Stevie Talks About "Irene"

Stevie Nicks Gives Hurricane Warning: "Get Behind that Wind!"

Warner Bros. RecordsIn her classic song "Rihannon," Stevie Nicks sang about a woman who was "taken by the wind." But now, as Hurricane Irene bears down on the U.S., Stevie is warning folks to steer clear.

Speaking to ABC News Radio after her appearance in New York City's Central Park as part of Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series, Stevie cautioned, "Rihannon says: 'Stay out of that wind!' And be careful and be prepared and don't take it for granted." Noting that New York City's had a bit of a rough week, she added, "Lookit, there was just an earthquake here! I live in L.A., and we keep waiting for another big one, and there was just one here. So everybody needs to be very careful, and get behind that wind."

The hurricane is affecting Stevie's travel plans -- she usually only travels by jet, but Friday, because of the hurricane, she's taking a bus from New York City to her next concert stop Saturday in Bethel, NY, which is near Woodstock. Then, she'll travel by bus on to Boston for her show there on Monday. She's on tour promoting her new album In Your Dreams -- on GMA, she performed her latest single from that album, "For What It's Worth," as well as "Landslide."

FWIW Part II!!

Glad to see she's plotting out the trek for the next two shows.

Perfect Natural FX

I saw a rough, amateur video of Stevie doing Soldiers Angel and read John Fogerty was going to pull the plug on the concert....but, after watching Stevie perform as well as seemingly conjuring up the strong wind...he was. Awestruck. The winds rose when she hit the stage and stopped after her set.

Spooky.

Nature is awesome...and must be a woman...

Unpredictable.

Should we through fine Swiss Chocolate at Hurricanee Irene? Shes a woman scorned.

Looked out the window

As I watched the cars fly by

I hear "Irene" and I start to cry

What she did was, she stopped my jet

I won't forget it

They said "Even if you - wear your Frankens"

Pack up your shawls and tie them on your head ...

Drive up to Boston with good intentions

You'll still get wet, for what it's worth. :p

Wow. She's going on with the show. Hopefully tomorrow night isn't "You fill the room with the wind and the rain and the water."

FWIW II is great, I needed a laugh. I'm down here in beaufort county, north carolina right smack in the middle of the coastal mainland at the mouth of the pamlico sound. I've lived through alot of hurricanes but not one quite like Irene. We had a major flood during hurricane floyd in 1999, but never alot of sustained winds with any of them. I'm under a mandatory evacuation, but I'm going to be stupid and stay put with my animals and my elderly mother. Wish us luck my fellow ledgie's.....
Oh......and MAMA, while your riding the rails up there in New York/Boston please be safe and send us some major good luck vibes so we can ride out the storm from behind the wind. Gotta make it thru so we can see your band play sept.3...:]

Yous said, even if I wear my raincoat...
came out to your show
sat down in my chair
pulled out my snorkle....
under 9 foot waves....i wont forget it...

What you did was...stayed in your suite...
while i died and drowned...

But it was all worth it...
just because it was hard...
and i was clueless

Now Im like Ophelia
Ophelia...

I pray for the angels to surround and protect you...your Mum...and the animals...

May God put his light over you and all...like a dome...
and the angels will deflect all danger...and fear.

Thank you so very much Jim ....and all the best to you and all the others in areas up north that may be impacted by Irene.

Stevie' s so funny- "Rhiannon says, stay out of the wind!"

Reminds me of - Woodsy Owl says, "Give a hoot, don't pollute!"

This looks like better news for you Fairydust: I just got a weatherbug alert, I couldn't right click and save image :( but it looks like we are under a hurricane advisory now vs warning.

SummerlongBoots 08-26-2011 06:13 PM

Stay safe Ledgies and please keep us posted.

Glad you all liked FWIW Part Deux. :D

I take requests, lol.

Outside the Rain next??

GoldDustWoman22 08-26-2011 07:07 PM

Thanks so much for FWIW pt 2!! Still laughing !

The whole "Irene" thing is kind of an ironic situation for me. I'm from Florida and have been through a heck load of hurricanes. Then this weekend I'm moving to NY for college and the hurricane decides to hit NY the day I move in....wonderful! So if the bad weather is my fault I sincerely apologize!

Macfanforever 08-26-2011 07:15 PM

I love the part two.She will go do the shows. Now who calls the shots.

Outside Irene
Still the bus gets a leak
So I'm drying

Freak out of the night
My mascara's all streaked
Would you dry me only?

And I'm tired of
I'm tired of drying . . .

I could only wish we here (washington, nc) have a 90% chance of substained winds of 50 mph plus with gusts up to 90mph. Storm surge 10ft.... about 12-14 inches of rain, does look better for virginia.

SaidSomething 08-26-2011 08:25 PM

you are good

Thank you for your poetry...comedy is an art and the most difficult to play. Timing, spontenat, slapstick....many have tried to study but, you have it or you dont.

It is really quiet, still, hot and humid here. I live on a big hill in a valley near the Mystic River and Lake...it always floods. Im not far from the ocean but far enough, i hope. We have lots of big trees like oak and willow...birch. Im staying at my mums in a Boston Suburb...away from Brookline which is a part of Boston. Thanks for your kind words...its so calm...

Phoenixgypsy 08-26-2011 11:28 PM

Maybe Stevie will write a song about Irene and release it in about 10 years? Like she did with "New Orleans"!!

SummerlongBoots 08-27-2011 06:30 PM

Hope all the Ledgies in the path of Irene today are okay.

Fairydust, please check in if you can.

I see that Morgana posted, so that's a good thing.

SummerlongBoots 08-27-2011 08:04 PM

What Stevie was really thinking . . .

Fariydust alive and well, just got power back out since 6:30 sat morning. Never seen winds like that before, there are hundreds of trees down. No major damage at my house, thank goodness the water only got up to my second step. I've lived here in hurricane alley all my life, Irene was most certainly a major B#TCH. Thanks for the well wishes.
Hope everyone else fair ok as well......Hopefully this time next week I will still be on a Stevie high from the concert in Bristow......

Morgana 08-28-2011 09:44 PM

  So glad you are OK Fairydust!
