Lindsey Buckingham to tour the UK in December

Just heard from my little birdie that Lindsey plans on playing in the UK in December. Tour dates are still being worked on.

Peestie 07-29-2011 05:24 AM

Oh. Hell. Yes.

Thanks for the heads up. I hope all the plans pan out and he does make it over here!

I wonder how many gigs I can make it to...

McTrouble 07-29-2011 05:41 AM

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!:shocked::shocked::eek::eek:

Now I am dreading my husband coming home from work today and breaking this news to him - OMG, the money we have spent in booking our trip to California! :distress:

And people kept telling me there was no chance he'd tour here - not that I'm blaming anyone, who really knew what he'd do?

I think I'm in trouble! Wish me luck.......

poetinmyheart 07-29-2011 05:43 AM

Yes!!!!!! Exciting :]

I almost booked a trip to California as well but I was too busy with work when the tickets were released to even think about it. If nothing else you'll get a chance to spend time doing tourist-y things and have some Lindsey Buckingham thrown in!

Yes, at least we booked a whole week in Anaheim to make it into a holiday so we can do the whole Disneyland/Universal Studios/Hollywood things as well - but still, I am shaking and trembling a little!!!!!

Think I should push my luck and mention about seeing him here as well?

Maybe I should keep quiet for a little while!

At least wait until some dates are announced before bringing it up. Just plead ignorance until then. :p

If they're in December then there's a chance some could clash with my graduation so I'm just hoping it's the ones I couldn't make it to will be around then.

I'm hoping he'll play Belfast (or even Dublin would be good) but I'm not holding out much hope. Belfast does have a couple of nice venues that'd suit him well though.

Phil Lee 07-29-2011 06:07 AM

I really hope you're right.

Well, if it does happen, I wish you (and all Lindsey fans this side of The Pond) good luck in getting good tickets!

Amoscascott, That is some bird you have got there!! How did you hear his??

I will be definately going to all of the Ireland Concerts and as many of the UK ones as I possibly can.
This is awsome news.
Ill believe it more when I see actual dates though.

I wondered why Stevie said Lindsey was touring til Christmas. Cool news.

Ditto on the Ireland dates, though to be completely honest I doubt there will be any. If/when the dates are announced they'll probably all be on the mainland. Too many artists never make it across the Irish sea, but I can hope!

AliceLover 07-29-2011 08:28 AM

I could not be more happy for you guys! You totally deserve some Liddy solo action!

Silver Springs 07-29-2011 09:57 AM

I am so excited that it's beyond words at this point. I feel bad for accusing him of not caring about his British fans now :(

Wait until the dates are announced. Maybe your outrage can still be vindicated.:thumbsup:

I hope he plays a few General Admission shows instead of all seated because they tend to have a more lively atmosphere.

Madness Fades 07-29-2011 02:32 PM

I think this would be a great set list for UK and Ireland taking into account Lindsey has never been here:

1) Second Hand News
2) Seeds We Sow
3) Trouble
4) Dont Look Down
5) The way Love Goes
6) Big Love
7) Never Going Back Again
8) Im so afraid
9) Eyes of the World -----or----- Im so Afraid
10) I Know Im not Wrong
11) Countdown
12) Right place to Fade
13) Illumination
14) Bleed to Love Her ----- or ----- Never Going Back Again
15) Go Insane (original version)
16) In our own Time
17) Holiday Road
18) Tusk
19) Go Your Own Way
20) World Turning
21) She Smiled Sweetly

Now there you go lindsey, all the hard work is done for you now come and sing them.

I can hear the Show announcement now: Ladies and Gentlemen, can you please give a warm welcome to Lindsey Buckingham

The show begins.......
....and the band played on

nice!! wouldn't mind setlist like that in the US either! just replace countdown with you do or you don't, and add walk a thin line, maybe take out world turning and add try for the sun so UTS is represented and this would be almost ideal setlist as far as i'm concerned.:]

EDIT: actually, i need to hear Underground too - very appropriate now when he's putting CD out on his own:nod:... and Wait for you might be nice. and take out I know i'm not wrong and replace with Come or Murrow... and he's gone back to acoustic Go insane which would probably fit better b/c the list is very heavily rocking as you have it, and he likes to do at least 5-6 songs solo. i don't like Trouble much but i understand it has to be in as his biggest solo hit (if one does not count holiday road which is not really needed for the US part of the tour). i would probably add back in End of time. i really hope he does all these new songs though, as you have them in your proposed set list (glad to see you don't have Stars there:cool: - that's the one i'd leave out too).

This is the year! As popular as FM is in Ireland, Lindsey is well aware, and I expect him to grace your shores in 2011.

He'll whip fans into a frenzy in anticipation of the Big Mac world tour soon to follow. :D

Silver Springs 07-30-2011 04:47 AM

I don't mind in the slightest what he plays, just as long as Down On Rodeo sneaks onto the playlist. It would be wonderful to hear D.W. Suite but I wouldn't hold my breath. Has he ever performed this live? Or is it just one of those songs every band has (R.E.M.s "Leave", for example) that is confined solely to Tape/CD/Vinyl/Mp3/Whatever..?

Yes Bee!! If Down on Rodeo isn't on there... Not holding my breath for D.W. Suite though it's great, or anything from Go Insane except the title track for that matter. I don't think he's played anything from that album except the title track live ever  Which is a shame cause I looove it. Slow Dancing could work acoustically.

elle 07-30-2011 08:38 AM

For Silver Springs and RickRobert - you've probably already seen this from our fellow ledgie youtube channel - DOR live 2006:

THIS.

He could pair it with the acoustic Go Insane, since they have the same guitar style.

I don't usually watch the Mac channels, so this was a lovely video to wake up to. Me and the Apple I was whooping into enjoyed it immensely :p

As a DVD will be coming out this year of the Saban performance, I was thinking that the set list he played there would be pretty much fixed for his tour?

If this is the case, Rodeo won't be featured!:distress:

Of course, what do I know - it could be changed completely!

Lindsey changes his setlist up though, right? Like I was really suprised when I heard he does Bwana and Turn It On live!

He doesn't really. On the GOS tour, I think he only swapped in one or two different songs the entire time.

This is HUGELY exciting!! However, while I don't doubt the word of the original poster I have learnt over the years to wait until there is an official announcement with dates and sale times etc before getting too excited. This is especially true for artists who rarely/never play the UK. Rest assured I'll be waiting esxcitedly like eveone else for such news though!

I don't suppose the person who started this thread could maybe give a little more info? How/where they heard this etc, just so we have a better idea of how things stand?

I'm sure it is but can you please give us a little more information? I'#m not asking you to divulge names or anything of course but please, just something that we can rely on and not get over-excited for dates like this with nhing to back them up. Thanks.

Madness Fades 08-21-2011 06:59 AM

You're all just gonna have to believe me. Its no sweat if you choose not to though. It hardly matters.
Remember I was the one who was personally told 3 years ago that this would never ever happen, not in a million years, too much red tape.
So I guess in a way I ws only telling you what I was told at the time. I didnt lie i just told you what I knew from a reliable source
Things appear to have changed because now we know otherwise. Now I am telling you Lindsey will be in London in the 19th December. Once again a vry very reliable source. so lets just hope the plane doesnt crash.

Peestie 08-21-2011 07:03 AM

19th December... Hmmm, I'm guess that he'll be doing other dates as well. It's not worth his time to do a single date but if he does I'll be there!

Yeah thats a Monday night, so theres bound to be a few other dates for sure. I wouldnt doubt it.
If i were to guess and make something up I would say he will do 6 venues.

Manchester, Glascow, London, Birmingham, Dublin, Belfast.

I would defo be gong to at lest 3 shows if that was the locations

I don't think know about Dublin and Belfast. People forget there's another island beside Great Britain all too frequently... :distress: If he played Belfast I'd love, love, love him to do the Spring & Airbrake. It's tiny but it's one of the best venues in Belfast. I saw Peter Green (and numerous others) there and it's always a great vibe. More realistically he'd play the Ulster Hall or Waterfront though.

Depending on what other dates may or may not surface I'll be going to as many as possible. Thanks for the heads up, Madness! :D

shackin'up 08-21-2011 10:23 AM

If there's anyone over here that I'd believe on a unofficial statement it's Madness Fades. I'm going to check my vacationschedule immediately.... Thanks for this awesome news!

Really! Do you have to talk about planes crashing? I've to go to California and back yet and I'm terrified of flying!
