Any information about shows in the West?

Does anyone have any kind of information about Stevie doing any dates in the west?
Looking at her schedule, Sept 4th is her last US date in NY then off to Australia starting the 19th of November. So that leaves a lot of Sept and all of Oct open, but I heard she may be going to Europe as well.
Any info out there at all??

RockAlot 08-05-2011 01:53 PM

That was one of the question I wanted to ask at the CD signing but didn't as I was so in LaLa land! I keep thinking she will do at least a couple here in Calif. but I'm now starting to even doubt myself!!!

golden braid 08-05-2011 03:34 PM

Someone I was with asked and Stevie said no shows right now because of the Rod tour. I hope she'll do something next summer.

LilyRose 08-05-2011 03:49 PM

Hmmm, what does the Rod tour have to do with this album??

RockAlot 08-05-2011 04:07 PM

So she is going back on the road with Rod?

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

She can't mean that...she must mean that she "saturated" the westcoast with the Rod shows??? Must mean that.

I think that's what she means, as well.

BombaySapphire3 08-05-2011 04:30 PM

They only played Oakland up here. She could do a couple smaller sized venues in San Francisco and San Jose which I'm sure would sell out .There are plenty of old hippies and gay folks that would still pay to see her I'm sure.

Yeah, I would love for her to actually play in my area... even my coast would be fine :p I'm crazy and flying around anyway but I agree with this. I'd love to see her play a smaller venue!

After the Wiltern show I am convinced she should never play anything bigger. An intimate theater is so well suited to her style.

San Jose's Civic Auditorium and Center for the Performing Arts would both be amazing venues to see a Stevie show at!

And they're both literally down the street from her old Alma Mater...

Sorry I didn't explain myself well but this is what I meant. She has already done too many shows here when she toured with Rod.

pattyfan 08-06-2011 10:43 AM

Stevie, come on. :) We in the Bay Area only had one choice, and that was to shell out the big bucks to see an abbreviated set with only one new song (Secret Love). :( And then we would have had to sit through Rod's set or leave. Can I be super cheesy here and say Reconsider Me(Us)? :)

I don't think she did too many california shows with Rod- Oakland, and 2 back to back, overpriced Hollywood Bowl shows?? Usually, she ALWAYS hits Orange and San Diego counties, but she didn't with Rod. She could totally do those this time around, and do well! What the hell is her management thinking?? Besides, the Rod thing has nothing to do with this tour.
Lastly, there are cities that she's doing for this tour that she did with Rod...so what she said doesn't make logical sense.

Wildheart82 08-06-2011 12:28 PM

At the signing I asked Stevie to draw a wildheart on my litho. She started telling me about some new merchandise that was going to be available during the tour. I'm sorry but I don't remember what it was now for the life of me, but I said I couldn't go on the tour because I was back in school and there was no west coast dates. She said well you know we can't do that because of Rod and she reiterated that several times saying you know you just can't do that talking about market saturation. During this time, I had handed my phone to Marisa to take pictures during my signing, but now I wish I had held my phone and just recorded our conversation so I would have that, can't believe I didn't think about that sooner. But she definitely said no west coast dates:(

FM77 08-06-2011 02:47 PM

I also got a very firm "no" a few weeks ago on the west coast inquiry. I was at the Wiltern show and asked if they were working on putting that on DVD or at least on PBS or something. In my mind, that show was flawless. I was told that night in LA and again a few weeks ago, that they would like to do that show again--on the west coast and at a specific venue--and film it with Soundstage or something. I won't name the venue but it isn't the Wiltern. With Lindsey touring, I'm not sure he would be available again but maybe they could use his performance from the Wiltern.

Nothing has been confirmed; I think this is a bit of a long-shot as I get the impression the Wiltern was done for fun and this new idea will be contingent on PBS interest and investment to film. If the tour isn't really catching fire, they may have a hard time getting that kind of commitment and support.

If they essentially redo the Wiltern, I'll be there again. That was so worth every penny spent.

ZOMG this needs to happen!

But I would love it to happen in San Francisco. She's always talking about how much she loved the Bay Area when she lived here, the area obviously holds great meaning and memories for her. I just think it would be extra special for her to film something up here in a theater akin to The Wiltern.

You're in Palo Alto?! I work in Menlo Park! We should organize a Bay Area Ledgie gathering sometime!

Anyway... this is a GREAT idea. I think I'd die if she played a venue like the Fillmore.

Really!? I'm totally down for a Bay Area Ledgie meetup!

The Fillmore would be perfection.

UnwindedDreams 08-06-2011 06:14 PM

Beyonce's doing 4 shows at roseland and performing her new album in its entirety each night to a standing room audience. Stevie should do something like that or just one show. Perform 14 tracks including My Heart and if she wanted throw some other songs in too. Webster Hall would have been perfect for this.

Heartboy 08-06-2011 06:28 PM

I thought they did film at 'The Wiltern' and it will be part of the 'In Your Dreams' DOC?

Oh, noone mentioned Seattle, She & Rod were there as well. I agree about more west coasts dates, I'd love to see her. I can't go all over the ****in' country to see her like alot of people can and do! :p

FM77 08-06-2011 11:00 PM

They did film at the Wiltern. I think that show went so well that they got the idea then to do this at this other venue. I was told this backstage at the Wiltern show and it was brought up again a few weeks ago. It still hasn't been set up; they are still trying to get it to happen. As I said, it seems like a long shot because no real progress has happened from May to July but you never know. I hope it does.

Even though it would be a "must see" event, I am still not sure they could replicate the magic of the Wiltern show.

Moz 08-07-2011 01:33 AM

This would be a good time to come to Canada - that is, anywhere except Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, or Vancouver. :wavey: It blows my mind that people in much more populated areas complain about not being able to see certain bands when other people live in the middle of nowhere (not referring to anyone on the Ledge), which means little to no concerts.

THINKABOUTIT 08-07-2011 01:42 AM

Gina...I hear you :)
I also wonder if an LA/Orange County/San Diego date will be squeezed in suddenly, at the end of the US leg? It has happened so many times before folks; just saying ;)

The Wiltern, I agree, was PERFECT! WONDERFUL!! She is best in small venues. I so don't like the whole large venue idea, although it's awesome to see so may show up, since those shows tend to have more strictly 'Mac' fans, who keep yelling out Mac songs for her to perform LOL. The larger shows also tend to have the people who love Stevie only for fricken "Landslide" & "Rhiannon" LOL....Just my humble High school teacher opinion ;)

StandbackStevie 08-07-2011 02:45 AM

I hope or rather Stevie extend her In Your Dreams Tour into Spring and Summer 2012 rather than see another FM tour if she does anything with FM it should be a new cd and tour I think if no new album she should extend her tour thru next year.I hope but Iread else where she is planning an FM tour maybe a new album with them.

StandbackStevie 08-07-2011 02:46 AM

The economy is so bad in the world today never seen it this bad its really scary.

Thats going to continue until all the corruption and the politics stop.
The way I see it. It will never end.Oh on Stevie and touring.I would love to see her continue next year.If the FM thing was not going to happen.Again .I think Stevie should of said no about joiining Rod on tour. This through her off on her IYD release. It was a big mistake .the way I see It.She would of not get sick like she did.

SapphireSister 08-07-2011 10:39 AM

WTF does opening for Rod Stewart have to do with promoting IYD?? :distress:

I agree with this, hoping she will extend the tour. But I have a feeling that if this happnes, it will be last minute! Most of us have jobs and need to plan for time off! :distress:

Oh, who am I kidding, I'll be at a Stevie show anywhere in California with a half day's notice! Ha.

;)

It's kind of funny because I think his fans who saw her open might be more inclined to go to one of her solo shows now, not less. They got a sample and now I think they might be up for more, especially if they hear she might be doing new music and not just the same songs she sang before Rod came out.

As for her fans, being on this board, we know a lot of people who made the choice not to go to see her open for Rod, because the setlist would be shorter. They posted that they decided to wait until she returned to their city on her own.

So, I don't think she has saturated the market, her market, by opening for Rod.

Michele

If only Stevie and her people could read this and agree...

Last time Stevie listened to her people it took her 10 years to do a solo album. She needs to not listen to her people or better yet get new people.

I'm sorry you guys on the west coast are being excluded. I hope there are some late breaking additions for you.

I think us here in the west coast will always be on Stevie's list, so I'm confident we'll get our share of shows. I'm happy she shares these shows with everybody!

Of couse you'd say that, you live in Cali & she always plays there! Haven't you already seen her a few times? Let people in other states get a chance, not just california!

To be fair, he did say "west coast", not just California.
