Sorry guys, this tour in my view is the low point of Stevie's career, the show I saw on this tour almost made me walk away from her as a fan (glad I didn't) but it was truly awful and this one is no better. Someone close to her should have advised her to stay home and get herself clean. She damaged her voice so much on this overly long tour that it ruined her outing on Tango in the Night and just about deep sixed her career. I'd rather not recall the Rock a Little days as this was what caused the downward spiral and should have been her time to get her act together, get off the drugs and hire the vocal coach. We probably would have had an album of In Your Dreams calibre 20 yrs sooner, and with time to save her precious voice, had she done some work on herself at the time.

I love how Lori gets rocked a little by Stevie in How Still My Love @ 5:54.

I wondered what Lindsey's reaction would be if Stevie decided to do that to him, in lets say..... Angel, while sharing the mic.:lol::lol:

Maybe they could incorporate that into a future show some how.

Really? The Tango tour was the first time I saw her live, and she sounded a lot better than I was expecting.

Wow....I was at this show at Reunion Arena.....I was only 16. You really took me way back.....you made my evening..... wow......

Watched it straight through. Awesome, thanks.

Thanks for posting. This was the last tour that she really rocked on. I know many Ledgies swear by the Street Angel Tour, but I stand by my words.
Also, I still say Stevie is off her rocker to think that "I Can't Wait" was a disaster live.

Did you not see the Wild Heart tour?

It was just as unscripted, just as insanely giggly, just as twisted, and just as drug-fueled. The only differences were A) that her 1983 band was a better group of players, and B) that in 1983 she had more air in her lungs, allowing her to execute all those romantic bellows at the beginnings and ends of songs more loudly and clearly.

See my sig pic.

I agree! I first saw her solo on this tour. Having only the released VCR tape of clips from her Bella Donna show as reference, I expected an amazing show. I was sadly mistaken. She missed her cues, and didn't so much sing the songs as much as wail incoherently. She essentially just butchered the songs, forgetting lyrics. The pace of the show was totally off because of long pauses between songs, and when she talked no one could understand what she was saying; it was just blurted babble. The band itself was very strong. I wonder if any of the players were concerned for her, or at least frustrated by her lack of professionalism.

It's kind of funny that she has noted that the reason she has not performed "I Can't Wait" since then is because the band had a hard time playing the song, and they only tried it a few times. That's just revisionist history from Stevie. The band had no problem playing the song. It was Stevie who had a hard time singing it -or rather remembering the lyrics. And, the song, correct me if I'm wrong, was in the set for most of the tour.

I'm not too surprised that I stayed a fan. I guess I knew she was much better than that. I wasn't so fickle as to completely dismiss her. But I had no idea what she was dealing with at that time. In hindsight, now knowing what the situation was, it fits in context. Still, it's riveting to look back at this train wreck, and feel grateful that she was able to pull out of it.

Macfanforever 03-28-2012 04:25 PM

I think I cryed after seen her like this on the RAL tour. After the shows that I attend plus the RedRocks concert on tv.I was upset.I agree .she was lucky to put herself back together.

snroxman 03-28-2012 05:05 PM

I consider myself "lucky" to have seen Stevie early in the RAL tour - a week later - in Lexington. Of course, by then, "Sara" and "Gypsy" were long gone, but the show was great! "I Can't Wait" was phenomenal, when sung properly :) Definitely a bit of revisionist history in play on "ICW".

Nathan 03-28-2012 08:34 PM

I love it when people get all prudish and precious about Stevie on drugs and stuff, it's great.

On Ice 03-28-2012 11:23 PM

Hey Nathan, nothing prudish about her drug use, she's human. This tour though was a complete train wreck and probably just about did her in. I don't get that fans think these were great performances. I'm so grateful she pulled through and got back on track because she's done some great music and wonderful shows since then. Rock a Little, not so much, a definite low point.

Hey David, almost...I had tickets to a show at the CNE bandshell in Toronto but it got cancelled at the last minute. I would love to have seen one of those shows because at least the vocals were still kind of great.

Wow, great pictures, she looked great.

Anyone else hear her say, "That was bad", after Stand Back?

Or , "I always like to play Dallas first, because I know you're ready to party".
Of course, in 1983 when she played Dallas, she came out and announced the football score before launching into the first verse of Stop Dràgging my Heart Around.

After Stand Back, she said she sang the Take Me Home part as, Take Me Back instead, and that was the first time she had ever done that. So I think she was referring to the Take Me Back part as bad, like I wouldn't ever ask you to take me back. Then she said, Take Me Back... Ohhh Bad... Not Good. Which I think is totally funny. It's hard to make out what she says sometimes but when you can, it's worth it. Lot's of that on this tour, and I love it.Even the way she walked across the stage after she said that, was a weird kinda strut. Everyone on that stage had there own trips going on too. It worked well for times they, we,were in, and it was just pure joy to see it firsthand, very enjoyable, and it was a great party for all.

Can anyone decipher why the band walks off stage after Rhiannon?

Crack is whack.

Nathan 03-30-2012 08:04 PM

Crazy show, a little sad.

So they cut three or songs out of the set...
Wonder if that's one of the reasons she says she tried to restrain her use on this tour. Because Waddy was maybe feeling like Jimmy did.

I have not watched ANY of this weeks blitz. I refuse to even look at the pictures till I can go home tomorrow and watch it in HD.

David 03-30-2012 10:38 PM

Rick Marotta, the drummer on this tour, gave an interview years afterward and said that Stevie was a "dynamo" on this tour. "When she was on, she was on fire," he said. He added that he hoped to one day tour with her again.

So she had at least one fan in the band in 1986.
