magnet was $5 her IYD cd was $17.The Hoodie I think it was $60 which is average for a hoodie .there were other tee's for about $25 to $30.I forgot what the cap cost.Maybe $15 .Please correct me If wrong. |
Yeah CADreaming the merchandise is generally rediculously priced. I got a steal with a t-shirt for $40 bucks. lol
Selling Stevie's IYD cd was a smart idea, but priced at $15 when you can go just about anywhere and get it cheaper is just crazy! |
American Songwriter
http://www.americansongwriter.com/20...-in-nashville/ By Evan Schlansky July 25th, 2012 at 5:27 pm Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart did not duet during their double bill last night, as they’ve done frequently on their joint Heart and Soul tour. Nick’s voice was bothering her, she said, which was probably the reason why (unless they’re sick of each other by now). Still, they made the perfect pair; Nicks’ classic rock radio-ready sound and hippie ethos combined perfectly with Stewart’s cavalcade of hits, for a night of sheer sing-along goodness and rock and roll bliss. Nicks focused on her own mythology throughout her set, performing songs from her solo career (“Edge Of Seventeen,” “Stand Back”) and her Fleetwood Mac heyday (“Dreams,” “Rhiannon”). Pictures of herself in her younger years flashed on the screen behind her, and she shared stories from her life in music. Her new material, from In Your Dreams, definitely fit in alongside her established classics, indicating that Nicks still has the gift. During the moving “For What It’s Worth,” inspired by a bus trip she and musician Dave Stewart took in the 90s, the song’s official video played behind her, and suddenly the lyrics became very literal. And “Soldier’s Angel,” from the same album, hung heavy in the air, sounding for all the world like vintage Mac. The 64-year old Nicks also played air guitar, waved her scarves around, and changed her outfits to match her songs (“Edge Of Seventeen”‘s white wing dove required a white blazer, etc.). The last song, “Landslide” was dedicated to all the songwriters in attendance (it’s Nashville, natch). That next song you write, Nicks counseled, that you feel is your breakthrough hit… well, you just may be right about that. “We’re going to play everything you want to hear and more, so let’s get to it” said an affable Rod Stewart, taking the stage with a cover of The O’Jay’s “Love Train.” Watching Stewart perform is a bit like being stuck in a time warp. For one, his attention to roots rock detail (hammond organ, acoustic guitar, mandolin and fiddle) is spot on, while his band’s silver-suited attire is more “mod”. Then there’s all those 80′s and early 90′s hits to contend with — “Downtown Train,” “Young Turks,” “Forever Young.” And then there’s Stewart himself — still concerned with his hair (“sometimes you can’t do anything with it, girls” he joked to his back-up singers) and still wiggling his hips and gliding across the stage like a man half his age. At 67, he has a bit of the “old grandad” air to him; at one point, he stopped the show to show off pictures of his children and grand kids, which set up “Forever Young.” But if his voice is less raspy then it once was, he remains forever feisty. “Aren’t those skirts a little short?” he asked the local string players, all young and female, before concluding, “never mind — it does an old man’s heart good.” True to his roots, the set list overflowed with covers, from Tom Waits’ “Downtown Train” to Cat Stevens’”The First Cut Is The Deepest.” There was a tribute to Ronnie Lane in the Faces’ “Ooh La La,” and nods to Chuck Berry (“Sweet Little Rock and Roller”), Danny Whitten (“I Don’t Wanna Talk About It,” which Stewart helped popularize), Van Morrison (“Have I Told You Lately”) and Creedence Clearwater Revival (a Stewart-less “Proud Mary”, performed with great gusto by the band.) But for nostalgic purposes, “Maggie May” trumped them all, and made a “first-class fool” out of everyone who sang along (which was every one). The morning sun when it’s in his face may show his age, but ultimately, Rod Stewart remains as ageless as Rock and Roll itself. |
Stevie REALLY needs to change what's on the screen behind her. It looks like some old Windows Media Player designs from long ago. Except for Landslide and Rock and Roll, she needs to fix this. I think of all the things that could be shown while she sings: More pictures of course, and more of her paintings.

Hi, I was at the Nashville concert. First of all, I thought it was awesome. I'm still coming down off the concert high. :D Anyway Stevie did not perform Rock n Roll, she opened with Enchanted. The rest of CAD Dreaming's setlist is right. She did do Dreams, no duets with Rod. It was a little disappointing because I wanted to see her do Young Turks with Rod, she had done such a great job before.
My theory is that Rod messed up the lyrics to Leather and Lace so bad, and probably didn't want to take the time to learn her songs so they just decided to do their own sets. From the videos I saw of Leather and Lace, Rod looked so bored and uncomfortable. this could have caused friction between them. Just my theory. I could be wrong. Maybe Stevie's voice was bothering her. It will be interesting to see if they duet again in the future. I am a huge Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac fan! I just wanted to throw my .02 in. |
thanks for everyone's input. Sounds like this tour with Rod is having it's share of difficulties, worst of which is the return of that damned ruffle dress.

Now I'm confused because 2 Ledgies said she opened with Rock and Roll and 1 says Enchanted. What gives???
|
It was Rock'n'Roll.

There's a 47 minute video of Stevie's set from last night on Youtube. The crowd was FANTASTIC, from what I hear. Why doesn't she ever play there solo? Best Rod/Stevie crowd yet. Sounded like a Fleetwood Mac audience.

PS Stevie has been doing some fabulous twirls on Rhiannon.
Ok, carry on. |
Twirls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for what she wears,,,, does it really matter as long as she is comfortable and out there!!! d, |

Twirls during Rhiannon is highly exciting since she hasn't incorporated them into this song for quite a long time...:] |

Hasn't anyone else noticed that Stevie isn't singing her normal melody part on the chorus when she does this song with Rod?? Even if you compare the Rod versions with the Steve Reel versions you can tell. With Steve R., Stevie is singing the parts she normally does. With Rod, she is reaching for the parts that Don or Steve R. sing, and Rod is desperately trying to sing Stevie's melody parts, but it comes off more like talking than singing. They really should have picked a better-suited song for their respective ranges. Even Stop Draggin' would be a better fit; I think Rod's gritty voice might just be able to sing the Tom Petty lines pretty well. |
they really should do Stop Dragging My Heart Around -because its funner /
Leather and Lace is a beautiful serious song :) |

What has Walter Egan been up to all these years? DOes anyone know?
Does Billy live in Nashville now? Does Walter? Inquiring minds want to know! |

Anyone know if Rick Vito was there?? That man can play a guitar...!!! Here's hoping Stevie is feeling better tonight and has a good show.. without any duets?? I was thinking how cool it would be if she added L&L with her singing coach to her set list so roddy could hear and see how it is done right? Oh well, Twirl On !! :] |
