Did anybody on here get contacted from the producers of the dvd.

jkmaletic 02-17-2012 12:28 PM

I haven't heard anything.

I'm hoping they just haven't gotten to doing that yet. They will have to get signed permission before it's released PUBLICLY though.

...crossing fingers, toes, and all possible body parts...

SuiteShangriLa 02-17-2012 06:16 PM

i dont think they will have to contact anyone, just to say they decided to use your video. and i dont think anyone would need to sign anything...because people submitting videos were asked to say "i give WOME permission to use my video/image in the SN doc"...right?

Yeah, but they specifically mentioned to include your email in the submission so they can contact you to sign a release.

Just found this on Twitter... https://twitter.com/#!/paulwesley/st...97332981039106
Not sure who Paul Wesley is but it's a verified acct...
He says he's seen the IYD doc and it's "An intimate and fascinating look at making an album"...

CADreaming 02-18-2012 12:01 PM

I wonder if these people have seen a final version with the fan videos though.

louielouie2000 02-18-2012 12:05 PM

It's entirely possible the fan submission part was dropped for the final product.

Macfanforever 02-18-2012 12:20 PM

When NBC used my questions on the Jimmy Fallon show.I did not receive a call or a email about them using my clip.Or sign a release statement.I was totally stocked to see myself on tv that night.

Before you posted this did you happen to read through this short thread? You know, like post #2 perhaps?:p

Interesting...

Paul Wesley from Vampire Diaries

I have no idea who Maryelle (or Mary) DeVitto is, but I know who Paul Wesley is. He plays "Stefan" on The Vampire Diaries and he is married to Torrey DeVitto. I take it Maryelle and Torrey are related somehow. Hence...Paul's retweet. :)

They're sisters.

I wonder how Stevie is going to promote this DVD.She will be with Rod on tour.Singing a coulpe of tunes is not going to help sales of this dvd. Also I wonder if our fan video is going on it or it got shelfed.nobody got contacted from the producers yet.

I wonder if the Rod tour is what is going to help fund the expenses of this DVD. I also imagine it will boost some sales by having it at the merch table.

Quite possible. If not, I can see very little time given the segment. The last thing I want to see in a movie about Stevie making an album is a lengthy segment of gushing fans. The project caters to an audience that is already well aware of her fandom. If this documentary has any integrity and substance, it will keep that kind of loving pandering to a minimum.

Agreed. I think they may include a few clips within the doc itself, but for the most part the fan videos will be used in the credits, advertisements, and in the special features menu on the DVD.

You are probably right about that. That would be the best use of those clips.

Macfanforever 02-28-2012 11:53 AM

Come think about it she was promoting her Soundstage DVD during the FM Unleashed tour in 2009.

rubylounge 02-28-2012 03:29 PM

Maybe they will use the fan submissions and not contact us before the release. Assuming that our verbal permission was enough. Maybe they will release it & have us buy it in order to see which fans made it?

jkmaletic 02-29-2012 01:21 PM

Not much of an update, but I asked Dave Stewart on Twitter today about the documentary release and he said, " this is down to mysterious and silent WB."

Shall we bombard WB with emails asking WTF is taking so long?

Jamie

Macfanforever 02-29-2012 01:45 PM

I have a feeling it will get delayed.FM recording plans probably will get pushed into 2014.This out of nowhere RS tour will probably will help her pay some bills off in the meantime.

I tweeted WB and copied Dave's and Stevie's accounts and have asked followers to retweet.

LOL! Why??

Dodfather 02-29-2012 06:28 PM

I've given up on the documentary and will try to only think about it again if/when an official release date is announced.

michelej1 02-29-2012 08:23 PM

Maybe the tour with Rod will generate a little IYD revival and they can release the DVD in conjunction with that, to maximize the buzz.

Michele

Not sure if this will have anything to do with Stevie's doc, but Dave just tweeted this link:

Hmmm, This could be a vehicle to have the IYD documentary play limited engagements at Indie theaters in major cities & then eventually go on to DVD. I believe this was Dave's original genesis long before the doc was completed.

For what it's worth (I love saying that), I spoke with a woman yesterday who's business is in producing documentaries. She's been in the business for many years, and she even interviewed Stevie back in 1982. She told me that the legal statements that were made in the video submissions are permission enough for them to use them. So, even if we never received an email asking for written permission for use of the video, we shouldn't assume that our video(s) weren't chosen for the documentary. There's hope for us yet!

I was beginning to give up hope after learning that the documentary was finished a few weeks ago. Still keeping my fingers crossed...

 Yeah.

Word.

Judging how her American Idol mentoring went, and the quality of the products she has released in the last five years, I think this documentary is going to be awesome.

Enchanted_Stevi 04-02-2012 09:24 AM

I seriously can not wait for this documentary to come out!!!
I hate how they prolong the release date and such...like seriously just release it already!!!
