I just started reading "Stormss"......

And I am stopping every few paragraphs to laugh! This is great!!!!!

MacShadowsBall 09-05-2011 03:18 PM

I've never read this book, so I guess I need to buy it.

mottabam 09-05-2011 03:30 PM

I checked it out last year at my Library. I didn't do much laughing but it was an interestng read. Actually, I read the entire thing in less than a week. I'd recommend it.

GoldDustWoman22 09-05-2011 03:51 PM

That book is interesting...haha. Very debatable on some points...but there are some good funny stories. Wait till you get to where she talks about Stevie like she's the worst person in the world:roll eyes:. Very interesting...leave it at that.

ButterCookie 09-05-2011 04:23 PM

Love it when someone mentions that they're reading this because it means I get to say:

NOT THE GRANNY PANTIES!!!!!!!!!!

Moz 09-05-2011 05:41 PM

Wasn't there a part about a little dog eating someone's cocaine? I haven't read it but I remember hearing something like that when it came out.

Mm-hm. Stevie's dog Jenny. Apparently this happened with some regularity, and to Stevie's great amusement.

I'm not saying that Stevie's the worst person in the world, but seeing as she and Mick were having an affair while he was married to Jenny Boyd, the fact Stevie had a dog named Jenny seems...well (pardon the REALLY bad pun), bitchy.

I don't know if it's the same dog or not, but Stevie had a dog named Gin before she was even met Fleetwood Mac.

I know my grandfather used to call of his dogs Rex, so Stevie may have named several dogs Gin, Ginny, etc. or maybe it was the same dog. If she'd come into FM with that dog and suddenly changed it once she and Mick started sneaking around that would have raised some eyebrows: "Oh, this dog just looks more like a Bruce to me. I don't like the name Ginny anymore."

Me too. CAH paints herself a complete victim, but I'm sure parts of the book are true. I completely expected how she depicted Lindsey's temper!

WildHearted 09-06-2011 12:11 PM

Isn't Jenny the same dog that she used to incorporate into some of the Aspen stories?

My favourite bit - LB's meeting with Jagger in hotel lobby/reception! :D

What I would have given to see MJ's reaction!

The one that LB allegedly scooped up and flounced off with in the car back to LA? :D

Yep, that's the one.

For some reason I always imagined it being a poodle but I'm not sure if that's just something I imagined up or not.

Speaking of poodles, what was that black poodle's name? Whose dog was that? It's in some pictures with Stevie and some with Lindsey from the Tusk video shoot.

Yeah, seems like he was always grabbing the dog and her car and going back to LA. If that dog could talk, what stories she'd tell...

In Sausalito, I know she said he took her car and went back, but did he take the dog too?

There was an Afghan called 'Branwen' as some point as well, Branwen being the sister of Rhiannon in the Mfwannywaythingmabob thingy myth.

And if she fed that dog cocaine and was amused by it--well, I have no words for what I feel right now.

My recollection is that the dog got it by accident. But it must've been left somewhere where it could get it by accident. And I do think Stevie thought it was a funny story, if not a funny event. Others might remember more, though, or differently. I don't have the book to hand or I'd post the actual passage that speaks about it.

It's as true as any autobiography.

Oh, you know maybe not - but I remember seeing the photo at the Record Plant and Stevie was holding the dog. I just assumed whenever they fought and Lindsey wanted to storm out she always said, "Fine!" and insisted he take the dog too since she would be traveling by bus or plane.

bombaysaffires 09-08-2011 07:02 PM

The dog was Ginny, and she was a poodle. Lindsey drove her in the car back to LA from Aspen. (I've got a cassette of the interview where she tells this story). She was also the same dog who got spayed and Stevie sent by plane to her mom's in Phoenix afterwards (mentioned in one of the Rolling Stone interviews in the 70s)

Is this the same poodle that was at the Tusk video shoot? There's a picture of Stevie holding it that's B&W, and then a picture of Lindsey sitting with it on a lawn.

Still looking for the Record Plant photos...

WildHearted 09-08-2011 10:34 PM

Is the Tusk dog Lindsey's dog, then? Didn't he have a poodle?

So many dogs. Man.

CADreaming 09-08-2011 10:37 PM

^I don't know who the Tusk dog belonged to. I assumed it was Stevie's.

It seems that Ginny lived quite a long time - at least 10 years. I found an article from 1980 that she had a hysterectomy. Poor thing. She probably had a rough life. LOL.

bombaysaffires 09-08-2011 10:41 PM

Pretty sure the little white poodle is Ginny. Don't know who the large black poodle is.

Don't know what he had in the old days, but Lindsey had a big poodle, up until recently (don't know if its still alive). Kristen has photographed her designs with the poodle in the background.

SummerlongBoots 09-09-2011 12:06 AM

From page 112 and 113 of Storms.

(Lindsey supposedly said)

"Hey, Carol, you should have asked Stevie if she was sure it was the heat in her sunroom or if maybe 'little Jenny' had just OD'd on blow." And we started to laugh all over again. Stevie's poodle Jenny was infamous for its love of cocaine. Stevie had told many a story backstage of her poodle's fondness for the taste of blow. She said that she couldnt leave a packet on any of her tables at home --- if she did, the dog would eat it, paper and all --- and then run around in little energetic circles.

I know. I thought it was rather emasculating, especially since John commented on it. He mentioned Stevie's dog by name and then said, "I think Lindsey's got a big poodle." Way to impress the guys in the locker room, Lindsey!

And the poodle's really proud of himself. He's like: "Family photo shoot? I got this!"

Mmhmm, as if Lindsey would have had to say, "Hey, Carol." That implies she wasn't stuck to him like a conjoined twin at that moment, and she may have ventured a few feet away from him, causing him to call her name to get her attention. Dialogue recall FAIL.

I think Mr. Poodle is watching his Daddy play croquet on the lawn!

Poodles AND croquet - definitely not rock 'n roll!!!!!!

Gorgeous pooch though.

fumidesigns 09-10-2011 01:51 PM

Ok so I'm done. Ummmmmmmm funny read for the most part. Enjoyed the gossip. A few questions tho:

1. Is this chick crazy!?
2. Is/was LB abusive?
3. Are her and Sara Fleetwood still friends?
4. Is this chick crazy?!

mezzoforte 09-10-2011 01:59 PM

1. Is this chick crazy!?

Mileage will vary, but I don't think so. Not a very good writer or appealing heroine, but not crazy.

2. Is/was LB abusive?

I think he was, yes. Obviously, I have no way of knowing.

3. Are her and Sara Fleetwood still friends?

From what I've heard, they don't really keep in touch, but aren't on bad terms.
