Thanks, viv.
It's weird to see those shots of Stevie onstage in broad daylight. That must be the Tempe show on the 81 tour? What's weird is that I'm totally comfortable with seeing Stevie onstage in broad daylight at all those old festivals they played from 75 to 78. In her old danskins & top hat, she fits right in to that whole atmosphere. But starting with the 79 tour, she just doesn't look "right" singing in broad daylight. It looks weird. I think that one shot of her at the dressing room mirror is backstage at the Bowl in 1980. Folks have to get more familiar with that look because it doesn't remind them of the rest of that whole tour. It was oddly different--it looks ahead somehow. |

I don't know why, but seeing concerts in the daytime doesn't feel like I'm getting my full money's worth. Not even at the Hollywood Bowl. When the sun is still out, it's less atmospheric and makes me realize how much stage lighting enhances the listening mood. Not just for me, but I think the surrounding audience is less attentive and more restless during daytime shows. They are too casual. That's not saying I don't wish I could have been at the US Festival in 1982. Michele |

Always liked seeing her outside at Riverbend Center in Cincinnati during summer concerts on tour, she'd usually start right about dusk when there was just a bit of light out still, but 30 minutes into it, it'd be dark outside and I agree, to me a concert isn't a concert without all the stage lights and nice backdrops. It does inhance the mood of the show.

Wish we had near as many shots and behind the scenes clips and footage from her Rock A Little era. I'd take all the good and bad just to get a glimpse of that fabulous rock and roll era of her life and the wild hair and fabulously layered sparkly clothes. Funny that people seemed to collect too little from that tour. Maybe Stevie has things from it we've yet to ever see she's held on to.
