Lindsey's SOLO Tour Under Way!!!

Here's the first photo tweeted:

http://i50.tinypic.com/2czx9af.jpg

And the same person just reported to Elle that he played (she thinks) Bleed To Love Her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :blob1:

Lindsfan 05-03-2012 10:58 PM

And I guess he played...COME. Acoustic Come

AliceLover 05-03-2012 11:00 PM

SPOILER

'Come' is also in the set list. I hope Bleed to Love Her and Come aren't the songs the fan club is excited for. He's done them both over the past couple tours. Sorry I'm being a downer, I hope there are more treats (and nothing from Under the Skin, except SUD and TFTS.

Lindsfan 05-03-2012 11:03 PM

OK, so Come is not acoustic...it's the M1:

Here's another photo, just posted on Twitter. I love how intimate it looks

shoot, i was hoping you were there... not sure whether we had anybody there who knows all the songs. this girl tweeting pics and vids was great (and she promised to post more vids soon!), but i don't think she really knows his songs.

btw, her overall impression:

That was beyond my expectations omfg

Here's another of her impressions. I love this one ( she sounds a little excited - which I can relate to ) :D

"same he is slaying rn I can't at how good he is at the guitar"

tracks we know / videos

we already know about Bleed To Love Her and Come - so these 2 were different from the last year's tour. all songs below were also a part of the last year's tour, and after hearing Come, ISA and GYOW don't come as a surprise anymore:

NGBA - http://www.twitvid.com/RADFF

Big Love - http://www.twitvid.com/PMIIZ

I'm So Afraid - http://www.twitvid.com/4BQYJ

GYOW was the last song before the encore - http://www.twitvid.com/B0JYU

encore:

Trouble (he also shook hands with people as he came back out for the encore) - http://www.twitvid.com/OVSQ0

Seeds We Sow - http://www.twitvid.com/UFKRR

no word about RAB or Red Rover... still hoping...

so........ for all of you worried that he's not going to rock - looking at these vids it was definitely not an unplugged, completely acoustic show!

and another couple of tweets from our great source from tonight:

♬S†ephanie♬ ‏ @HeyyGurrlHeyy
@tinaalva It was awesome it exceeded my expectations for sure. I'm uploading videos it's just taking forever.

♬S†ephanie♬ ‏ @HeyyGurrlHeyy
I URGE all you LA people to see Lindsay Buckingham tomorrow night it was an incredible performance!!!

elle 05-04-2012 01:56 AM

couple more tweets:

@SDRockandRoll
Lindsey Buckingham is touring. If you have any interest in guitars- its a must see. Just witnessed his finger picking fire @BellyUpMusic

‏ @1bluerose7
Saw Lindsey Buckingham tonight ... the guys fingers can fly.

D.W-Suite 05-04-2012 04:04 AM

Well I no longer have any desire for a cd/dvd from this tour anyway...

AliceLover 05-04-2012 05:04 AM

So:

Bleed to Love Her
Come
Ngba
Big love
So afraid
Go Your own way
Trouble
Seeds we sow

Is this what we have so far? Those other 9-10 songs betterbe GOLD!

AliceLover 05-04-2012 06:04 AM

We can definitely add "Go Insane" and "Tusk" to the list. I'm sure "Shut us Down" is in there too. This is all speculation of course. Wow, there are just so many songs I wish he didn't do.

Hmmm... I'm tempted to agree. I think it's a shame he's playing with a backing track instead of rearranging the songs for a single acoustic guitar. The new arrangements sound pretty stripped back so why not just get someone up to do acoustic rhythm guitar for real?

I'm a bit disappointed by Come. Not because it sounds bad - I think the arrangement in that clip actually sounds really cool and different to previous version - but because I can't help but feel it'd have been better with the other three guys playing it.

Lindsey: If you're going to do a show with other things playing at the same time as you why not just bring a band? More art, less artifice.

Also, Go Your Own Way, is note-for-note his electric version; Same with ISA.

Is it literally just him with no band? Wtf?

He uses tracks anyway, but it's just weird. I'm bummed out it's not a true solo-all-acoustic set, but I'm not surprised.

I am actually surprised. I could have seen him using his Turner and just rocking out a one-man punk version of GYOW but I never expected him to use a backing track...

Now, if he built each backing track up live using loop pedals then that would be very cool but if it's out of the box, pre-recording backing tracks I'm much less intrigued.

wondergirl9847 05-04-2012 07:07 AM

Wow.

My Lindsey acoustic tour boner is DEAD.

Disappointed.

I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't judge it until it I've seen it...

Yeah, we've not much info yet and people seemed to enjoy it. I just can't help but think how sterile it must seem to be playing along a band-in-a-can.

McTrouble 05-04-2012 07:26 AM

Come and Bleed To Love Her!

I am going to be a happy bunny - don't care now what rest of set list is! :blob1:

And from pics I've seen so far his hair looks GREAT! :D

That's what I thought looking at GYOW. It just looks weird. How cool would it have been if he had reworked all his songs like he did with BL and GI to be acoustic.

AliceLover 05-04-2012 07:39 AM

WHERE IS THE SET LIST?!?!?!

Wake up people of California, us East Coasters are dying to know already!!

i am sure about GI and SUD. i'm really hoping for no Tusk since with these ~10-mins solos there's not that much more space in a 90-min show.

i am unsure how i feel about this. on one hand i was really curious to hear very reworked songs and a completely different setlist. on the other hand i was worried that it will be too classical-music-concert-like and slowed down if he did that.

considering there were just a few people here who were really looking forward to a completely acustic set (like Peestie), i'm surpriesed how many people are now banging on him for doing GYOW and ISA the way he did it... especially Alicelover who was very loud about skipping this tour b/c it will not be rocking enough for him:wavey:... hard to have it both ways:laugh::shrug:. i have heard other people like you on FB saying that considering what they've heard about yesterday, they now decided to go see this tour after all.

anyway, since ISA and GYOW are a must-do songs for him, and i love the audience interaction they allow, i hope that rounds up all big FM hits that he did and that the rest is more acoustic and what we were expecting. audience there definitely seem to have enjoyed the show a lot so he must have done the right thing for many people even if maybe not for some of his most rabid fans that expected something completely different from the usual.

and i must say - i am so looking forward to hear BTLH (i hope that info is correct!?) and Come live - and am very happy that he added two original GOS/SYW songs to the setlist!:blob2:

WelshWitchPMD 05-04-2012 09:04 AM

I'm going to save my comments until I actually get to see the show tonight.

Regina 05-04-2012 09:15 AM

Sounds like a good compromise. I just want to know all the songs on there...I have a wish list which I know won't be filled, but...a girl can dream (Surrender the Rain, You Do or You Don't, Gone Too Far...)

There's a difference between a blaring guitar solo by himself and a blaring guitar solo with a band...a very big difference. Drums, base, back up guitars, vocals, and keyboards. However, if he is going to do electric, I'd like TTWLG.

What I'm getting at here elle...is that I want the band. I think we thought this was going to be a whole new tour, new arrangements, and new versions of songs. It feels like Lindsey lost his band at a rest stop and is continuing the tour with the instruments he has left...

I think the fact that he did it with the backing tracks is a missed opportunity. I could just imagine a really nice GI-type version of Come or a whispered, mournful version of ISA with a Street of Dreams style solo at the end. Sure, he couldn't do any of the screaming electric solos but just think of the fun he could have had with the arrangements of those warhorses. He could have also left out a couple that wouldn't work and fill the space with new stuff like Bel Air Rain, RAB, Underground, Red Rover (assuming he didn't do any of these. If he did then I'm thrilled).

I'm a little bit bummed about the backing tracks but I'd still jumpjumpjump at the chance to see him live. I think I'd enjoy the show perfectly while I was there.

shackin'up 05-04-2012 10:42 AM

From what I hear from the clips, he has recorded/compiled a tailormade backingtrack for those rocksongs. I can live with that. I'm more worried about the acoustic setlist. I fear a remake of the last two tour's list..... No real surprises. BTW, I think he sang GYOW pretty poor... But he'll get better along the road...as always...

Hmmm.... band in a can? I wish my first Lindsey solo experience (June 11)wasn't this. I won't but my husband may fall asleep.

I won't judge until I actually see it. I hope I can get pics though. It says no cameras or recording devices, but hey, everyone has a cell phone camera & of course, I will take my regular camera with a nice zoom. :D

Lee :)

HejiraNYC 05-04-2012 10:55 AM

Why did he stop at playing with pre-recorded guitar and percussion tracks? Heck, he could go out on the road with "Fleetwood Mac," including Christine's pre-recorded vocals and keyboard parts. I seriously wonder what was the motivation for the "band in a can" tour. Did his accountant ring him up to tell him that he hasn't earned any income in three years and that he needs to finally tour AND make money at the same time?

I can respect and appreciate a totally solo acoustic show. And it would be quite a novelty if he could play live against digital samples of his guitar playing recorded on stage. But this is a bit hard to stomach. It's a bit lazy actually. He had the opportunity to re-present his catalog with new arrangements and instrumentation, but instead has relied on the tried and true "rock show" approach. Cop out. I suppose I shouldn't pass judgment until I've had a chance to witness things firsthand, but the "band in a can" thing is just sooo not cool with me.

Lee 05-04-2012 11:14 AM

Ok, having just seen both videos, someone get Linds a towel! And get me one, too. :D

I think I'll like the show. Don't know about hubby though.

How long does his show last to those who have been?

Lee :)

BigAl84 05-04-2012 11:15 AM

I'm not really surprised by this in the least. The way Lindsey works in the studio by himself and given the technology...it's almost a no brainer to assume he would have a laptop hooked up with a few rhythm tracks to back him up. He's very rarely a solo performer in the purest sense. It's hard to picture him in a James Taylor sort of performance.

That being said, I do agree that maybe some new arrangements would of been cool. GYOW acoustic would of been cool among other things. So sure, maybe I am a little disappointed if it's going to be last years set list minus a band. I can't blame anyone for being a little disappointed in that.

Being the guitar wiz that he is, you would think he would really want the show to be a showcase of his ability and show that ability in broader depth.

I was kind of hoping for more of a sit down, intimate, mtv unplugged kind of thing which this isn't looking to be thus far.

that's what i'm hearing too.

for everybody jumping on the band-in-a-can wagon, did you all actually listen to these clips that are available?! i may not have the best ear, but some of the comments i'm reading here are completely speculative when they don't need to be, especially in the light of actually having available videos.

to whoever asked, it is somewhere in the messages above - the show was exactly 90 mins. so i am worried about what other acoustic tracks he had time to play, and am really hoping it's not just ones he did acoustically before.
