New NicksFix journal entry: 9/11/11
|
That was so beautiful.thank you. She's always there for everyone.Love you Stevie.
|
Those journal entries are so chilling. Really give a unique perspective on the tragedy. I read them yesterday and I teared up several times when reading all of the entries.
|
Thank you for posting...and now I am about to start crying. :(
|
I thought we might get one of these given the anniversary.
Thanks for sharing. |
All~ these~ stupid~ things~ are~ REALLY~ freaking~ annoying~ :p
|
I saw video of the people jumping. It's an image that's burned into memory. No one ever talks about that. Much too tragic. Way too sad. :(

Stevie~ uses~ them~ to~ death~ And~ it~ causes~ her~ fans~ to~ use~ them~ to~ an~ even~ worse~ degree~ and~ it's~ really~ annoying~ because~ they~ aren't~ supposed~ to~ be~ used~ as~ punctuation~ :p |

But they're so pretty. :p You know that's why she uses them. Jamie |
Well put, Stevie. Thank you for your thoughts and perspective. We love you!

BTW, Stevie's note is otherwise beautiful. - Jake |
Something in all of our hearts died that day ... and she is such a beautiful writer isn't she? I could feel her fear, pain, and tears. And I love the unique font, and these ~~~~~~~~~~~~ thingys too

My Dad called me last night about CBS.s re-airing the 9/11 special.Which I've seen already.I could not watch it again. As the memorial is open I hope Stevie will stop and say a couple of prayers when she finds time in her schedule..

Well I guess I'll play the role of Debbie Downer here, but I was pretty disappointed in these.
Yes, I know that Stevie didn't write them *for* us, or to please us, and that these are her thoughts that she, really very graciously, shares with us. But they're really just a verbatim recap of her previous 9/11 journal entries. No new insights, no new thoughts on *today* or on the anniversary. And it just seems a bit...I don't know...self-serving (which isn't out of the ordinary really for our girl) that she keeps bringing it all back to her (I think I just found the part about how she's now allergic to smoke and can sing in it after 9/11 to be a *bit* dramatic). And the "I was 20 minutes away" line. I totally get that the day, and being in NYC, affected her deeply...but the problems she brings up seem just...trivial in comparison. I'm glad so many here find this to be a moving tribute, though. |

I didn't think her post was as bad as all that. A few more details that gave more of the sense of what goes on around her on the road... who was there, what they were doing. And yes she mentions she was 20 mins away but she is clear that she didn't lose a loved one and was in a posh hotel being well catered-to....
She's talked about the Waldorf many times before, always about 'all the Presidents stay there' and how she stays in the same suites as presidents. That I did find a little annoying. We know you're a famous rock star. And I couldn't help but wonder if the Bosendorfer is part of the suite or was put there for her.... she often requests pianos be put in her suite. |

On the other hand, I was charmed that she posted it at all. She offers no new insights, but I haven't been impressed by many of the "insights" I've read over the last week. I think her intention was just to share her memories of a terrible day with her fans, and I'm touched that it matters to her that she do that. |
Ok so please call me stupid but I just realized that this was a new entry...today's been a long day.
About the entry, I think she actually put to words how many Americans felt yesterday. I know I did. Even though I was only 8 years old at the time of the attacks, I still remember every little detail. Including the weather, the looks on all of my teacher's faces and my mom not being able to tell me what happened through her tears. I think this is a really gracious thing Stevie did by sharing her diary entries with us. Yes, it might not be as deep as someone who was actually there, but she offers a lot of insight into what it was like to be so close yet so far away. I actually send her kudos for giving us an update. Thank you Stevie for your thoughts...greatly appreciated. |
Well I thought that was a beautiful piece, and I think that even though she did illustrate the finerys quite a bit, for me that only added to the idea of it.
Because I saw it as, this woman who was feeling on top of the world when she came to New York, looking forward to buying diamonds and spending the evenings in her luxurious suite, and then sering this horrific disaster and being completely humbled by it and so that's the little part of her that went down with the towers. And now she is reflecting on it in a never forget way. Just my thoughts on it :) |

I know what you mean, though. If I read the expression "transfers to the stage" one more time... |

Ah, your sig. I just noticed that today. I don't know where she said that. It might have been on Disney's Going Home, but I remember watching the video and crying when she made that comment. So beautiful. Michele |
Not to mention that this a journal entry, and generally, when you're writing in a journal, you're writing about yourself..
|
i was supposed to go with a old friend of mine to wtc because she never had been to the top. we were both going to play hookey that day and hang out. she changed her mind because she didn't wanna take off work from her new job. glad she did. *sigh*
i don't like to think about wtc because of all the memories i have there. a lot was taken from us all 10yrs ago and it still pisses me off! i try my BEST not to take the path train to wtc because i HATE seeing ppl (damn tourists) taking pics infront of, what was then called, ground zero and smiling n ish! i cussed someone out before behind that! i mean how many ppl you know grin and pose at gravesites! the guy said he never thought about it that way and apologized. i felt bad for cussing and i apologized to him for calling him, and his family, every name in the book but a child of God. i don't think i'll go to the memorial site ever. i don't like to. i cry. i don't watch the shows on tv about it. i don't like to. i cry. it still hurts and it will always hurt............us all. |

i imagine stevie dictating into a machine for karen's transcription
would be nice to read what she said/wrote in her own writing; the choice to keystroke lucida handwriting is IMO kind of lame. :sorry: |
Well at least she said attacks and not terrorist attacks. “I’ve been asleep for how long she says.”
