The "Fleetwood Mac" Songs [Part One] - Round One

The winner of the In Your Dreams Survivor Challenge was "Moonlight".

Now onto the "Fleetwood Mac" songs (Part One)....vote for your least two favorite tracks..

nailatixela 09-12-2011 09:19 PM

Why did IYD poll end? There were 4 songs listed in the last poll...we are eliminating 3 and declaring a winner already? I bet Moonlight would have won anyway, but I was curious to see how the others would fair. Who comes in 2nd? or 3rd?

BombaySapphire3 09-12-2011 09:19 PM

Angel and I Don't Want to Know are the obvious for this round.. of the others I 'd refuse to vote they are all classics of the first magnitude.

markolas 09-12-2011 09:20 PM

Angel & Rhiannon. I'm sick of Angel, and I've never liked the studio version of Rhiannon much.

WildHearted 09-12-2011 09:22 PM

This is impossible.

I picked Angel and I Don't Want To Know, but it pained me greatly. Especially IDWTK... I love that little diddy.

GoldDustWoman22 09-12-2011 09:27 PM

That was incredibly hard. I love all of these songs to death! I picked "IDWTK" and "Landslide" because I've just been hearing "Landslide" a little too much lately. And "IDWTK" to me is the weakest one. Still even the weakest is extremely strong.

Moz 09-12-2011 10:02 PM

I thought everyone loved Angel!

Round Six: For What's It's Worth
Round Six: Annabelle Lee/You May Be the One (tie)

For those who are wondering about the choices, I am going in order of how they were released...ten at a time

darklinensuit 09-12-2011 10:16 PM

My picks are "Angel" & "Sisters of the Moon" - both songs are meant to be performed live (that is, only if Stevie dances/bounces around during "Angel"). The album tracks are too tame by comparison.

I think it has probably the dumbest chorus lyric-wise of anything she released until the Klonopin years.

:xoxo: i am inclined to agree! and the only other thing i hate about it..and i've said this before... somewhere in the middle when someone? (stevie, chris, or lindsey) croaks out with that outta tune weird " I KNEW YOU WOULD" ...drives me crazy... (i still think it's Stevie singen along when a big cocaine backdrip hits her throat but she keeps singen anyway and they KEPT IT? ) if it even gets that far... halfway thru that ..."SKIP" lol

michelej1 09-12-2011 10:57 PM

Yeah, it's the obvious one to go first, but I am not sacrificing I Don't Want to Know.

Now that they are a duet again, I'll never know why they don't add that into the setlist.

PastelGravel 09-12-2011 11:07 PM

Landslide and gulp...Dreams...horrible choice. They are all so great.

beccamorrisfift 09-13-2011 01:06 AM

Landslide and I Don't Want to Know, this was torture !
Landslide only because, I do not like the studio version.
IDWTK- because, I loved the other songs too much.
But really I didn't want to get rid of any of them !

Dreams is the most perfect pop song Stevie has ever penned.Landslide is the song she will be remembered for 50 or 1oo years from now..this why I won't vote again until the turn of the decade and the substandard songs rear their head.

KarmaContestant 09-13-2011 08:52 AM

Angel

amd...

Rhiannon. That was easy.

TrueFaith77 09-13-2011 08:55 AM

Impossible to choose.

Their voices aren't high enough anymore?

mitzo 09-13-2011 09:28 AM

I voted IDWTK and Angel. After this round it will be hideous to have to choose, all her FM work is stellar, to my ears. Including the klonopin hymns and SYW.

ontheEdgeof17 09-13-2011 09:31 AM

Landslide and Angel.

I really like IDWTK, but I'm not going to 'obsess' over it in this game. ;)

sushud82 09-13-2011 09:53 AM

I voted for "Dreams" and "Landslide" just because I'm sick of hearing them performed live. I like all of the songs though!

Landslide, you've fallen. And IDWTK, just not a standout song by any means.

How, just how, can anyone vote for dreams?? Here I am dramatic...

I agree, and wonder the same thing.

I really don't think being tired of a song qualifies it as a bad song. Dreams and Landslide are probably - technically and lyrically - the two best songs Stevie Nicks has ever written. Subjecting them to a poll where the voters are sick of hearing them is a disgrace.

I once read an interview in Rolling Stone with James Blunt, and the author was tackling the subject of the massive overexposure that his song "You're Beautiful" received - even resulting in some stations banning it from the airwaves. James had a really good point; he basically said that if you love chocolate cake, and you find the best chocolate cake you've ever eaten, and you eat so much of it that it makes you sick - you can't fault the cake. It's still the best chocolate cake out there. Your own gluttony will never diminish the quality of that chocolate cake. Show a little restraint, and don't blame the baker because you made yourself sick.

I don't always agree with all your posts but this one nailed it beautifully. If Landslide and Dreams were eliminated from her body of work her stature would be diminshed. The songs were overplayed and covered by others because they are timeless classics. Is Casablanca any less of a great film because one may have seen it 20 times?I just don't get that logic.

Landslide and Sisters of the Moon. Don't like the studio versions.

tabruns 09-13-2011 06:24 PM

I picked "I Don't Want To Know" because Nicks herself has said she doesn't care much for the song. For the 2nd choice, went with "Sisters of the Moon" although I love the lyrics, always thought the music wasn't as haunting as Nicks usually is.

And I hereby demand that "You May Be The One" be included in this poll just because! :P hehehe

Live, it is great, but the Tusk version is very flat, the tempo is too slow, and the guitar is too quiet in my opinion.

The music to Sisters is not haunting? What song have I been listening to, then?!

Something that you think is haunting but is not. :D

To me, the song is about synch and if they can do it with the same spirit that they do SHN, it will be a winner.

But ... but .... the long creepy intro with the GDW guitars, the howling in the wind, the whole atmosphere, I mean, :shocked:hello???

MacShadowsBall 09-13-2011 10:10 PM

Yay!!!! Fleetwood Mac songs!

Gotta go with Silver Springs and Storms.

Eh Fine! I'll capitulate. I just think it could be more catchy than it is....to me "Sisters" has always been too guitar heavy. I'd like it a lot more if it were like the live version with the last verse and the "sister, brother, sister" refrain before the guitar freakout at the end.

PastelGravel 09-13-2011 10:27 PM

IDWTK is such a great song...why no love? I guess when you stack it up against all those amazing songs it is bound to fail:laugh:
