Lindsey sounded spectacular, no surprise there. I really loved the guitar work on Seeds We Sow, and confirmed my love of the live versions on Stars and End of Time. However the entire crowd sat down through the whole show until Go Your Own Way. It was so weird. I was on the side and stood from Second Hand News all the way through (I was on the aisle near the wall I don't think I was blocking anyone's view). Anyway I'm hoping for a standing crowd at the Vic tonight. Oh and security said no videos, so I was shot down again!
Great seeing David, Susan, and meeting erwk05! We'll always have the Fonz! AWESOME pics, Erin!!! :blob1: I stood up for part of "Second Hand News" (I was on the other side) but people behind me didn't appreciate that. :distress:
I'll post my pictures and video from "Illumination" later. |
How tight is security? Do you think they'll mind me bringing in my camera or should I sneak in something that I can hide in my pocket?

Review - Lindsey Buckingham @ The Pabst Theater
http://expressmilwaukee.com/article-...t-theater.html
Lindsey Buckingham @ The Pabst Theater Sept. 17, 2011 By Harry Cherkinian That recognizable curly mop of hair above the high forehead is fully gray now, and the man himself is just shy of his 62nd birthday, but Lindsey Buckingham moved about like a frenzied teenager while playing like the experienced master guitarist he is at the Pabst Theater Saturday night. Best known for revitalizing the blues-rock sound of Fleetwood Mac starting in the '70s, along with then-partner Stevie Nicks, Buckingham has just released his sixth studio album, Seeds We Sow. The lively crowd was there to hear "the hits," and Buckingham delighted with innovative arrangements of the classics as well as stirring live versions of the new works, backed by his solid trio of band mates—Neale Heywood on guitars, Walfredo Reyes Jr. on drums and percussion and Brett Tuggle on bass, keyboards and guitar. This small lineup created a sound that easily rivaled bands with far more personnel (and far less personality). Buckingham clearly differentiated between his big commercial successes with Fleetwood Mac, referring to that period of his career as "The Big Machine," and his solo work, which he equated to "The Small Machine." Rather than just recreate slick studio sounds, Buckingham stripped out the high production values and simply faced the audience, solo, guitar in hand, for gorgeous, passionate renderings of Mac hits like "Never Going Back Again" and "Big Love." All the more impressive were solo hits like "Go Insane" and the top-10 hit "Trouble," with Buckingham bringing out a completely different side of the songs with his ghostly, faint tenor and deft guitar work. He also did great service to his songs (which tend to suffer on the new album from hollow, echo-laden production and reverb that overshadow his naturally high tenor vocals). "In Our Own Time" shined brightly with passion amid a strong voice, as did "Illumination" and the thunderous "Stars Are Crazy." The crowd jumped to its feet throughout the one hour 50 minute show, beginning with the opening notes of "Tusk," in which the four live musicians gave the song—which took a marching band on record to create—new life and direction. "Truly, truly he is an American treasure," band mate Tuggle said of Buckingham, who was visibly grateful for the adulation throughout the evening. Clearly, Buckingham was just happy to be there and be heard. Photo by Sierra Riesberg |
