more DC area dates (besides just a place off baltimore beltway) would be nice...

I totally second this. For your sake and because I have life-long friends there and would like to visit;-) Plus, I love Rhode Island.

Second leg, yay! Although, he could wait a month or two so I can gather together the spare change from under the cushions of everyone I know:lol:

Seconded... I'd wanted to try and go to this tour in the US but didn't get in gear soon enough. Now I'm not sure I can go because I'll be starting a PhD around the time and can't exactly take a week or two off in the first month...

He'd better not come to England/Europe now that I've gone to all the expense of a California show!!!!!

Just kidding, of course I want him to come to England/Ireland/Scotland/Europe for everyone who can't get over to the States.

I'd just see him again when I got back from the USA! :D

I'd love this too but we'd be lucky. He's just like Stevie for forgetting he has fans outwith the US. Boo!

I don't think he forgets. I think he'd lose a ton of money. He doesn't have a massive solo audience in the US, I can't imagine (on paper, at least) he'd have more in Europe. Now, being an ornery old soul, I would try one or two dates, just to see if European audiences would show up faster than US audiences. Wouldn't be as much of a loss as a full tour and he might be pleasantly surprised.

I've said it before but all those FM fans who scream for Lindsey and trample over everyone in their way to get to him on stage, are not willing to shell out 1/4 of FM prices to see him solo. Either that, or they still don't know his name.

It's a shame.

id love it if he showed up with stevie in australia in december :)

Lindsey fans please come to Salina show!

I’m a long-time lurker and new member here. I live in Salina, Kansas, and I’m asking the devoted Lindsey fans to consider coming to his Saturday 11/12 show here. I saw Lindsey 3 times on his last 2 tours – Kansas City 2x and Denver (that was an 8 hour drive!) My husband and I were just discussing how much fun we had and wishing he would come as close as Kansas City, when I opened my local paper to see him booked at our own Stiefel Theatre! I am still in shock.

The theatre seats 1,287 people and is very intimate. There aren’t any bad seats in the house. When I was a kid, it was used as a movie theatre. In the last few years I’ve seen some big acts sell out (Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Martin) and some others not (Kenny Loggins, John Corbett). Salina is a SMALL town of less than 50,000 people, so unless the performer if big enough to draw from surrounding areas like Wichita (90 miles away), some concerts don’t sell out. Local business people heavily subsidize the cost of shows and literally get 5 minute recognitions by the theatre director before the show starts.

I hope there’s a great crowd for Lindsey, but that’s why I’m appealing to the Ledgies here to consider coming to this show. Salina is at the crossroads of Interstates I-135 and I-70, and we also have an airport with service from KC. We have several nice hotels and restaurants. No, I don’t work for the Chamber of Commerce or the theatre. I have just gotten great info from The Ledge over the years and want to contribute (finally) and hopefully bring some real Lindsey fans to the show.

Great sales pitch!

And lucky you, having seen LB 3 times - hope you enjoy this upcoming show as well!

Hope you've done enough to tempt people there from further afield - if I could be there, I would be!

Welcome to The Ledge - hope you stay and have fun.

Patience pays off. Turned down the fifth row center five times. After 20 minutes on TM, we ended up with third row center. Never been to the Stiefel Theatre in Salina...but it looks like a grand old concert hall.

snicksfan85 08-01-2011 03:19 PM

I told my radio guy at KYEZ to go. (It's a country station but about 60% of what I talk with my radio guys has nothing to do with country music or radio.) In fact, that was the first thing that came out of my mouth when I called him last week: GO SEE LINDSEY!

g. fish 08-01-2011 03:20 PM

Forgive me for posting this twice...didn't see this new topic.

PaulaMacFan 08-01-2011 04:03 PM

g. fish -- the first 2 rows are reserved for handicapped seating and companions -- so third row is about the best you can get!

I was just there last night for a concert. It's such a small venue that all the seats are pretty good.

Another FYI for people considering attending...they don't allow any beverages into the theater. They do sell mixed drinks and beer in the lobby prior to shows however.

chiliD 08-01-2011 04:31 PM

No offense to Paula, but if Lindsey's booking Salina, KS*...maybe he'll play the Thorpe Opera House in David City, NE...population somewhere in the ballpark of 2,000. Then I guess it's on to the "Bun Boy" in Baker, CA "Home of the world's tallest Thermometer".

* = Made a pit-stop there a couple of Christmases ago when driving from Denver to Norman, OK. Didn't takes us long to get from one end of town to the other, but it WAS the biggest town we ran into between the CO/KS border & Wichita. Oh, and it was COLD, too!

PaulaMacFan 08-01-2011 05:03 PM

chiliD -- no offense taken! That's why I'm practically begging people to come to the show here! We're a small place and I want a good audience for Lindsey.

It IS weird he's playing here....as I said, I about had a heart attack when I read he was coming, because I've travelled all over the place to see him, and I know people from Europe are begging him to tour there.

All I can attribute it to is our local theatre director. She's made it her mission to get big talent here, and she's delivered.

But hey....it's still the sticks, I know:)

WelshWitchPMD 08-01-2011 05:30 PM

No offence to Paula and people from Kansas but we have a old movie theater that was converted to a venue here in Cranston, RI. Perfect size for Lindsey! I hate to say it but RI is kind of like Lindsey's "character" on Saturday Night Live. Oh yeah we'll play there NEXT TIME!

In Salina's defense, they have a venue that has the avails and is willing to meet whatever guarantee Lindsey is looking for. Plus, this isn't an area that gets hit by huge competing shows or other events that draw people away on that date so he could easily sell that out. Which is better: sell 75% in Kansas City or Wichita or 100% in Salina? I give his booking agent and tour manager major props for going with appropriate sized venues vs Stevie who still tries to overbook (capacity-wise) in some of the markets she goes to.

Big cities do not always equal better turn out. Case and point:

The Ryman holds roughly 2300 and has a ton of musically oriented people in a big town. Lindsey wasn't packing them in here when he stopped. In fact, I'm not even sure they sold the side sections on the main floor. Chris Isaak gave about 100 pairs to Hands on Nashville when he played here last time. And the balcony was still pretty bare.

(That being said, being originally from Oklahoma, I've done that Colorado to OKC drive. If there ever was a time I wanted to revert back to the five year old yelling "ARE WE THERE YET?" that would be one instance.)

Paula, please send this woman to RI ASAP! Just kidding but yeah you are so lucky. Welcome to The Ledge by the way!

PaulaMacFan 08-01-2011 08:20 PM

Pattie -- thanks for the welcome. I've been reading the Ledge for so long I kind of feel like I know people. Don't ask me why I've taken so long to register....but the Ledge has been my go-to info source for awhile.

Spikey 08-02-2011 10:18 PM

Still waitin' on that Tulsa, OK, Brady Theater date I know in my heart is coming.. ;)
