Ok wow. I cannot believe I just saw Stevie live...I'm in awe of just how amazing she is live! She was better than anything I could have imagined! She killed it last night! I could not have asked for a better first concert. I totally wrote this last night but just got home and wanted to share it with you guys! Ok here is my full account:
I got ready at my aunts house which was good because it gave me some time to be calm and collected before the show. I had been listening to Stevie music all day and it was really helping me get into Stevie world before the show! So after I had gotten ready we were waiting for my mom's friend to pick us up. Now, she was supposed to pick us up at 6 so we could leave for Riverbend and have enough time to buy souvenirs and everything. Well she ended up getting lost on the way to my aunt's house so we ended up leaving at 6:45. Great. We also ended up getting lost on the way there. Needless to say it was all worth it in the end. But in the moment I was totally freaking out.
When we finally got to the venue I separated from my mom and Donna (her friend) and waited in a huge line for the gift shop...when I finally got there I got two shirts (The black IYD one and the Wild Heart shirt) which later got stolen (more on that in a bit). After I bought my items Michael Grimm was already on stage so I headed to my seat. I had an awesome view of the stage! I was so ready to see Stevie! Michael's set was actually pretty good...it definitely had an "organic" feel to it. Lindsey would be proud of me for using that word! And he seemed particularly grateful to be there. After his set was over I was kind of sitting and talking to a few of the people next to me when I saw a group of people look like they could be ledgies! Immediately I started getting really excited and mustered up the courage to see if they were...I walked over and was like "Hi this might be a really weird question but are you guys from the ledge?" they said yes and it was so awesome to meet you guys...thanks for being so nice and it was fun to have some people to share the concert with:nod:! I really, really wish I could have gone to the after party with you all...but unfortunately that was kind of out of my control.
Ok so finally it was time for Stevie to come out onstage. I'm not even joking when I saw her walk out I got a little teared up. They didn't play "I Gotta Feelin'" tonight...at least not the album version. They just started up with "Stand Back and she made her grand entrance! Stand Back was amazing!! That song is a really good opener and definitely gets the crowd going! Unfortunately it was at this point that two obnoxiously drunk guys decided to take their places next to me...wonderful right? I decided that I was just going to ignore it and that did work up to a certain point. OK onto the next song...Secret Love. This song was amazing live...I thought I had kind of tired of it because of all the promotion she did for it when the album first came out...uh uh...no way. I was totally rocking out. And actually we did have a really good crowd here in Cincy...they were all for the most part totally enthusiastic about her new songs and she had some pretty good sing a longs for some of them which was totally awesome! Anyways after "Secret Love" came dreams which she introduced as the "only #1 single Fleetwood Mac ever had" lol and that she had a "plaque on her wall of #1 single". Ok now I know a lot of people on this board have tired of "Dreams" but that song is still relatively (4 months) new to me so I was totally looking forward to it, being one of the first songs I knew from Stevie/FM and also the top most played song on my ipod ever. So it's a really special song to me and I was totally looking forward to it. The song was going amazingly well and I was totally into the vibe of it and then one of the drunken idiots decided to introduce himself to me. In the middle of a song. And then he did it with the other people in my row...while Stevie was singing. Umm...I'm sorry sir you don't speak when someone is performing. Much less when Stevie freaking NIcks is up there singing. I don't know who taught you manners but seriously. And whenever they played a new song him and his friend sat down. During every single song. It was annoying....uggh really people? OK rant over. For What It's Worth was just so beautiful...the music video looks phenomenal btw. I waited until tonight to see it because I wanted to be suprised and it was totally worth it she looks stunning in the video and her voice on the song tonight was just pure magic. And also many, many people seemed to be singing along to FWIW and it seemed to make her very happy!! OK Gold Dust Woman was the next song and let me just say: she rocked it!! Totally became the Gold Dust Woman for this performance. But let me just say that while the intro was going on I started to dance and one of the drunk guys said " Now this is a real Stevie song"...which made me want to punch him in the face and then he talked to me and said "You have great moves" he was not exactly being subtle in his voice either and I was not about to get a death glare from Stevie so I gave him a death glare of my own which shut him up for pretty much the rest of the night. So Gold Dust Woman was incredible and afterwards she threw her gold shawl over to the drum set and when it landed right on it the audience applauded and she looked so proud of herself for throwing it on the drum kit:D! I'm pretty sure I'm getting the order of these completely wrong but it is late so bear with me...ok. Moonlight was incredible!! So amazing. I know people were saying that there were some problems with the live mix but tonight she sounded incredible!! I', honestly kind of ashamed to admit this but one of the most emotional moments of the evening was actually "Landslide". It WAS the first song that really got me into FM/Stevie so I guess the fact that I was actually there seeing her perform that song live was just too surreal for me to even comprehend. Especially since I had never seen the video before of her through the years so I got this sense of emotion at seeing how far she has in fact come and how awesome it is that she is still performing and inspiring people to this day. I also think it may have been due to the fact that I am leaving for NY for college this friday the lyrics just fit so perfectly right now!! Soldier's Angel...easily the highlight of my night! Just the pure, raw emotion she puts into that song makes it incredible and to hear her sing with that much passion for a song and an equally great cause is just awesome. Rhiannon - she rocked it. It was such an intense Rhiannon that it almost reminded me of the old days...she became Rhiannon tonight guys!! She was totally rocking out. Ghosts Are Gone...I love this song. I constantly rock out to this song at home because sometimes this is just the kind of song you need to listen to on certain days ;). And you can totally tell that she loves performing it because she ROCKED OUT big time!!! That tambourine did not know what happened to it by the end of the song! OK so this might be a total exaggeration but during "Ghosts are Gone" I was totally rocking out to this song and just dancing and stuff...many people were standing but I could've sworn that Stevie looked my way and saw me dancing and smiled at me...but this could all very well be delusions of grandeur on my part. But it was cool to maybe think that we might have had a teeny moment. And at the end of "Ghosts Are Gone" she told everyone to "go out and buy a tambourine and practice the tambourine in your living room to that song." She said that that is how she learned to play and that it might drive all of your friends away but it didn't matter because you knew how to play tambourine !! Annabel Lee was amazing! It was funny because while introducing it she told the audience that this song was co written by Edgar Allen Poe, to which the audience gave an EXTREMELY enthusiastic response  and Stevie than proceeded to play both herself and Edgar in a conversation between the two of them:lol:! And then I think she mentioned something about love being a train wreck...anyone who was there who understood what she said right before she sang the song? OK for the next one she announced that she had a surprise for all of us...Leather and Lace! She introduced her vocal coach and said some very sweet things about him...and then she said that "he had been their vocal coach for 10 years...since 1997...or wait more than 10 years...10 to 15....I'm not good at math!" The song was incredible and Steve is an amazing singer! The harmonies worked out perfectly and it was such a treat to hear it live. After it was over she said something about the associates and a tent...I'm assuming it meant that it was close to curfew time and they were telling her to wrap it up...either way she did a mad dash back to the dressing room. Once the drum solos before the Edge started people immediately started to rush the stage. I quickly went up to join. I ended up in the second row from the stage...I didn't get the edge hand touch but just being able to be there and take it all in was precious. Plus not getting the hand hold just gives me another good excuse to go to a show right ;)? Anyways congrats to all the Ledgies that got it...that's awesome and I'm so thrilled for you!! Love Is...what an amazing ballad. It was actually my first time ever hearing it tonight and I thought it was such a profound, true song that anybody could probably find relatable. One thing when she was introducing "Love Is..." she was talking about how both Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks (and then she said "like their two separate people" haha) both ended their shows with a ballad as sort of a goodnight kiss...everyone in the audience cheered and Stevie sort of laughed and said "only us". <3
Over all, I could not have asked for a better experience. Stevie was on fire tonight!! I honestly felt like I was the only one she was singing to at the time because her connection with the audience is so vast. I totally felt like I got to spend two hours with Stevie just totally rocking out ! She is truly a performer and a total "Wild Heart"...this concert made me love and respect her even more than I already did. I love you Stevie...your the poet in my heart:angel:
