Very sad, but not suprising at all, especially not after those recent concert clips on YouTube... R.I.P
|
Her last ever tweet read:
''oinka oikna oinka why you awake '' that was about 14hours ago. So sad. The business killed her..same with Michael Jackson..money being placed before people |
I agree Bryan. Here's what I tweeted on the sad news:
Innocuous poseurs like Adele and Duffy made Amy Winehouse expendable--but SHE was the artist, and her exploited humanity sang for our own. RIP, Amy. I hope the Mac cuts a Hawaiian-infused album in honor of your now-lost potential. |
damn you shocked me with taht news.
That is so sad. She has so much talent and it is so sad and tragic that she wasted it killing herself with all that drugs and lost her life that early... :distress: poor girl.... |
Amy Winehouse Dead at Age 29
27, I'm sorry...
Wow, I feel so grateful that Stevie has made it so many decades past 27, and for all her amazing music... http://omg.yahoo.com/news/amy-wineho...rs-death/67893 |

With live in Belgrade the writing was truly on the wall.Booking a European ''comeback'' tour without a record to support?! I wish the whole business to come crashing down it's disgusting |

It's horribly sad that she couldn't shake off her demons, but I tend to believe that an addict's choices aren't the responsibility of anyone else. Controversial topic, of course; mileage will vary. |
Ugh! This news makes me ill. Such a tragic waste & so sad Amy couldn't pull herself together.
|
Such a tragedy. :distress: I'm very upset. I was a fan of hers from the very beginning, but her troubles were massive and great in number. Oh that voice...
|
"Is there anything left to say?" Very sad, indeed. :(

"Earning potential" ? Money money money -that is why she's dead. An artist becomes a business, that is the problem. |
I can't say I'm that shocked really.... Sad that another Candle has been blown out, but I was personally never a fan.
|

I wonder if people will be so unsympathetic when Danny Kirwan goes.
|
I wonder if Stevie will comment about this on up coming interviews.
|
It's sad. But at the same time in Norway a rightwing extremist shoots more than 80 kids between 14 and 18 years old. Sorry, it's not to compare. But THAT is shocking. And sometimes I don't understand America. What's the breaking news on the chitchat Ledge?

Probably sounds harsh, and I do feel bad that somebody has died. I'd be wrong not to. But there are bigger and more important things in the world. I'm not knocking anybody's posts or upset at the death of somebody who obviously touched them deeply. I would be just as upset if somebody I held in such high esteem passed and would naturally be devastated. It just disgusts me how the media can hold so much higher importance on celebrity when the world as it stands is a living hell for many. And we could be the catalyst in stopping that. But the media insists on gagging and blindfolding anybody honest enough to face the harsh reality of what we have done to our world. I'll get off of my soapbox now. |

Yeah, I just knew it was a matter of time. Another waste of talent.
They posted this article on MSNBC. Now this is just weird & sad. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/438665...entertainment/ Lee :distress: |
She was talented, but I feel that this news was just waiting to happen.
Now we have another member of the 27 club. RIP |

Junkie - a narcotics addict, especially one using heroin. Oh and I'm having a day listening to Amy. So sad but I do remember saying several years back that she wouldn't make it past 27. Not like we couldn't all see it coming. Still sad though... :distress: |
Singer Amy Winehouse found dead in her London home
Its very sad news to hear that Amy Winehouse has died.Being only 27 years old is to young to die.She was a very talented but tortured with addictions and destructive behavior.RIP Amy
|
So very sad and tragic. RIP Amy. I was worried about her wellbeing somewhat like was I worried about Stevie during her days of addiction. Seeing Stevie during 'The Dance' era looking cleaned up and with it sort of lifted that worry forever. But there is still a very small chance that Amy may have died from a freak accident or natural causes. I willing to bet that alcohol played a large part in her demise.

I don't think Stevie ever had the extreme personality/mental issues that Amy Winehouse had. Stevie's addictions/problems were never at the levels that Amy's were. So many variables come in to play in these situations, with regard to nature/nuture, and the support systems you have around you.
I had hope that Amy would been cleaned up and in better shape when I heard that she was preparing for a tour in Europe. But when I saw the clips of her in Belgrade, and how tragic she was, my heart sank. I knew she was not long for this earth, but her death was still a shock. I was angry that her management even allowed her get on stage in that condition. Money/greed was the primary concern, with absolutely no regard for her. When the tour was canceled, and she went home, I wonder what took place then. Was the anyone there who cared enough to try to help her? Clearly she was in a serious crisis. Did she not have anybody around concerned enough to take some kind of measures, or have a plan? Still, the damage she had already inflicted on herself was bound to catch up with her sooner than later. I hate that people ridicule and easily dismiss her(because of her drug habits), with absolutely no sense of empathy. Addiction is most often a symtom of other issues. It's not so black and white. and it doesn't matter what your status is in life -- rich or poor, intelect or lack there of. Certain people in certain circumtances are more vulnerable to it than others. By no means does it relect on the integrity of her soul or her immense artistic talent. The reality is: many people indulge moderately in recreational drugs/alcohol and lead healthy, balanced, successful lives. Humans have sought altered states of consciousness since the days of cave men. There is nothing inherantly wrong with that. Amy was amazing singer and smart lyricist, with highly sophisticated musical references. It's so sad to that she couldn't push through beyond her demons. She's left us with small but precious body of work to cherish, yet her potential was so vast. We lost a great artist. |
I don't really get why people (especially on Facebook) are getting on their high horses about Norway. Is it not possible to be sad about both? Or are we supposed to just sweep Amy's death under the carpet because more people died somewhere else? In that case we shouldn't remember Elvis, or Michael Jackson, or Kurt Cobain, or Janis Joplin, or Jimi Hendrix, or Jim Morrison, or.... I could go on, all had a huge talent and threw it all away.
|
PenguinHead and jay, very well said.
I can't pretend I was ever a huge fan, but I did always have a soft spot for her - there was no doubting she had a very special talent but was struggling with some very serious personal difficulties. Today, I've seen people dismiss her as a 'no-talent junkie' and 'no great loss to the world'. Really, more saddening than her death has been the sheer callousness of some people. If you have nothing nice to say and all that... |
I wasn't a huge fan but I did love her voice. Back to Black was a sublime album. Personally I wasn't shocked as such, just deeply saddened by the news. I've been saying that we've been watching her kill herself slowly for years and unfortunately, it's finally happened.
My thoughts are with her fans, family and friends at this awful time :( |

The other day I was watching a documentary about video footage that was being secretly sent out of North Korea. There was footage of a young woman who was scrounging for food, slowly starving to death (and she died a few days after the footage was shot). For some reason every time I shut my eyes at night I see her face. You know what, I don't think I can fit Norwegians in right now. It was sad it was a tragedy, and I'm appalled about it though, I'm not that callous. I'm sad about Amy too, because I loved her music, she touched my life and brought pleasure to it. Hence, this is why I feel the loss of her death. |
I can't be sad about someone who hasn't influence my life in some way. Personally, it is heatbreaking to see someone die so young, but she wasn't willing to clean up and straighten up. How can I mourn someone who seemed like she wanted to die more than she wanted to live?
