wow. hell yes!

britt0308 11-04-2011 11:57 AM

Woah. I'm not a katy fan usually, but this is the $*@!

I wonder if Stevie will actually be featured in the video. And if her voice over dialogue is Katy's words or her own. I'm hoping for them to be Stevie's because they're incredibly beautiful. Her resonating voice is so deep and moving here..can't wait for the full video on the 11th.

Macfanforever 11-04-2011 12:11 PM

Wow. this will be interesting.

jkmaletic 11-04-2011 12:23 PM

That's cool! Stevie should do voiceovers more often. Maybe she could do Mercedes Benz commercials and stuff.

Fireflies 11-04-2011 12:25 PM

someone commented that perhaps "stevie will play older-katy". i can't say that's an unreasonable assumption...

after another watch, i take this back. there is a shot of "older-katy" stirring a cup of tea, and that hand does not look like stevie's.

I love the voiceovers that Michael C. Hall does for Dodge... in that creepy monotone; it sounds exactly like a Dexter thought bubble. I was hoping he would eventually say "dark passenger van," but alas...

Enchanted_Stevi 11-04-2011 12:39 PM

So cool =P I love Katy Perry....cant wait to see the actual video!

Thrown_Down 11-04-2011 12:57 PM

I don't love Katy, but I love this particular song. Stevie narrating is such a nice touch.

APerfectLie 11-04-2011 03:49 PM

This made my day!

beccamorrisfift 11-04-2011 03:53 PM

I actually cried, Stevie's voice always gets to me, and those words!
Utter perfection, I may be a converted to Katy Perry yet!

APerfectLie 11-04-2011 08:30 PM

I can't help but wonder if that is Stevie at the end. Looks a little too skinny to be her, but the outfit is so her!

JerseyGirl 11-04-2011 08:41 PM

 I like!

johnnystorms 11-04-2011 10:48 PM

more!!!

i'd love to know how this came about!!! why a Stevie voice-over?? knowing her, she didn't want to be in the video. who directed it? i'm just sooooo full of questions.

mikephxaz 11-04-2011 10:52 PM

thanks.... the minute i heard this i thought how fantastic it would be for Stevie to finally write her book and then read the text herself for the audio of the book...yum!!!

TerraRhiannon 11-04-2011 11:29 PM

Omg this is amazing. She should do commercials.. Love it! It would be so totally cool if there was a break in the music video and this was actually in the actual music video! I really hope!

don't tease us!!!! that sounds like the most amazing thing ever.

RockALittle250 11-04-2011 11:59 PM

First of all, WOW! Stevie's voice is so beautiful on this...it really envelops you!

Also, Stevie always says she can't act, but this is pretty convincing to me: "I wish for one day I could go back; in another life I would do things differently"...we all very well know Stevie would NOT change anything about her life, yet she says this so convincingly and genuinely. This proves to me that Stevie can absolutely channel other people and characters that are outside of herself and that acting is most definitely not beyond her capabilities.

Syrah 11-05-2011 12:24 AM

Oh gosh, that made me cry....hearing stevie say those words...meh, can't wait to see the video!

johnnystorms 11-05-2011 12:55 AM

not sure

the cadence and syntax sound a bit Stevie-esque to me. most specifically, the "i wish, for one day.." just seems like her syntax and sentence structure. i'm very curious to know who wrote that!

StandbackStevie 11-05-2011 03:32 AM

I heard Stevie is a big fan of Katy Perry pretty cool of stevie to do a voice over on her video. I like some of her songs not big fan of hers but like some of her songs. Pretty cool for Katy to get the legendary Queen of Rock to narrate her video.

mlourimore 11-05-2011 09:33 AM

This is from Katy's website

Click here now to watch the official trailer for "The One That Got Away". The music video, directed by Floria Sigismondi, will premiere on 11/11/11 when Katy makes a very special exclusive appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show. Directly following Katy's appearance, the video will be available for viewing on www.ellentv.com as well as on VEVO at 4pm ET.

Macfanforever 11-05-2011 09:54 AM

I just watched the clip .Stevie sounded awesome with the voiceover.Katy's cute also he tunes are ok.Maybe Stevie should team up with her with a remix or a new tune some day. This would put Stevie back on the mainstream charts again.

sushud82 11-05-2011 03:46 PM

Ah! That is too good. I love it. Somehow in just those few lines she manages to rip the heart right out of you. She's got a knack for that.

johnnystorms 11-06-2011 02:33 AM

Floria

i've always wanted her to direct a Stevie video, ever since she did Special for Garbage!

TrueFaith77 11-06-2011 10:57 AM

It's so about Lindsey. :o

Stevie absolutely loves the song E.T by Katy!

WildHearted 11-06-2011 08:18 PM

I KNEW that voice sounded familiar. I don't know how I didn't realize it was Stevie, I guess I just never would have expected her to do something like that.

Well, she certainly did a very good job reading that.

ladyk1971 11-06-2011 08:45 PM

This is a little bit Nightmarish for me...My all time favorite singer (Miss Stevie Nicks) collaborating with one of my all time least favorite singers (Katy Perry)....I'm paradoxically stunned!!!

gypsy4life 11-06-2011 09:00 PM

Stevie sure knows how to tug at the heartstrings...while singing or speaking...this was beautiful...Katy Perry probably feels honored to have the Queen of Rock and Roll doing this for her...it was beautiful!

-Lillith- 11-07-2011 01:30 PM

Wow!
I didnt expect that. I am no Katy Perry fan but Stevie did a great job.
I love her part she talks so heartfelt and this text is just beautiful, it is touching, still dont really love Katy singing...
Anyway this collaboration is a great way for her to reach more young people. ;)

I didn't realize it was Stevie either! I just found out today that it was Stevie's voice!

Syrah 11-11-2011 04:19 PM

So the video came out today...Stevie's voice isn't in it :( what does everyone think?

Really ?! How stupid is that? That was easily the best part of the whole thing... ( the only part i liked )
I dont care much for Katy anyway, but i loved Stevies speaking part. I wonder who decided that.

jill 11-11-2011 06:54 PM

Found this online....A seven-minute extended version of “The One That Got Away” will be shown exclusively at select advance screenings for the upcoming Michelle Williams film My Week With Marilyn, which opens in theaters on November 23rd.

Maybe Stevies voice will be in the extended version?!

jill 11-11-2011 07:03 PM

http://rd809.net/home/katy-perry-the...ed-video-edit/

it isnt the video, but her voice is at the beginning of the song....I am sure the 7 minute video will pop up somewhere....sad, as I thought Stevie's part added so much to the song

Dodfather 11-26-2011 05:04 AM

I love the video, love Stevie's voiceover but.. why on earth have they released a more upbeat, "dance" version of the song as the single?! I think doing this takes away from the emotional content of the song. I saw Katy live last month and this song got the one of the biggest cheers of the night, in its full, stripped down big ballad glory! It's very refreshing after all her previous singles.

It's like what was done with Come What May from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. A beautiful ballad remixed for single release. Why?? They could have been brave enough tio just release the album version. It's not like it would make Katy less popular - the whole Teenage Dream thing has been a commercial juggernaut that has proven its worth time and time again with the past 5 singles, I just think they didn't need to play it quite so safe.
