Seeds We Sow Track by Track posted on Lindsey's site
http://lindseybuckingham.com/media/videos/12501/26861
New video posted on Lindsey's web site talking about each track on Seeds We Sow. I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole thing, but there is footage of him playing with his band in his studio and also some backstage footage with his family. I'll have to wait to listen to the whole thing later tonight but wanted to let everyone know it's out there, looks interesting! |

Updated Video?
Unless they have updated the video, this thread was posted back in September:

This video merely reinforces my opinion that he could have played a solo acoustic gig over this side of the pond.....

That still image of Lindsey just showing the tip of his nose down is very youthful looking.

so should we read any meaning into the timing of this video being released?
|
I kinda wished he had acknowledged that he just retooled Stars Are Crazy, gave a bit more of the back story. I'd like to hear it from him, how that whole scenario went down, why he wanted to use the song. It was just a quick sum up of what the song was about.. which is odd to me considering he didn't fully write it. I know he added his own lyrics and that everyone has their own interpretation of lyrics, just wish he'd given us a little more.

Thank you, Mr. Buckingham for this gift! I really enjoyed the back story for these songs. I hope you can get back on the road soon so we can hear these treasures.

He talked about Process of Illumination, but most of the other songs on the album are about what happens when people are forced to tell the truth as well. When it is exposed. The album seems to be about the fallout. The disillusion and shock.

Will's very concerned with his hair. Michele

Didn't like his interpretation of "save me" in Gone Too Far. He says, it's like "save the memory of me," preserve my essence, but I like thinking it means rescue me, spare me. Help me.

Oh, I enjoyed the explanations but it's still mostly Lindsey-speak. Great stuff! I have to say I love that he said "knee-jerk". Quote:

But, I'm not really talking about the situations you're in control of. I mean - what if your mate decides they want out or you just wake up one day and discover you have nothing in common but your kids. As much as you want to believe that you are in a committed relationship forever, tomorrow something could happen that could change everything and end up just proving you wrong. |

again, as i attempted to bring up in the other thread, i really think that TTWTLG is more about his current relationship than any of the other songs he says are about his wife. even though he never said that explicitly. |

Interesting, though not at all unusual, that he basically says that it's the kids that make him work harder at making the marriage work.... Always makes me wonder when people say that if they are intimating that had the kids not been there the marriage could have/would have gone off the rails already.... |

Of course, I never want him in a situation where he feels he can't walk away from bad conditions. I never want him feeling trapped in FM or in a marriage, because that opens the door for other people to take advantage and to abuse the power they think they have. So, I have no objection to his phrasing. I just thought it curious. Michele |

Of course, I've never felt the need for my essence to be preserved, that's not my reality. |

he does always talk about IOOT being about Kristen, and to me that's not nearly as obvious as TTWTLG. and WSCD. |

for now, the fact that there's a lot of Kristen in that part of vid, i'm taking that as a confirmation that i'm right.:p |
I enjoyed this video. My favorite part was seeing him play the songs either alone or with the band in his studio. Man, that was some great stuff! I appreciate when artists open up about each of their songs, and even though LB still has a very vague/ambiguous way of describing things at times...I can dig it. I personally think that sometimes it can be hard for him to explain his songs because:
a) they're even more personal than he let's on b) he's so in-tuned and focused when he writes/records them that has to really stretch to put that into words Anyway, I do love what he said about many of the songs. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I almost never go on LB's official site, sadly, and glad this was posted here. |

When the false props you've used to get you somewhere, leave you alone at the end, then you need saving. But actually, what I like about the song is that I imagine that he's talking about someone else and looking at their sadness and he's the one asking to be saved from it. It's like the verses are talking about someone else's pain and then in the chorus, he's asking to be saved from it. That gets to me. That and the vulnerability in his voice. Michele |
