Lindsey in Ithaca
I just saw Lindsey in Ithaca, NY tonight. A small theatre with only half the seats sold, but a very spirited crowd. The set list was the same as the other shows but I loved the intimacy and intensity of his performances. Psyched I got to shake his hand!--which almost makes up for me not being able to secure meet-and-greet tickets.
One curious thing: Not once did he mention Bob Welch's death. I know he doesn't have to do this, but it just seemed a little strange to me. Otherwise, loved the show! |

SO thoroughly enjoyed my first solo Lindsey show in Ithaca last night! It just keeps getting more and more important to pay homage to the great ones. The Goddess of Music Appreciation touched me -- earlier in the day I was offered an upgrade and had no idea it would be a meet and greet, front row, up close and personal :D! Oh and what could I bring him? Got into my pile of storage boxes and dug out the only remaining vinyl that I own - of course their 1973 B&N work ... got the gold pen and packed it up to take to the show! Found a gratitude card I could leave him with because he just needs to know from one more fan how he heals with that music and shines in the brilliance! And I pleaded that he keeps bringin it to us peeps! We out here need him over there doin that!!
The show was beyond expectations. Some lyrics I hadn't gotten before hit me so hard I was in tears. And of course he picked up a new guitar for each song. Master of the picking that he is, he just mesmerized me -- so thoroughly taken to that place by I'm So Afraid, my favorite emotional song he does. What an intimate setting. Such an f in genious!! Here's some pics of meeting him. He seemed genuinely grateful to be acknowledged for the impact of his poetry and music, "That's what the music is for!" I asked about a S&L set of shows. He confirmed they've been talking about it but she's doing her stuff right now too. I assured him we would be there! OMG he was so sweet, gentle and humble...really. And, he was still a little sweaty for that hug I will never forget....Hope you enjoy the show too if you can go:] |
^ Nice!!! Thanks for sharing. Great pics.

looking at the pics, i'm thinking these were not taken by the staff member but by someone you knew? or staff member agreed to snap several action ones for you? i'd love to have some action shots like this instead of a regular "say cheese!" photo. |

At other m&g people were told that they'd take the photo for you with your camera. Was that the rule for yours? My impression was they'd only allow one photo. |

Here are a few pics I took using my droid...the lighting was off and he didn't mind people getting up close for shots...these are from my seat just so I had a few ...
And the meet n greet was organized two by two by one of Lindsey's roadies and I can't remember if another roadie or the venue staff person took the pix...but the orders were: 1) "Men, don't squeeze Lindsey's hands tightly if you shake hands. My getting my kids new braces depends on him being able to play." [haha] 2) You can get him to sign one item only. 3) Be sure you take your time and talk to him. 4) Give us your camera and we will take the pix for you -- [so that person just kept snappin] ... One person had the pix taken with a camera and her phone so they were definitely not into rushing. It was totally worth the money .. I'd have paid even more but hey, that's just me. SO BLESSED! |

Glad you had such a good time. I love what you said about the lyrics taking on new meaning for you when you were hearing them being performed live. Michele |

I really enjoyed the show. I have some pictures I will post tomorrow and I will also post a more complete review of my meet and greet.
Here is the video I shot for Seeds We Sow. http://youtu.be/-h5CzowN_as |
I'm glad you guys have and will be sharing your meet and greet photos. I so wanted to buy tickets for that but they sold right away!
I really loved the show and enjoyed the stripped down nature of things. He was able to get a very full sound out of just his guitar, his voice (which was in surprisingly great shape), and spare dubs and back-up guitar from one of his roadies. It felt like a very full show. Again, I am wondering what people's thoughts are about him not mentioning Bob Welch. My friend and I were pretty surprised by his silence on this. |

I'm only guessing of course. But maybe he doesn't want to bring the audience down with that type of mention, considering the circumstances. |

So here is my thoughts. The concert was great but way too short. It was barely an hour and then the main set was over. I think even if he did just a few more songs it would be great. The meet and greet was well organized in terms of ensuring only those on VIP got in. I was disappointed in terms of where they had it. Initially I was told it would be in the front auditorium but they ended up having it in the hall way adjacent to the stage where the lighting was not great. The head of security took the pictures and it was a disaster. I don't know anyone who had there pictures turn out. All of mine are blurry. I was hoping i could somehow fix them but I think there is nothing I can do.
I asked him about touring with Tina Turner and he said that he is a fan of hers but thought the pairing was odd but added that the label put it together. He said he played for 45 minutes which was a lot less then his normal show back then. I asked him about touring Canada for this tour and he said that they are driving in cars for this tour only taking planes when necessary and that they are doing the tour in regions and hopefully they will get there. I don't drive for medical reasons so my parents offered to drive me down and at the last minute they decided to go and ended up getting a front row ticket in the section next to me. They really enjoyed the show and were amazed at how well he sang and played guitar. Matt |

Never Going Back Again
http://youtu.be/uZJ1sp9z4pc My Mom shot this with her I Phone. Not bad for a novice. Matt |
Camchristo & I were at this show. Front row to LB's right. Very small historic old theater. I asked security if we would be allowed up to the stage & he said they'd prefer we didn't - they didn't want people from way in back to rush down & stand in front of people who paid more $ for better seats. I said I was cool with staying in my seat as long as he promised to make sure nobody stood in front of US! :D And it was fine - I actually enjoyed being able to sit, relax & concentrate on the music. We did stand for GYOW, and went to the stage for the encores.
The show was approx. 80-90 minutes - he started right @ 8:30pm. There were 2 front row seats that remained empty the entire show. Not sure what happened there - I thought at first maybe they were casual fans who thought there was an opener, or assumed he'd go on late. But nobody ever came. A guy sat next to me, and he seemed like a pretty big fan - had a Rumours album & a mini-Turner guitar for LB to sign at M&G. However, I was pretty shocked that not only did he come in late - he LEFT in the middle of the set to get another beer. Even worse, during Trouble & SWS, he & this other chick were talking - TALKING - while standing right at LB's feet! I was distracted and annoyed. I actually heard the woman say "I don't even know the name of this song!" during Trouble. WTF. I thought it was terribly rude & disrespectful to have a loud casual conversation while one of your favorite artists plays 3 feet away from you. Anyway. Rant over. Meet & greet was organized by Dan Smalls, the promoter. I'd say Cammie & I had about 5 minutes total - 2-3 minutes each. While some may think that's rushed, I thought it was adequate considering there were 20 people he had to meet. Cammie had a jacket that LB wore onstage during the Tusk tour signed (he DID recognize it!) I had him sign my BN album & told him that he has many fans who appreciate the "small machine" and that the fact that he's doing these intimate tours & continues to put out new music is awesome, because people ARE listening & DO give a ****. He smiled and said "thank you, I really appreciate you saying that." As others noted, the lighting WAS terrible & our pic was very blurry too - to the point that we were unrecognizable. We just stuck around & asked for a retake. Which the promoter was cool with & LB did willingly. The nice thing was that LB came down into the venue seats to meet a gentleman in a wheelchair (the hallway for the M&G was not wheelchair accesible), so we benefited from better lighting & a second chance to chat with him, albeit very briefly. |
Here are a few pics. I did get a small video clip of Trouble, but haven't had time to upload:

I was on the front to Lindsey's left. People were in good spirits and attentive. There was one woman, however, who kept on yapping about her nephew being the best guitarist these days and that people should check him out. She kept saying this throughout the show.
I am glad I was able to approach the stage during the encore. I got to shake his hand and revel in the music. Whoever didn't know what "Trouble" was must not have been a big fan! |

Yeah, I'm not sure what was up with that chick. Like, she was a big enough fan to sneak up front, but not enough to know his songs? |
