Jackson Browne & Stevie??? Any connection?
I was wondering why we have never heard of any connection between Jackson Browne and Stevie...either professionally or personally? Jackson has been in the same circles (i.e. Eagles) as Stevie and Fleetwood Mac for decades...they are all part of the same California Rock era.....I realize that Jackson is really a good looking guy and Stevie usually doesnt find that appealing in her men:sorry: but has anyone heard of any history or connection over the decades between the two? His song Sky Blue & Black is so beautiful and sounds like a thoughtful Stevie song

I always thought Jackson's song "That Girl Could Sing" was about Stevie....
The lyrics seem to describe her to a tee.... And this video of the song features Russ Kunkel.... Bob Glaub... and Rick Vito in 1982! But according to Jackson, it was about one of his backup singers and not Stevie.... Also, I remember a Street Angel radio interview where Stevie discusses how Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Browne both wrote "miserable" (ie. pain and suffering) albums like Rumours, because "you can't make up those stories" they have to be real.... |
OOOOooooh I like that idea...even if its not true...lets go with that story:D
|
I'm sure they must be friends. I remember a long time ago Stevie was telling an interviewer that she had told Jackson to be careful because he was protesting something(maybe Nukes?) and she was afraid "they" would try to break his fingers.

I'm a BIG Jackson fan so if there is any connection, or please some live performances where they've guested with each other, I'd LOVE it!! I've always thought that Stevie could do a beautiful version of These Days actually.
I actually prefer Jackson to James Taylor, and I do like James, but that opinion has gotten me into some arguments in the past... |
Jackson Browne produced (and played on) Warren Zevon's 1976 album, Warren Zevon which also featured Lindsey and Stevie on a few tracks, as they were known to help out their buddies during that lucrative period.
Here's a quote from Chris Morris who was apparently around The Record Plant for the recording of Rumours: "Because Record Plant had three studios, a lot of other musicians dropped by. Van Morrison hung out a lot. Rufus and Chaka Khan, Rick James. Jackson Browne and Warren Zevon came down because Jackson wanted Lindsey and Stevie to do backing vocals on his album." Carol Ann Harris gives a strange account of Jackson at a party at Mick's house during the Tusk recording, I believe. She said Jackson was trying to get everyone on the anti-nuclear energy bandwagon and Stevie was rolling her eyes. |

I vaguely remembered something Stevie said about Jackson Browne and a quick check of the Q&A section on Nicksfix revealed this tidbit from years ago:
Question 35 - from Tommy Beasley: First of all, hello Stevie, and thank you for your music. I read one time that Jackson Browne was an early influence on you. Is there a chance you and Jackson might record together one day or be involved in a concert or benefit? Thanks for listening.....take care. Stevie's answer: Probably not. Jackson was a big influence, but I don't know him personally. I remember being quite surprised when I read this, because Stevie and Jackson Browne clearly traveled in the same circles for many years. |
Found this while doing a google:
http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=39352 So looks like there was. Here's another possible contact between them: http://www.gottahaverockandroll.com/...spx?lotid=5675 |

That song is simply perfect. Love Jackson Browne. He deserves WAY more accolades, though he does get a lot. Quote:

I'm a huge Jackson Browne fan, I find some of his songs can relate to Stevie such as Sing My Songs To Me, I Thought I Was A Child, The Road , and of course Thast Girl Could Sing.

You guys are goooood Thanks for the info! I was given the JB's dvd Home Again and was watching it last night...he is still a hot guy and can write about heartache (thanks to Daryl Hanna) like only Stevie can...I was wondering why there wasnt a clearer connection between the two since they traveled in the same circles....rumor has it that he can be a mean and violent guy...

I sort of see the similarity in Jackson and Stevie, actually. I could imagine them being long-lost kindred spirits or something. Although I am preferable to Jackson as a songwriter, I agree with the person above who said they have a very similar way of evoking heartache. As I type this "The Pretender" plays...OMG. That song is like my old friend. |

I think he still is incredibly handsome and thats odd for a man in his late 60ties(?) and to be honest ...anyone who would date Daryl would not likely be interested in a Stevie Nicks. i thought i had heard that he had had several run-ins with the law during the breakup and I believe (rumor control ) that his good looking son has carried on like his dad when it comes to bad breakups...
Either way...Jackson writes so beautifully that I wish he wasnt so insular and gave us more of a clue who he actually is... |

Anyway, I now can imagine Stevie singing "Jamaica Say You Will." She could sing a lot of his songs well, I think. It would be amazing to see some kind of collaboration between them. They're the same age as well!! |

At the very end of Moonlight the falsetto part ( aahhh) sounds like its copied from Jackson Brownes falsetto ( ahhhh) from his song Somebodys Baby. First time I heard Moonlight I noticed the similarity.
|
When I first heard the song 'Bella Donna'..on the part that starts out 'and the lady's feeling.." I immediately thought Jackson Browne.

The only song I know by him and recently re-discovered it from the 80's. Great jam, I love this song!! What does this have to do with Stevie you ask..absolutely nothing!!

Late for the Sky I think is generally the most-loved. It's my favorite, along with his self titled debut. Really though, he had an amazing run with the first five albums, I'd recommend em all.

Heard a WH interview the other night where she's talking about her taste in music -- 'Flashdance', Prince, 'Maniac', etc -- and she says, "Well, we USED to like Jackson Brown a lot" and then the girls start giggling and stuff in the background. Interesting. Revealing...?
