Whitney Houston died?
Is this for real or one of those stupid "oops, we posted a living person's obituary" thing?
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...MPLATE=DEFAULT |
It's on BBC News 24's Aston Strap right now. How sad :(
|
CNN and MSNBC are both reporting it.
|
So sad for her daughter and family.
|
Oh geez. :distress: I'm really sorry to hear this. I loved Whitney for years. I know she'd had a tough past decade or so. My gosh...
|
So sad. She was so young - only 48. Terrible news, really. I think I read that she had just performed at a club somewhere last night.
RIP Whitney. Thoughts going out to her family and friends. She was a superstar. |
I just heard the sad news on the radio.I always liked her tunes.
|
This was a shocker. She was a great talent. It's sad how far she fell. RIP.....sad day indeed:distress:

Is this a hoax? There have been lots of hoax about celebrity deaths lately.

I had just come home from 5 o'clock Mass turned on CNN and saw this..so tragic .God rest her soul.
|
I feel so sad for Whitney's loved ones, and her fans. She was a superstar and beloved by many. Her death at such a young age is so tragic.
|
So very sad. A tragic loss on so many levels. Voice of an angel and such talent. Sigh...
|
Ugh, what an utter sh*tshow... :distress: Whitney's body is still in the hotel- the same hotel where they are still holding a Grammy-related party thrown by Clive Davis. I mean, how utterly morbid and tasteless is that? Show some f***ing respect!!

Shame she never really got to get over her addictions and make a stellar comeback...
I was always partial to "How Will I Know"... her vocals during the chorus were golden |
Just a couple of days ago I stumbled upon her interview with Diane Sawyer and watched it for the first time. Poor Whitney couldn't beat the addiction. :( RIP
|
Her last album was not bad at all. |
This is one of the saddest news I've heard lately. I became Whitney's fan twenty years ago, when I was like 8 or 9 years old. I remember going to the music shop in the neighbourhood to buy her album "The Bodyguard" which of course was omniprestent in 1992/1993. I remember "I Will Always Love You" being played constantly in every possible radio station in my country. I remember how I used to collect articles about Whitney. I remember her smile beaming from cover of magazines. I remember dancing to "I Wanna dance With Somebody" on school party. I remember singing her songs on karaoke party with my girlfriend. I remember buying her albums and cassettes. I remember kissing her poster :) I remember how I reacted to her voice for the first time...(I thought it was Cher, because Cher was the only female artist that I knew then:)). I remember how I couldn't choose what to listen to in 1993: Janet Jackson or Whitney. I remember lending albums my friends. I remember how we used to listen to her music collectively. I remember her concert in Poland in 1998...I remember reminiscing the passing of my grandmother right along with Whitney's ballads. I remember praying for her during her "drug days". I remember buying her latest album "I Look To You". I remember how it made me glad to hear her new songs. I remember being saddened by the fact that her tour got so many bad reviews. I remember joyu in my heart each time I heard that young artists saying how influential Whitney was for them. I remember so many beautiful things connected to her music. She was one of my first Idols. I know that her private life has been a constant fight with addictions lately but it is her voice that will stay with us forever. There will be never another Whitney Houston...
And I will remember... Rest in Peace, I Will Always Love You Whitney! |
I can't say it's a massive shock. She ran herself into the ground with drugs and a terrible relationship. RIP and all that. Just not massively surprised.

I feel so so sad. I've grew up with her, her music and her films. I know it's evident that she had her demons and we shouldn't ever be shocked when an addiction like she had takes a life but for some reason I am shocked. I saw her live a few years back and it was clear foreveryone to see she still had problems. That shouldn't really take away from the incredible talent she had though. RIP Whitney, you will be missed. <3

The music business is a tough business and a sad business
I Will Always Love You" singer died. She was 48. The timing of her death, the eve of the Grammys, the biggest music event of the year, makes the horrible news even more tragic. According to CNN, Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. PT at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
At the time of my posting her body is still at the Hilton Hotel, police, fans, and Paparazzi are surrounding the Hotel. Fame has a toll on a person, and drugs was an excape for her as it was for Fleetwood Mac band. Show business is an insecure business, fame is always fleeting, old age, a fan base that may not stay with you. You have a major responsibilty to others in your support group. People depend upon you; one is riddled with insecurities, the pressues are enormous! With a God given talent, Whitney is now with God and more so in the souls of those who heard her voice and know her talent. |
I wonder if her version of Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You will ever surface.
|
This is so sad, I was a huge Whitney Houston fan in the 90's
I saw some new pics of her yesterday and she looked like a mess :( R.i.p Whitney, your beautiful voice lives on.... |
What Silver Springs and Jondalar said.
|
This is devestating! I was constantly pulling for her in my heart. The world has lost probably the best voice that ever was. She coud sing anything.....just a true God given talent. I'll never forget crying during her version of The National Anthem...
God bless her family....this is a pain they will never fully recover from. I am so tired of drugs stealing the greats from us..... RIP Whitney. |
I am really sad about her death. She was so young and it is horrible to see what addiction can do - it steals everything.
I can't help but find the irony in a couple of things about her death - it's been reported that Whitney was found dead in the bathroom and her mother Cissy, was a backup vocalist for Elvis - who also died in his bathroom. Also, Cissy Houston was a gospel singer and the last song Whitney performed live was "Jesus Loves Me". I hope Whitney is at peace now. |
I'm not finger pointing .but I think she made a big mastake when she got involve with Bobby Brown.Meantime my local FM radio station started to play Whitney's music non-stop.My question Why radio dont play the artist tunes while they are alive.
|
So sad..
Also sad her voice was not as good as in the past, drugs takes its toll. Did she finally released Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You? Is it available somewhere? http://nickslive.blogspot.com/2009/0...vie-nicks.html |
She was an amazing talent. Not only did she have a powerful, beautiful voice, but she was able to convey such joy with it. RIP Whitney.
|
It's such a sad loss. I was at a club last night and the DJ announced her death and everyone was just speechless. It's such a shame, I thought Whitney was getting better. :(
|
I am very suspicious of her death, because like everyone said, I also thought she was getting better. Either way, it's a tragedy and I don't think we will ever forget what great talent she once had.
